Between customizing your squads from behavior to strategies and the real time aspect of the battle with skills and terrain, Unicorn Overlord is an incredible strategy title that makes it viable and an incredible freedom for the player to choose how to create and command their own army. UO will be remembered as one of the best in the genre and of Vanillaware, no doubt.

Super Mario 3D World is one of the greatest (if not the best one) Wii U games that finally hits the Switch. However, the Bowser's Fury DLC feels like a shallow content included only to justify the full price being charged for a past released game remaster. For those who has already enjoyed everything that 3D World offers, there's no much reason to get this re-release, except the addition of the online multiplayer.

Pokémon Pokopia is a very fun concept of the formula that enshrined the Minecraft franchise, but with an excellent implementation of its own world, creatures and context.

Cave Story is incredible. Polished, challenging, fun and interesting.

Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of Switch's best games of 2019 and a breeze of fresh air to this franchise. Unfortunately, its poor animations preclude any possibility of being the game of the year.

Okami Hd is the ultimate evolution of a classic. The Switch version makes no concessions, presenting everything that is expected from a port and going beyond to fit the (high) expectations of the platform. The end result is impeccable, but even if it wasn’t Amaterasu’s adventure would be recommended regardless.

Absolum brings a fresh new look to both beat 'em ups and roguelites. With incredible combo gameplay and a mechanic-rich fighting system, it's crafted just the right balance between the two styles, making the experience both light and casual, yet without compromising or hindering the experience a beat 'em up should be.

A beautiful and fun racing game, which uses the possibilities offered by its host platform to emphasize and renew the truly universal appeal of the series.

Super Mario Maker is, above all, fun and for everyone, just like the series on which it is based.

Fans of the franchise will find Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to be worth the 13-year wait. Whether you are a Metroidvania or Prince of Persia fan or this is your first game in the genre, it's the perfect experience.

VLR builds on a pre-existing universe a new layer with new characters and sets the stage for the probably last volume of a series that messes with the heads of all who are involved.

The Delicious Last Course is one of the most anticipated DLC for me, from one of the games that surprised me the most for its quality in recent times. Cuphead and its additional content are definitely a masterpiece.

Shovel Knight is a great example of the importance of Kickstarter. The result here is a satisfying, accessible, quality product which not only rivals but also exceeds many superproductions from other companies, notably bigger, that not always reach this level of inspiration.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is an easy recommendation to do, but with a public that is hard to define. Players that are used to the VN niche or sci fi stories will probably love the game. Other players, however, must give a chance to the title, eventually, due to how unique each of its characteristics are. It’s not a title that will please all players, but it’s certainly a title that deserves the attention of the general public.

Metroid Dread is definitely the game that explores the full potential of the 2D franchise with praise, doing justice to the producers' proposal to bring fear and exploration to players, valuing and ending the saga in an excellent way, besides leaving that desire and hope that Samus Aran reward us with more titles with this level of quality in the future. Essential not just for fans of Metroid, but for everyone that likes quality games released in 2021.

Nintendo will surely need to work on new artistic and mechanical styles to make its future 2D Mario games attractive, as Super Mario Maker 2 takes all the best from Super Mario Maker 1 and boosts the game with new options, a better interface, more customization, themes, night mode, interesting enemies and wraps the whole package with a fun new story mode and an online mode that even with its flaws, is competent.Super Mario Maker 2 offers the ultimate experience for Mario 2D fans and certainly yields much more fun than the 60$ what it is charged for.

Pipistrello and the cursed yoyo has a unique gameplay with its yo-yo, a platform challenge game that is somewhat difficult, but that gives a good feeling of achievement when passing some insane challenges. Highly recommended for those looking for challenges, fun stories, reviews with an irreverent tone and, of course, yo-yo fans.

Monster Hunter Rise delivers as the ultimate Monster Hunter experience. With an abundance of elements that make it uniquely related to the other games of the franchise, it also brings back the best in each entry, both in gameplay and in the roster of monsters. It is a must play for anyone who likes action games.

Diablo 3: Eternal Collection is an excellent RPG that, allied with the Switch portability, results in a perfect combination to enjoy the game’s almost limitless content.

Ikaruga fills all the requirements: It has simple, yet deep, gameplay, it's addicting, challenging and has enough game modes to increase its longevity. I can't find a reason not to recommend it.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf represents not only the pinnacle of the series, but also the ingenuity of the life simulation genre.

Street Fighter 6 arrives on the Nintendo Switch 2 with jaw-dropping performance, bringing all the excellence of the fighting game that’s now seen as the peak of the genre. And the best part? You can take it anywhere and throw down whenever you feel like it.

Quake is an old title, but a must play if you like fast paced first person shooters. The essence of Quake is in it’s gameplay, being the main reason to give this title a chance.

Learning from the past without ever taking his eyes off the present, this is the pinnacle of the series to date and proof that sometimes you don't need a revolution to give new life to a franchise.
