Sir Whoopass: Immortal Death’s eggs have been put in the comedy basket, and there isn’t really much to keep anyone engaged beyond that. There are much better (and funnier) games out there to spend your money on.

Blades of Fire is a game that you have to adapt to, rather than the other way around. Embrace its systems and it will reward you, but there is practically no scope for playing how you want to play.

The Precinct is pretty much all you would want from a game of this ilk, full of variation in crimes, with gameplay that is both clever and multifarious.

Sunseed Island knows what it is, in fact, it relishes in the knowledge it’s a farming sim and never oversteps the mark into being pretentious or overbearing.

Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping serves up another lovable, cozy mystery fronted by rising star, Eugene McQuacklin. It may be a short story, but it’s thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.

Forgotten Fields is a game with heart, but this alone is not enough to carry it. Just like Sid’s fantasy novel, it feels like a rough first draft - full of great ideas but lacking the execution to truly bring them to life.

With addictive mechanics, great music and visuals and a compelling story from start to finish, IXION should be celebrated as a resounding success; an exemplary RTS game. Just be prepared for a seriously tricky and often overwhelming experience.

Into the Restless Ruins manages to make building dungeon layouts addictively strategic and a whole lot of fun.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a well balanced compilation of games with broad appeal, skilfully and faithfully enhanced for the modern player.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a worthy successor to the previous game, especially if you have a buddy to take along for the ride.

You should enjoy the chance to get behind the bar of Bartender Hustle, especially if drink mixing is your bag. What keeps it interesting is the variety of cocktails, the different locations, and the variety of modes on offer from the beginning.

Once Peglin gets a grip, it's very hard to escape that grasp. You may fire it up for a quick five minute blast, but don't be surprised to discover runs that go hours’ deep and sleep patterns that are fast ruined.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is a gloriously gory game which manages to feel familiar but fresh at the same time. Adapting the gameplay may well have seemed like a gamble, but in the capable hands of id Software, it has certainly paid off.

Whether you’ll find enjoyment with SubwaySim 2 or not will depend on how much you like picking up passengers and working your way across routes in an allotted time. That said, the scenarios on offer are good, adding a bit of variety to the usual gameplay, almost adding in a story.

Despelote is a short game, running just a few hours, but it's a perfect length. It tells an amazing story full of biographical, personal, and larger historical worth. The gameplay is excellent too, complete with plenty of clever little tricks and mini-games. But mostly it’s a game that delivers a wonderfully moving story, and you won’t even have to like football to love it.

Empyreal is a long old game, and you could easily find yourself sinking tens of hours into it. Become one with the addictive and fun gameplay loop, and you’ll have a good time, but you may find that it overstays its welcome after a while.

Spirit of the North 2 is super impressive with some amazing locations and detail.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a phenomenal achievement that hits so many highs. It’s an overall fantastic and unforgettable experience. I’d honestly go so far as saying it is now THE best title in the Elder Scrolls franchise (at least until Morrowind receives the same treatment)

BIOMORPH is a pretty good game; one that makes a decent fist of the Metroidvania tropes. The ability to change into various creatures is an interesting feature, and there is certainly a lot of content to go at.

Don't let that very cheap price point of PuzzleCar put you off. This may be a simple tile swapping puzzler, and you may well complete everything it offers within a couple of hours, but for those hours, you'll no doubt become addicted to the easy-to-handle gameplay and fun levels.

With surprisingly new mechanics stemming from the weapon system, Journey of Johann: Grasslands ends up being a near-perfect experience wrapped up into one short hour.

You’ll enjoy the story and exploration side of Post Trauma, perhaps more than the combat sections and latter puzzles.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 2 continues the emotional and nostalgic journey started in Tape 1 with a strong narrative that builds on the bonds formed between the group of girls.

If you want easy, over-in-an-hour gaming, head to this buzzy kingdom immediately. But don’t arrive at the gates of Bee Flowers: Royal Garden expecting anything near a test of your puzzling mind.

Breakout Beyond delivers a bit of a unique take on an old classic. It may look to reinvent, but ultimately this is Breakout, flipped. Long term play may be an issue, but if you’re looking for a big old hit of nostalgia, mixed in with plenty of modern day touches, this is one to consider.

Out of Moves is a bright little puzzle game inspired by some classics of the genre. If you’re after a brief distraction to get your brain blossoming, you could do a lot worse.
