Phantom Abyss is an adventure game with a heavy emphasis on movement mechanics, semi-cooperative gameplay, and a great deal of trial and error. Conquer traps, collect whips, and escape an esoteric prison in this “Indi” adventure game published by the masters of originality, Devolver Digital.

Anomaly Agent is a wonderfully weird adventure, full of strange and interesting characters and fluid mechanics that are satisfying to execute. Players should have a blast exploring the weird, humorous future world and fighting to keep things normal in this modern spin on a classic genre.

Super Algebrawl takes simple algebraic operations and turns them into pixelated fantasy battles, which can help players of any age retain math better. While featuring a few functional hiccups and a bit misleading with its “turn-based tactics” label, this algebraic puzzle game should appeal to math experts and those looking to brush up on their algebra.

First Cut: Samurai Duel is a fantastically challenging samurai simulator, showing the brutal reality of dangerous Sengoku-period sword duels. The game is held back by its lack of an online multiplayer experience, but otherwise, it is definitely worth your time and the modest price of entry.

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a fantastic roguelike entry that’ll retrain the way you’re used to playing games in the genre. Packed with great humor, simple but fun mechanics, and a dead-eyed killer turnip, there’s not a whole lot more you could ask for from Turnip Boy Robs a Bank.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is near perfect in every way, with exceptional art, game design, characters, and writing. While the game is slightly held back by dated controls and poor mapping options, this complaint hardly feels like a drop in the pond of greatness that is this moonlit journey.

Sovereign Syndicate uses a super unique setting and phenomenal writing to tell a multi-faceted story with dark themes and deep introspection on human nature, despite two of the protagonists being a Minotaur and a Dwarf.

War Hospital takes some challenging, innovative management sim mechanics and throws them in a tense setting, where your every choice could mean life or death. Try to make the most of a bad situation in this game about running a hospital during one of the worst conflicts in history.

Last Stand Delivery is a cute puzzle game about sending souls to Valhalla. Inspired by classics and featuring a wealth of content for its modest price point, you’re sure to have a carefree, enjoyable time with this relaxing yet challenging puzzle title.

As a game, Ancient Warriors is a fine, if underwhelming and overpriced, wave defense title with some great pixel art. However, some seemingly questionable practices on behalf of the developers mean players should exercise caution when checking out this title, as not all that is promised is delivered.

While some survival craft experts may find this title fun, strict, guided progression alongside some frustrating pacing and game design choices keep this from being one of my favorite titles in the genre. This game may best be enjoyed with a friend or two and something to watch to help pass the time while playing.

Siege the Day has a promising concept, but bugs and underwhelming mechanics hold it back from its full potential. I’d like to see this game improved with time, love, and care, and I hope to return to a much better game someday.

Garten of Banban 6 is not a game worth playing. It’s plagued with bugs, intentionally frustrating and unintuitive gameplay, cheap and unfrightening jump “scares,” and a poorly written story filled with uninteresting characters. Garten of Banban 6 is perhaps the most soulless cash grab on Steam and one I see the developers continue to ride until they can’t anymore.

S.E.C.U. has a strong gameplay foundation and ticks off all mechanical boxes for a good FPS game. However, the game struggles from boring-level design, unexciting boss fights, a lack of enemy variety, and underwhelming visuals. With a good update focusing on these problems, S.E.C.U. can take advantage of its already strong mechanics to make a truly standout title.

Spellbound Survivors is a great new entry in the genre of survival action games, building effectively on familiar gameplay while incorporating ambitious and original ideas to distinguish itself from the crowd. While performance issues are present alongside some gameplay-limiting balance problems, these are issues that can easily be fixed with time and may already be solved by the time you read this review.

Unknown Soul With Me is cute and full of heart but requires some real work before it can be the best game it can be. However, I still think the game deserves to be given a chance if you’ve read through these issues, and they aren’t total dealbreakers.
