This is one title most definitely targeted at a very specific niche audience. You know who you are.

This isn’t the prettiest adventure to hit the cathode-ray tube, but as an enjoyable and well-woven game it holds together in an enjoyable and consuming manner without resorting to pigeon philosophy and half-hour digital fireworks.

For twenty pounds you get arguably the greatest arcade fighting game ever created. That’s half the price of the forthcoming (and similarly but differently remarkable) "Soul Calibur 2."

When you do finally get through to the end, you’ll be a better gamer because of it… or at least one who’s learnt a whole bunch of new swear words.

Combines elements of countless classic games and adds three years' worth of great ideas to create something that in our opinion betters Nintendo's best attempts.

While this certainly isn't for everyone, it is a good game that will bring you hours of entertainment if you're prepared to put the work in.

It seems that Antz Extreme Racing only took a few hours to chuck together, using some old sticky back plastic and some double-sided tape. It’s awful.

The closest you’re going to get to a realistic war simulation. Oh yes there’s no doubt about it we’ve been waiting for Commando’s 2 for a long time and now it’s finally here we’re far from disappointed.

Looks fantastic, the cel-shaded style really helps to bring the classic Looney Tunes quirkiness to the game and all of the main characters are well animated and look as they should.

It’s supposed to be a cartoon and it definitely looks like one but however you look at it there aren’t many polygons in any given level – so why on earth is the frame rate so choppy?

The gameplay is generic to say the least – just run along a set path jumping gaps and avoiding enemies.

It’s difficult to look at Kelly Slater as anything more than a cash-in.

You’ll have a constant smile on your face as well as enjoying an addictive and satisfying game of hockey. Excellent.

Basically a vanity game made by Anime fans for Anime fans which sticks to its guns to create a shallow shoot-’em-up with an inspired styling.

A totally engrossing experience.

The feeling of satisfaction when everything locks together like a giant jigsaw puzzle is enormous. Despite its flaws, this is a fantastic slice of gaming.

Two way link–up mode (as with many of the best puzzle games) is what makes Eggo Mania a really good game, and this along with the power ups, different modes and hideously addictive gameplay make Eggo Mania an essential buy if you’re a puzzle fan.

The mini documentaries on each beach at the start of every run and the cool jazzy music suit perfectly. This would seem to make Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer the perfect game for hard-core surfing fans.

A nippy, futuristic, weapon-toting racer which epitomises competence without ever once daring to startle with ingenuity.

There are enough changes and additions to NHL Hitz 20-03 to justify a purchase and if you are a fan of the game you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re prepared to put up with this lack of variation, you’ll find a good, solid game with many parallels to the Tony Hawk’s series itself.

The fact remains that the improvements that NHL Hitz 20-03 has over the first game just can’t justify yet another £40… it’s just not different enough.

Just too basic to allow for any long-term appeal.

Unlike most developers Nintendo can take an ingenious and unusual idea and turn it into an inventive game of discovery and fun. This, you might say, is the Nintendo difference.

A dull, badly animated waste of money.

Invisible walls, unintuitive controls, an overgenerous landing ability and an overall sensation of direness that’ll make anyone who’s familiar with extreme sports games, find playing this one just dull.

You don’t feel anywhere near as connected to the gameplay as you do with "Tetris" or "Bust-A-Move." Another problem is that despite all of the chaos going on around you the game feels quite slow.
