With an enchanting art style Crown Trick is a delight to play, yet is challenging and frustrating before you master its combat system.

Cake Bash is a fun party game with a lot of potential, but with relatively few bash modes and minigames, it can feel repetitive after a while. The limited progression and fast unlockables also mean that when your completion hits 100%, you may see little reason to continue playing. However, with the freedom to play against bots, local friends or online, if looking for a cute, quick and easy party game to jump into, Cake Bash may fit the bill.

Other than a couple of slight and somewhat comical irritations, Partisans 1941 is a fun, methodical real-time tactics game.

Team17 have done it again with another endearingly designed, vastly comprehensive fun experience. The Survivalists is one of the best crafting games that I have played and one of my favourite games of the year.

The Nintendo Switch is home to many great indie titles that have flourished and found their natural home on the console; Filament is one of these titles. I initially loved the survival and building aspects of The Walking Dead Onslaught. Unfortunately it wore thin quite quick. I would have liked more depth and more variety but what we have is fun, immersive, zombie bashing good time. I just recommend playing in short bursts otherwise it will get repetitive very quickly.

Going Under is a brilliant first release from Aggro Crab Games, combining challenging gameplay, rewarding combat and a wealth of possibilities in terms of both the dungeons and the enemies. Though let down by a myriad of performance issues and bugs, fixes are promised in upcoming patches, as is a variety of post-launch content. For £15.99, you can't go wrong.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps drastically improves upon its predecessor, with stellar gameplay, visuals and music. A true testament to what the Switch is capable of, this stunning sequel is not to be missed.

Kirby Fighters 2’s repetitive single-player gameplay and online issues make it hard to recommend. You might like it if you’re a die-hard Kirby fan but it’s lacking in quite a few ways.

Tell Me Why pushes the boundaries of video-game storytelling with its mature, open-minded approach to its themes and its pioneering representation. The inclusion of a trans lead character is vital but the story is a lot deeper than what's on the surface.

What Supergiant Games have created here is the perfect roguelike; immensely satisfying, even in failure, with an excellently-written array of characters and a compelling story. With variety of events to avoid the gameplay every becoming stale, a myriad of different weapons with markedly varied play styles, and gameplay-altering boons, Hades is an absolute joy to play. Oh, and everyone is hot, EVERYONE.

Budget Cuts looks great, plays amazingly, is well designed and a lot of fun. Barring too much time spent in load screens, I loved every second of it. It gives you the various tools you need to succeed but leaves you free to explore and work your way through the game how you wish. If you have a PSVR headset then give it a go, its a brilliant game.

As Far As The Eye is a fun little turn-based, strategy game set in a vibrant world full of adorable creatures. Whilst there's a lot to learn and manage, this quickly becomes a rewarding and satisfying experience.

Praetorians HD may not be as advanced or detailed as games that have come since but it is an incredibly effective throwback and one I greatly enjoyed.

In many ways Commandos 2 HD looks and feels like a classic real-time strategy game but it is not fit for purpose on a console.

Crysis still holds up as a fun and exciting popcorn style action game that is an excellent addition to anyone's library.

I enjoyed playing Worm Jazz, but it's not a game I'm eager to return to. It has some fun levels but it's lacking in variety. If you want a fun, laid-back puzzle game it's not bad at all but, unlike some worms, I wasn't hooked.

While it is reliant on grinding and lacks the sort of customisation that the simulation fans crave, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is the most entertaining WWE games in years.

While handsomely produced, the way the titular character is treated as an afterthought and the serious themes of child grooming are handled leaves a truly wretched taste in the mouth.

Despite availability issues, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is easily one of the greatest games on Switch and a celebration of some of the best Nintendo games of all-time.

Spiritfarer is a beautiful game in terms of graphics and story, with plenty of tasks to keep you busy from collecting resources, fishing, and building. It's a relaxing experience, and one many people will find comfort in.

BPM is a well-executed, unique take on the rhythm-roguelite genre that has a lot to offer – if you can get accustomed to its demanding gameplay hook.

Star Renegades is a chaotically beautiful title that doesn't pull any punches with difficulty, yet keeps you coming back for more.

An adorable and gorgeously designed puzzle game that, despite minor technical issues is a joy to play.

This is a fun little game for fans of horror, puzzle, or visual novels. It takes the best parts of these genres and makes them into a smooth experience, filled with creepy music, lovely pixel art, and engaging puzzles.
