People of Note has a great story about a world that breathes music, but it lacked a better application of the theme in combat: it's much more challenging for the player and easier for the opponents. It's not difficult, but it loses a lot of dynamism because of this, and ends up feeling more like chess than an RPG. Despite everything, its plot and script are quite fun, as is its soundtrack.

No-Skin is a different and reflective horror game. Although it didn't quite manage to deliver that reflection, perhaps fans more deeply involved in the genre will understand. The idea of ​​being a roguelike could have worked better if it had some kind of more positive reward, but it seems that doing so during the journey goes against the essence of No-Skin.

The Rogue: Prince of Persia is a Roguelike game with several characteristics of the franchise, but it lacks a stronger identity. In the end, it feels like a platform Roguelike that reuses assets as much as possible.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a fun game that mixes platforming and mechanics reminiscent of the Soulslike genre, in terms of combat and attacks. However, the gameplay loop relies too heavily on repetition and ends up being tedious, as does the Switch 2 port, which leaves much to be desired in several aspects.

From the series of "collections of old games re-released in modern times," Marvel Maximum Collection fits into the basic category. The package includes mediocre games that don't stand out in anything, for a high price and too basic features by current standards.

Saint Slayer: Spear of Sacrilege is a competent game with a nice difficulty balance and curve for those who want to spend some time in a metroidvania title. The lack of content, though, lets the game become obsolete pretty soon.

Neopets: Mega Mini Games Collection is the ideal choice for those who miss Neopets, especially players who preferred the mini games over the website's other features. While it doesn't fully replicate the original experience and is missing many beloved elements, it also serves as a solid starting point for newcomers wanting to discover Neopia.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a remake that uses the base of the original and brings a brand and drastically different experience. The main story is largely the same, for better and for worse, considering the title clearly had the intention of making bigger changes to it. The gameplay, however, has been vastly improved and it’s the main reason why I prefer Kiwami 3 instead of the original. However, even considering all the changes, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties doesn’t really reach the same heights as the best games in the series.

Like recent games in the Captain Tsubasa franchise, Inazuma Eleven reinvents itself by bringing some RPG gimmicks to its football adaptation, but along with some unnaturally-implemented elements that were unnecessary.

Wizard of Legend 2 is a game that works very well as a Rogue-lite experience, but it falls short in various points of accessibility, difficulty, excessive repetition, and lack of charisma.

Tomba! 2 Special Edition is a good revisit to the past, as the game has aged well to some extent even with its outdated 3D and bizarre cameras. However, when it comes to emulation, the package is indebted and ends up being too expensive for what it offers.

War Mongrels can faithfully convey the tension of war. However, the port falls short in terms of visuals and performance, not being by far the best version to play of this game.

Lumo 2 is the unexpected sequel of a game whose main purpose is to pay homage to old-school puzzle titles. However, do not expect a friendly learning curve or a difficulty that holds your hand.

Dragon Ruins II is an easy and simple dungeon crawling game with extremely little content. Even so, it can be fun for casual RPG players, as it offers a functional and somewhat enjoyable progression cycle and straightforward gameplay that doesn’t demand much technical skill to advance. However, veterans of dungeon crawler games should stay away.

Pokémon Legends ZA: Mega Dimension is priced too high for the content it delivers. While it has its redeemable moments, the experience is undermined by excessive grinding, repetitive tasks, and, most frustratingly, a severely time-limited exploration of its core new mechanic, the Mega Dimension. With little substantial content beyond some new Megas and returning Pokémon, this DLC ultimately falls short, especially when compared to the series' stronger expansions.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was a pleasant surprise. Despite some dated elements and technical limitations, returning to young Lara Croft’s first adventure, surviving the perils of Yamatai to finally embrace Sam once more, remains an experience well worth having, especially in this portable Switch version.

Choice of Life: Wild Islands is a simple and short game that understands what is offering and delivers what it promises. Despite some unintuitive choices and few differences from previous titles, it still retains a brief period of easy, fast paced casual fun.

Atmospheric, charming and somewhat different, Desert Race Adventures has so little content and an extreme difficulty that tries to counterbalance it that makes the game extremely short to finish and being left in the Switch library to be soon forgotten.

Double Dragon Revive is a classic example of a good poorly executed concept. The effort to bring a more complex combat system and the return of a beloved franchise deserve recognition, but the poor configuration of collisions, inaccurate control and poor performance end up burying any brilliance.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection is a love letter to all fans of the series, packed with extras and trivia. However, it fails to deliver a complete experience, with some missing titles and no rebalancing of the classic games notoriously tough difficulty for the new generation to truly enjoy the roots of the series.

Although fun in parts, Heroes of Mount Dragon squanders the opportunities to innovate within the beat 'em up category and stays in the generic realm.

Acre Crisis is a short game that needs polishing around the edges, but manages to be atmospheric, tense, and full of suspense in true classic survival horror style. Perfect for those looking for a retro experience that captures the nostalgic feel of titles like Dino Crisis and Resident Evil while playing in similar way as Trespasser: Jurassic Park.

Sonic Wings Reunion is a short and simple game that delivers some good fun, especially when played with others. However, the lack of an online mode, no real innovation in gameplay, and the absence of additional content (at least we get some remixed tracks!) make Sonic Wings Reunion a game you’ll probably enjoy for just a few hours before it ends up back on the shelf.

After years in the making, Tales of the Shire brings the life of a hobbit to video games: peaceful, cozy, unhurried, where your biggest concern is what to serve for second breakfast. If that sounds like your idea of paradise, the Shire is waiting.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Battle Destiny Remastered is the prettier version of the PS Vita game, but without significant additions that does the job of attracting more than just fans of the series. In addition, there are very missed opportunities as a local co-op, since the gameplay is very repetitive.

Here is another indie that relies on the Overcooked formula, but does not seem to understand what made the saga so successful.

Spy Drops is a charming stealth espionage game with a nostalgic feel and concise gameplay. However, the lack of polish, poor AI behavior, and randomly generated stages that always feel the same make the game boring very quickly. It has good ideas but is poorly executed.

Let’s not sugarcoat it: Dead by Daylight: The Walking Dead is the worst chapter BHVR has released in a while. Not because of the characters - they’re well-made, with original voices and cool interactions, plus at least two genuinely useful Perks - but because of everything around the release. The update is a mess: packed with bugs, riddled with stability issues, and with all the communication issues, it gets even worse. BHVR dropped the ball hard this time. Here’s hoping they can rebound sooner rather than later, because right now, playing DBD is a sad balance between fun and frustration.
