    Penny-Punching Princess
    Penny-Punching Princess brings an interesting slant to the brawler genre, one that sadly can become fiddly and repetitive over time. As a fairly expensive eShop title (physical release plans were scrapped at the last minute), it’s difficult to recommend a purchase here, given what you could get for your money instead. Penny-Punching Princess is certainly not a bad game, but it’s not a great one either. One to look for in the sales then, where your calculator allows.

    Golem Gates
    Golem Gates is generous with its content, but is for a fairly particular audience. Its complexity is enough to put off people that are new to the genre, but strategy fans will get a kick out of it.

    Hellpoint
    If you are a fan of Dark Souls and/or Bloodborne and are looking for a soulslike game on the Nintendo Switch then Hellpoint is absolutely for you. It is an expansive world that is destined to be explored with a fair but challenging difficulty. If you’re not so much a fan of this genre then I would say to give this one a miss.

    Bit Dungeon+
    If procedural generated dungeons filled with monsters is enough to satiate your desire for a new roguelike, then Bit Dungeon Plus may be a good choice. However, it doesn’t do much to differ from the most bland and standard roguelike experience.

    Big Crown: Showdown is one of those unexpectedly fun eShop titles that’s great to play with friends. A disappointing online experience lets it down somewhat, however.

    Phantom Doctrine
    Phantom Doctrine is an extensive espionage strategy game, with a ton of features and gameplay elements to get stuck into, but its downgrades for the Switch port make the experience – while not unplayable – jarring and awkward at times. Unless you’re set on playing this one on the go, it’s likely better experienced with a mouse and keyboard.

    Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm
    Oceanhorn 2 looks to offer a suitable alternative whilst we await BOTW2. Though there are rumblings of an excellent and engaging open-world adventure, Cornfox & Bros. haven’t quite left their mark with this game in ways they should have.

    Kao the Kangaroo is an enjoyable revival of another once-forgotten mascot platformer, but its punches don’t hit hard enough to unseat any of its heavy-hitting contemporaries on Switch, and technical hiccups add an additional layer of ring rust.

    As fun as Red Hot Ricochet is to play when you’re with friends, it lacks that single-player component in order to really keep you entertained. Interest will quickly wane, leaving both you and your party looking elsewhere for further enjoyment.

    Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition
    Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is a replicant of the cult classic adventure game, painstakingly created by Nightdive, and still an enthralling experience today. Changes will alert the keen-eyed detective, however, and it’s debatable whether this new version is ultimately any more ‘enhanced’ than the original.

    It’s not going to set the world alight, but a well-developed combat system, some so-bad-it’s-good dialogue, and overall thoughtful optimisation options deliver a welcome surprise in this modest, enjoyable RPG.

A patience test that literally makes it difficult to put one foot in front of the other, its charming cartoon graphics and hilarious narrator contrast nicely with the gameplay, and it changes things up just enough to keep you entertained to the end.
