Mustache in Hell is the very definition of middle of the road. It isn’t the worst twin stick shooter, but it does commit an almost unforgivable sin in the world of video games - it is just bland

Strip some of the excess fat off of Shapeshooter, cutting it down from an awkward polyhedron to something more elegant and powerful, and there would be a good game here. But it’s overburdened, and we found ourselves dreading playing at its slow, ambling speed for too long.

Spencer is an alright platformer that just so happens to come in at a very cheap price. It might be great for the young kids out there and should appeal to the frustrated parents who want to find something for them to do without breaking the bank, but for me it’s a game with a mobile port feel to it and that doesn’t allow for any groundbreaking new experience.

Many, especially those who grew up with the original, will be able to find some fun in Little Big Adventure - Twinsen’s Quest, but a lack of polish may put others off.

Shootvaders The Beginning takes one too many leafs out of Space Invaders’ book. It makes each level near identical to the last, just with more incessant bullets coming your way.

Both the combat and class system are solid additions to the genre, but the balancing and questionable design choices hold it back from fully reaching its potential.

Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero gets the balance just right in terms of difficulty, something that previous games struggled with. It also brings the melee attacks back, but it would have been nice to have had a choice when playing solo.

By all means check it out if you can grab it in a sale and have some mates over for a night of fun and games, but otherwise Guilt Bullet Arena misses the mark. Even with that one deadly bullet it plays on.

Sky Roll! is a very, very basic game with absolutely no original ideas of its own. Yet it is still half decent and for the sake of 79p, I dare say you’ll have a bit of fun with it.

Chipmonk! is an incredibly basic beat ‘em up which fails to innovate or excite in almost every way. What results is a mediocre callback which does nothing to stand out from the crowd. It would be nuts to recommend it.

If you are determined to play a vertically scrolling shooter, then Exo-Calibre may scratch an itch for a little while. But don’t expect to get too excited by what it delivers. There’s no way this is awful, but Exo-Calibre does commit the cardinal sin for a game - it is just a bit boring.

For the low price and promise of a full Gamerscore haul coming your way within a matter of a few minutes, Ball laB could possibly find a place within your gaming sessions. Unless you have controller throwing tendencies - in which case you should stay well away.

Somehow, Paleo Pines has managed to make dinosaurs dull. They’ve achieved it through a cozy sim that makes every one of its many systems as inconvenient to use as possible. We just wanted to catch ’em all, but Paleo Pines hands you too many chores and makework before you can even get close.

Garfield Lasagna Party is not the first party game that we’d direct you to. It sits somewhere below the average thanks to its slow board game mode, which desperately needs more than one layout to keep things fresh, and a collection of minigames that are as mixed in quality as Garfield’s own comic strips.

If your eyes are set on an indie platformer to give you a challenge, I’d recommend the likes of Celeste or Super Meat Boy. Had you played these, and only then, you might just find something in Journey of Johann: Snowy Mountain that is enjoyable.

Primal Light is a retro-styled platformer that should only really be considered by serious masochists. You may like a challenge, but this can often feel like a step too far.

When CORE.SYS is firing on all cylinders, you are dodging Firewalls left, right and centre, praying that the next checkpoint hurries itself up. At that point, it just about becomes good enough to warrant a purchase.

Should you be coming to Tour de France 2021 looking for a proper bike racer which will let you replicate the real-world grand tour, this isn't the game for you. And unfortunately unless those behind it take a season out to prepare themselves for future years, it’s hard to see how this franchise can ever begin to appeal going forward.

The whole money-making exercise being such a prominent feature of Dead Ahead: Zombie Warfare takes away from what is good about the game – fun, addictive, zombie beating madness with plenty of content and challenge.

The concept and originality is something that shows signs of promise, but with a lack of interesting content, simplistic and repetitive play, and no real reason to be doing any of it, there isn’t too much of Socketeer that you’ll be thinking back on fondly.

    UFL
Free, or not, UFL is full of the kind of poor gameplay mechanics that have been weeded out of other football games over the last ten years. It’s a blast from the past, just not in a good way, and so it’s probably not worth your time right now.

Demoniaca: Everlasting Night comes with a great setup and a lot of ambition, but poor execution. I can see what the developers wanted to do, and somewhere deep down there is a good game struggling to get out, however, it is buried under a heap of poor combat options and sub standard platforming.

There’s no doubt eFootball 2024 is a flawed game and, if a measly update is all that’s coming each year, it’s hard to see it ever being worthy of your time.

Failing to ever deliver a properly good platforming experience, and coming complete with far too much clunkiness to allow for decent tactics and strategy, Ghost Sweeper on Xbox One falls far short of what is expected of a game in this time period. Yes it comes with some cutesy visuals, and delightfully delivers what could be expected from a game inspired by those of decades past, but there just isn’t enough of a modern twist to see this become a relevant purchase.

SkateBIRD is a great gimmick. It is super fun to create a bird and the level design is definitely fresh. However, with its increasingly frustrating physics, repetitive challenges and bland graphics, it’s ultimately a poor copy of other better skateboarding games.

Fundamentally, Prison Tycoon: Under New Management suffers with repetitive, monotonous gameplay that makes it difficult to enjoy. As a result, it pales into insignificance when compared to its rivals.
