Shank is a 2D beat'em up with a great style and gameplay; on the other hand, a poor replay value and a short main story don't make it one of the tops.

The latest episode in the saga does not betray the expectations of fans. An episode that knows how to fascinate and entertain thanks to the many expedients that succeed in avoiding the risk of being repetitive. The software house haven't risked in producing the title, getting back to a narrative structure. The great graphics and gameplay, make this a must have for fans.

Yomawari: Night Alone is a "cute survival horror" with a classic structure, a little bit of backtracking and a helpless character that must overcome her fears. Despite the unique design, it has some frustrating moments and a weak plot.

Samurai Warriors 5 is a videogame and a Musou that lives of alternances. A deep story is encapsulated in a radiophonic narrative, a captivating aesthetic pairs with a low poligonal count and a funny and solid fighting system clashes with a gameplay full of repetitiveness. Koei has made an inspired re-immagination of his franchise, but his experiment is only an half success. Not the worst Samurai Warriors ever made, but neither the best.

Truly a masterpiece in terms of graphics and soundtrack, but loses itself when it comes to playing the game, especially the combat system too much limited. The story is quite interesting, it takes a lot of references from different religions, but the plot sometimes shows huge holes and characters without a background story.

In Sound Mind is a psychological thriller that tells a twisted story about corrupted and ill minds, but fails to be coherent and often presents bad design choices.

The Dishwasher Dead Samurai has a great design, unique style and funny gameplay, but it lacks in detail quality. After few hours of gameplay you could get bored because of its repetitive mechanics, and a too-short story mode. Online Multiplayer is too far, in terms of functionality, from Castle Crashers; so consider the game only if you want to play in single or in local, trying to get better scores everyday.

There are more than 30 real fighters, a number of arenas and competitions and the chance to create your own superstar from scratch and track adds a very important added value.

Even without the magic touch of Echochrome, Echoshift still delivers a nice puzzle experience, surely one of the best available for Playstation Portable. It would have been even better with a level editor for a longer lasting appeal.

The lastborn from Telltale is once again a great product. The game is witty, hilarious and has a great story, if you loved the previous chapters you'll love this one too. Unfortunately it's not as original as The Tomb of Sammun Mak, especially in the puzzle department. Get the whole series, you won't be disappointed.

The fifth title Pendulo revives an adventure that did not have the desired success, using as pillars surreal dialogues, an absolutely fantastic storyline, and fun from start to finish. Through a series of colorful characters, though very short, Hollywood Monsters 2 shows his best on a technical level, through perfect cinematics and animations.

This DLC gets a sufficient score only because the three maps are well made, with a significant difference between the gameplay on foot and the one on the Titans, featuring situations that are always different and extremely entertaining. But the contents are rather scarce.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a solid and surprisingly modern-feeling collection that relies entirely on gameplay that remains irresistible even today. It doesn’t offer many extra features and doesn’t really try to modernize the formula, but it perfectly preserves what made the trilogy special.

Layers of Fear is not a new game, nor a remake. it seems like a sort of definitive edition that includes the old games of the series and a new section that ties the two stories together. The passage to Unreal Engine 5 and the mild gameplay tweaks are not so relevant and add nothing to the game experience.

Old players who have grown up with the first two episodes of the Suikoden franchise and backers of the Kickstarter campaign will be the most pleased by Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes, and old school JRPG through and through. Divisive game design choices aside, what we have here is a solid effort, but also one that looks too much to the past and much less to the future of the genre.
