Where the modern FPS has become bloated with features and alternate gameplay styles, this is focused on delivering a simple experience that’s true to its origins.

If you are too chicken to go through it yourself, there is always the co-op mode to have a partner hold your hand.

Just try not to think so much and you'll enjoy the unravelling of the unorthodox capers.

A good game. It has absolutely superb audiovisual presentation, extravagant and hugely entertaining action and some of the best FPS set-pieces you'll find on the PS2. It's a shame the experience doesn't deliver a little more variety and there are a few minor flaws which bring things down a little, but all in all this is one of the most explosive, entertaining shooters on the PS2.

There's no denying that gamers can walk away from the experience feeling a lasting good impression of the revamp. The new direction of the franchise holds a lot of promising potential and Ninja Theory still comes out showing that the duties of keeping things new and fresh are in capable hands. Here's to new beginnings.

For a system that is criticised for the lack of games, you could do a lot worse that this.

Most of the writing's cleverly done. The soundtrack is pitch perfect. It successfully executes on the concept of an exploitation film in videogame form. The creativity's somewhat marginalized beneath commonplace mechanics but it's still there, itching to get out. This time you'll just have to dig for it.

It's colorful, requires strategy, and there's a lot of stat-building for those into it along with a decent variety of maps and challenges. However, there are serious drawbacks such as the repetition, difficulty curve, and less than ideal control scheme.

It doesn't do a very good job through the story mode at introducing newcomers to the mechanics of the game and it can quickly devolve into something that hardly resembles a "sweet science" when players aren't sure what they're doing, but once you get the hang of how the game works, it's a thing of beauty.

Improvements are constantly being updated and although team mates make or break many matches, there is genuine fun to be found.

The Touch Screen is both used and abused, offering a few poorly executed trick concepts and a slew of customization options for the creative artist in all of us.

The premise of a shoot 'em up which encourages players to be more selective about what they shoot may sound counterintuitive, but Zeit Squared's risk/reward health system, coupled with some fine-tuned, innovative game mechanics, are engaging throughout.

Despite its late-game flaws I’m just so surprised the team at Young Horses managed to make this ludicrous concept work as a fully-fledged game that I still wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

If you’re after a game to play on the way to work, or when you have a spare few minutes, then this could be a worthy purchase.

Its nowhere near perfect online play continues the classic case of being bummed from losses or wins thanks to lag and being S.O.L. if players have no fellow Street Fighters to game with locally.

It’s certainly an impressive debut title and one of the best games to come out of the Eastern Bloc, but its basic mechanics could have done with some extra polish.

If simply taken as the sum of its parts, TERA might not seem all that impressive. But considering just how excellent its combat is and just how gorgeous everything in-game looks, it's impossible to dismiss the game as just another run-of-the-mill MMO.

Unfortunately for now, it seems Aerosmith needs to take a step back, only managing to play groupie to the real Legends of Rock that have already conquered the gaming world.

It's a silly game with an awful camera – particularly indoors – a bad draw distance, repetitive missions and a paltry story, but the unabashed mayhem it conjures and lays at your finger tips makes it surprisingly easy to recommend. It might not reinvent the genre or introduce anything new, but Prototype 2's tweaks to its original formula make for a highly entertaining game.

Despite whatever disagreements may come from its adjusted gameplay, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 can still be a fun game, and even more so with its amended online components.

Unfortunately, it looks as if there isn’t enough content or new ideas that will make many gamers readily come back for more once the original challenges are completed.

The game is rewarding, colourful and has enough accoutrements (including, in true RPG fashion, optional bosses) to draw you back for multiple play sessions. Locked within it, though, are the seeds of a much more complex, far more satisfying experience, one that the developers might well consider pursuing in the future.

Now, there is some challenge for the gamer that's inclined to find it. Every stage has three hidden star coins, and the acquisition of them all can be tricky, and necessary to access the harder levels. For everyone else, this is another Mario game that's far too easy and plays it far too safe. It's more Mario for people who want more Mario, and nothing more.

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales is a mash-up of a variety of different ideas, and although none of them are executed perfectly, the game still manages to be quite entertaining.

However, it’s most definitely a great step for the genre in terms of storytelling that will hopefully be properly mimicked and expanded by another developer or in a sequel.

Though the game lacks the kind of epic presentation that Ikaruga fans enjoy, the levels are still something worth looking at while you’re dodging unfriendly fire.

Technical issues aside, Cubemen is a cleverly produced game that has the potential to keep you engaged for hours. The simple controls, challenging maps and variety of game modes are a potent combination. Once its stability improves, this could be one of the best purchases you make on iOS.

Despite showing its age, Stranger's Wrath HD is still a wholly original, refreshing title when compared to many modern offerings.
