Therefore, the bottom line is that if you could not get into the original Touch Detective, 2 1/2 will not change your mind. However, if you enjoyed the first game, you'll definitely want to pick this one up.
-
Aside from that, Touch Detective 2 1/2 is just more of the same, so your enjoyment will depend on what you thought of the first. [Nov 2007, p.96]
-
Overall, I have to say I enjoyed this installment of the game far more than I did the first, as it all flows together in ways that the original simply couldn't.
-
Just try not to think so much and you'll enjoy the unravelling of the unorthodox capers.
-
netjakIt feels more along the lines of an expansion pack to the original game as opposed to a new game, and the heavy use of recycled environments does nothing to mitigate the fact that it's basically the same game.
-
What Touch Detective is still missing, however, is the ability to really connect with the gamer, as puzzles – while better this time around than last year – still rely more on hitting a specific event trigger than actually figuring out direct, challenging puzzles.
-
A few small tweaks, overlapping missions and a reduction of redundant verbosity and this could be as exciting and addictive as old school adventure games. It'd be destined for the bargain bin if wasn't already as hard to find in a store as objects are to find in the game.
