Doom Eternal – The Ancient Gods Part 1succeeds in its goal: to give the fans more action, gore and fun. If we put aside the small step backwards made with the soundtrack, this DLC will undoubtedly appeal to all those gamers who are still not satisfied with Doom’s adrenalinic gameplay loop.

Rogue Flight is a fast-paced and adrenaline-filled rail shooter. It has an excellent artistic component that brings to mind some of the great classics of Japanese animation from the 1980s and 1990s. The plot and structure of the campaign are good, the latter with five difficulty levels to allow anyone to appreciate it. The only shame is that the roguelite mode is only sketched out and that there is an exaggerated presence of visual effects that are too shiny and annoying.

Don’t trust art of rally. Even if it looks like a cute, tiny, aesthetic arcade racing game, it is actually a love tribute to the history of rally, from a rally lover to rally lovers all over the world. Underneath his neat visual style and his top-down visuals lies a great rally sim, stripped of every needless detail and still playable by any kind of gamer thanks to a vast array of camera and difficulty options.

AvantGarden Games has done a simple and effective job of bringing back an intense video game. Strengthened by a beautiful story, born from the pen of Joses Fares, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a work of art that explores the most intimate human sides, enhancing the bond that binds one brother to another. Its greatness lies precisely in its simplicity. An excellent remake of an incredible video game.

The child in me was happy with the first turn of my TIE Interceptor, but the adult in me also has to recognise a very straight-forward campaign and a surprising lack of multiplayer modes. But what’s there is pretty good, thanks to a phenomenal flight system, clever maps and strategic progression system. Oh, and VR support.

Kill the Brickman is a decent roguelite with a nice idea behind it, but unfortunately it suffer a bit from repetitiveness and lack of varied enough content.

A Juggler’s Tale tries to find its space in the wide spectrum of similar games by impressing the audience with a truly suggestive and inspired aesthetic, a gorgeous front cover for a solid game. In just a couple of hours, it tries to establish a dialogue with the player, pushing it to reflect on serious themes such as freedom and free will, at the same time being aware of the paradoxes embodied by its mechanics. A good debut for kaleidoscube.

Lords and Villeins is a city builder which tries a different approach to the genre introducing families and dynasties, and although it does not revolutionize the gameplay, it gives it some spice of originality. Under the hood, however, it's a solid strategy game for players who love meticulous resource management, supported by excellent visuals that will make happy those who want to spend time in the creation of detailed cities and houses. An above average learning curve could lead to no that satisfying results in the first couple of runs, but nothing that will discourage players who love this kind of games.

Tengo Project strikes again, this time with its most ambitious work yet. A far cry from being a simple update of an old classic, Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn is a full-fledged remake made with inventiveness and respect for the source material, a true rewrite of an eight-bit game that has passed somewhat under the radar in the West. It could not have received a better redemption.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for Nintendo Switch is a decent conversion of a game that may not have aged very well, surpassed on several fronts by many other exponents of the same genre.

Trepang2 does nothing to hide its true nature, which is to be a decent fps, very fun in the shooting phases, but poor in all the rest of the game package.

Terra Nil is not and does not try to be a triple A title with an infinite amount of content that will keep us glued to the screen for months and months; Instead, I found it a product that conveys a very clear message while relaxing us with its beauty-oriented style. Perhaps it is not the best choice for those looking for a hardcore experience, but I find it brilliant how the design choices help to convey the environmental concepts that the Free Lives developers evidently have at heart. So on the spot I can't tell which other gaming experience can do the same.

A fluid and dynamic action-platformer with great potential, flawed by a too rigid structure, limited longevity and some annoying bugs that spoil the experience. A metroidvania with these dynamics could give an eventual sequel the breathing room this project needed.

A survival horror inspired by the classics of the genre, Resident Evil above all, but with a rather original setting. The sources of inspiration can be felt from the very beginning, which will make long-time fans happy, but the strong setting and some little gameplay variations manage to give Conscript its own dimension.

Citizen Sleeper is a great mix of a narrative adventure and a tabletop game.

No new features but still one of the most entertaining beat 'em up ever made. If you loved Streets of Rage 4 and River City Girls, this must be your next game of choice.

Windjammers 2 is the triumph of Dotemu's playability and dedication: the arcade spirit of the past lives again in a sequel that is philologically irreproachable and has a great personality. A very good result, that could be further improved with a greater emphasis on the single player aspect.

Lushfoil Photography Sim is a very interesting photo-camping simulator. Well done in the mechanics related to the reflex parameters, as in the creation of the game maps.

The Fractured but Whole is a perfect sequel that adds precious new stuff in the usual, irreverent, politically incorrect world of South Park. An incredible experience for the fans of the series and for those searching for a fun and crazy adventure RPG as well.

DNF Duel is an 2.5 D Fighting Game with an excellent core and a very interesting roster but very little to offer to new players in terms of contents. In its current state, it can be an easy suggestion for anyone more interested in playing in a more competitive way rather than for a casual player.

It's a bit paradoxical to think that the weakest point of a remake are the newest features, but that’s the case with Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn: the new abilities break that perfect balance of the original game. Fortunately, that game is still there and if you want you can appreciate it exactly as it was conceived.

A throwback (in every sense) for Kirby, who brings back an old adventure of his for Nintendo Wii by adding an updated audio / video compartment to the original, new mini-games, a brand new supplementary adventure and much more Still. An unmissable "package" for fans of the character and for those looking for a pure and simple platformer... maybe even too much.

Puzzle Bobble is simply one of the most popular and played puzzle games in videogames history. In this new edition we find the usual gameplay but also many new modes including... Space Invaders. If you love the series, don't pass it up.

As is traditional for Ice-Pick Lodge, Pathologic 3 is not a game designed to entertain, please, or make the player comfortable with welcoming introductions, explanations, and power fantasies. It's a game that demands to be approached on its own terms. Whether you like them or not, those are the terms. It's not a "physical" ordeal like its predecessor; the protagonist's torment this time is certainly more cerebral. However, the beauty of fragility remains intact. No matter how much power and knowledge are accumulated, even knowing in advance what will happen in 5 days, some events are inevitable. Others can only be mitigated. Others can be changed at a very high price. It's not a world of heroes, but rather of humans (and non-humans) with all their differences, doing the best they can with what they have, against an enemy about whom they even have differing opinions.

Yoshi's Crafted World is a window into the mind of a child. Colourful and cheerful, the newest video game by Good-Feel is able to put the player in a good mood.

After 20 years, Gears of War is finally coming to PlayStation 5, with the very first installment of the series further polished, enhanced, and complete with all the content released to date. A few wrinkles are noticeable, and the gameplay's rigidity might make it a bit unpalatable for younger players accustomed to blistering speed, but the charisma is still there, and the power of the war between the COG and the Locust is still ready to make your Lancer explode in your hands.

Finally, after a disappointing Wii U version, Pokkén Tournament achieves its full potential. The single player mode is still a simple sequence of matches, but there are many alternative modes and new characters to keep you busy. And if you have some friends to play with, that's just the cherry on top.

Dicefolk is a valid alternative in the search for a good roguelike with mechanics linked to dice management that are interesting, but very unbalanced and managed by luck.
