Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is a remarkable remake of a classic from '89, with an outsanding artistic direction and a clever re-arrangement of the original OST.

An experience that touches the soul and the heart, about the most precious present we can make to other people: our time.

Panic Button's work is commendable. On Nintendo Switch, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus offers the same quality of the original adventure, without altering the great personality of MachineGame's work. We can therefore unleash Terror Billy's fury against the Nazi army, embracing dozens of guns and experimenting original mechanics, at any time and in any place. The price to pay will be slightly limited graphics, but that does not hinder the dynamism that characterizes the action-packed gunplay.

FIFA 20 is one of the most balanced games in the series to date, and has finally slowed its frantic gameplay down a bit, but is not reinventing any of its modes and core mechanics as it looks like a transition title.

One of the more famous games of all time comes to today standards thanks to Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade; even if you don’t know this game and you don’t like 80’s games, you must try Outrun Online Arcade, because it’s a funny and frustration-free title.

Journey to Un'Goro is an interesting expansion pack, with some new pretty good ideas. Maybe the Quest feature could became binding very fast, but Blizzard, also this time, has managed to innovate its game.

Orc: Vengeance is a great looking hack'n'slash and is extremely fun to play, but it's also too easy and the touch controls need a little tuning.

Mixing a strong horror atmosphere and a solid “slo-mo” gameplay, F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin shines for the extension of the new levels. Its linearity isn’t necessarily a drawback (at least not for “old style” FPS fans), but it could still spoil the fun for next gen gamers, used to much more “open” games. Despite all of this, Monolith’s baby delivers a solid experience, and every FPS fan should at least give it a good try.

World to the West is the best game made by the people at Rain Games so far. It has a distinctive style, a sprawling map helped by a great level design and a successful mix of exploration, puzzles and combat.

As Tom Hullet said, this Silent Hill is a "fresh start" for the main saga. A new brilliant idea brings the player in a frozen world populated by ugly monsters without any weapons for self-defense. Unluckily, the exploration and escaping phases are completely separated from each other, knowing this the core experience looses its charm.

The Metronomicon is a good product, refined and polished. Rhythm game ethusiasts will probably love it but this is not for sure a game for everybody. The gameplay is neat and structured. The rpg elements add a strategic twist to the adventure, bringing innovation in a classic genre in which Puuba takes the opportunity to risk and succeed.

Fourteen years after the original release—and one year after its first reissue—Sonic x Shadow Generations remains an excellent video game that deserves to be discovered or rediscovered. The Nintendo Switch 2 version delivers a genuine technical upgrade, albeit with a few compromises. However, the lack of a free or discounted upgrade for owners of the 2024 version is hard to justify, especially given the complete absence of new content. If this is your first time playing it, consider yourself lucky: you’re about to experience one of the best Sonic games ever made.

Overwatch 2 is not a revolution of any kind, because it revolves around that identity that shook the market in 2016. However, the new composition of the teams must be assimilated, it is promising and rewards good players at the expense (perhaps) of novices. The free to play model seems perfectly in line with what the market offers (for better or for worse), but blocking the original heroes may not have been the best choice. Overwatch 2 is still the fun and captivating game it always was, and now it's free as well. Maybe there isn't too much else to know, after all.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII had a truly difficult task. The previous installment is still one of the best—if not the best—4X games available and often ranks among the most-played titles on Steam. At the same time, even though no competitor has quite reached its standards, rival games have attempted to innovate the genre by introducing new gameplay mechanics and adopting interesting variations on design principles established decades ago. Additionally, the success of the console versions forced the development team to adapt their new work for a broader, more diverse, and heterogeneous audience. These were three significant challenges, and we can confidently say that Civilization VII has overcome them. This seventh iteration does not rest on its laurels and is unafraid to propel the series into the future, even at the risk of betraying its roots. The game is noticeably sleeker, faster, and more intuitive to play, diplomacy finally has the importance it deserves, and longevity has significantly improved thanks to the separation between leaders and civilizations, which rotate throughout the matches. Civilization VII is an excellent strategy game, but that does not mean everything is perfect. After several hours of gameplay, we still struggle to get used to the new UI, the removal of certain units makes some actions feel overly abstract, and only future expansions will make the game truly complete. There’s no way around it: the biggest point of contention is the inclusion of only three historical eras—a radical design choice implemented by Firaxis to eliminate the chronic late-game fatigue. Despite the good intentions, this decision risks disappointing traditionalists, creates gaps that feel too pronounced within a match, and even within these eras, some phases feel lacking, with crises and objectives that don’t always hit the mark.

F1 2013 is the best F1 simulator of this generation and another great hit from Codemasters. It's a title that demands skill, tactics and commitment, but rewards players with a deep and satisfying experience. The AI and the damage systems might not be perfect, but it remains a great game with tons of content and options.
