Not good but not awful, The Technomancer serves more as a showcase for the future potential of Spiders than a game worth playing on its own merit.

7 Days to Die had the potential to be something impressive but with frequent glitches and game freezes it falls well short of being the game it could so easily be.

The Division: Underground introduces a randomly generated Diablo 3 rift-like system bringing a ton of PVE goodness to a struggling end game and delivers initial excitement and gameplay with ease. Unfortunately the repetitive nature of the missions as well as the consistent reuse of environments means that whilst this package brings something fantastic for players (PVE focused ones especially) after a solid few hours, there is nothing new to see.

The Detail is a valiant effort to bring gritty police drama to PC. Aside from some dialogue issues, the tone is flawless while the story offers up plenty of intrigue to keep any wannabe sleuth entertained for a few hours.

Overall, while this is indeed in some respects a new skin for the Total War series, it’s one that it wears with honour and pride.

Overall then TransOcean 2 is a distinctly average game. It’s not standout in its genre nor is it a weak link and at its purest it’s a solid economic simulator if a touch lightweight.

The setting is decent, the atmosphere can be good in an intimidating way but as it’s a first-person shooter with awful combat and an even worse frame rate it’s impossible to recommend.

Hard Reset was a great game when it was first released in 2011. The Redux edition has a graphics overhaul and a story pacing rebalance it still retains the gameplay of the original. While that was great five years ago when old-school shooters were in decline, Hard Reset now feels somewhat dated.

Despite clunky combat and an unremarkable story Mirror's Edge Catalyst star still shines thanks to excellent community features.

Bold concepts, but the experience never quite comes together. For all its potential, Battleborn feels dead on arrival.

Trackmania Turbo is like a Scalextric set for your console. As an arcade racer, it 's possibly the most fun you can have with the laws of physics. Some may be put off by the lack of a more competitive race mode, but for the majority, this colourful, simple and above all, addictive game is one of the most enjoyable racers to hit consoles in quite some time.

Stellaris is a game that begs you to explore but with erratic sector AI and trait conflicting win conditions it is a confusing and at times unexciting game to play.

Interesting, unique, but ultimately unfulfilling.

A bold but ultimately damned experiment, the game unfortunately does not offer any huge benefits in its PlayStation 4 re-release.

A bit too short, a little fiddly and a little less than invitingly re-playable to recommend to many more than the concrete fans or curious WiiU owners intrigued by the last hurrah of a dying platform.

A beautiful game that rewards those who lose themselves in the story and the world that Stoic Studio has weaved.

The only fault one can aim at Dark Souls 3 is its lack of originality, everything else is perfect.

Despite its unforgiving difficulty Enter the Gungeon is an absolute masterpiece.

Some minor gameplay issues aside, Republique does a notable job of taking an innovative idea and crafting an ethically-charged, politically driven story that most triple-A titles fail to grasp in their storytelling.

Fun for a while but by the time the difficulty curve really kicks in you’ll be bored to death.

Alekhine’s Gun would have scraped by had it not had the hubris to call itself ‘Best Cold War Shooter’. It’s barefaced cheek to appropriate the Hitman formula to a different time is interesting, were it not taking everything else from a franchise that has just revamped itself.

A brave attempt at cross medium entertainment, let down by leaning more one way than the other.

Whilst DiRT Rally doesn’t have the WRC seal of approval it has the hearts of its die-hard fans.

Not dead on arrival, The Following is a meaty chunk of gaming fun.

Street Fighter V is a wonderful game that’s not ready yet for launch. That’s not to say it doesn’t work - and work well - at what it does (most of the time). The problem is there’s not really enough of it, all working all the time, to warrant a release now.

With these simple colours and the odd puff of chalk the world of Dokuro is brought to life on the Vita in a breathtaking fashion, the simple art hiding so much potential underneath.

It’s not perfect but it’s one of the best online titles ever released.

A silly alternative to the modern shooter, Garden Warfare 2 doesn't take itself too seriously and is all the better for it.
