  1. The movie is laugh-until-your-stomach-hurts hilarious.
  2. A richly textured and compelling film.
    • 59 Metascore
    • 75 Critic Score
True to the loose, funky spirit of the artists and their work.
  3. A pile of junk.
  4. Grossman does a workmanlike job with the film, but his direction and script don't really offer any great insight into Darby's tortured soul.
  5. It's a funny, mostly harmless and entertaining film with a bad case of dry mouth.
    • 56 Metascore
    • 25 Critic Score
This schlocky period piece doesn't do the pioneering Northern Californians justice. The script is overwritten to the point of parody.
  6. Given the juiciest plotline, Tamblyn goes for it, turning in a hard-boiled performance that's a needed contrast to her co-stars' tendency to go for sweet.
  7. Most audience members will probably want more.
  8. If we're going to be honest, we need to look inside and ask ourselves: Do we really want to see a listless movie about a woman whose dream is to move into a double-wide trailer?
  9. As for Fraser, his clumsy humanity is endearing, but by now, assuming he has invested wisely, he should have enough money saved so as to not have to waste his talent anymore.
  10. The mix of comedy and drama is winning; Costner couldn't be better, and the little girl is a find.
  11. It's a handsome and entertaining small-scale picture with nice acting, some crisp (and some crude) dialogue and effective direction.

    • 75 Critic Score
Mostly succeeds in unmasking the flaws of fetishizing skin-deep beauty.
    • 89 Metascore
    • 100 Critic Score
    Delightful.
  12. Knowing nothing about "X-Files" is no impediment to appreciating this for the well-acted, adult piece of work that it is.
    • 51 Metascore
    • 50 Critic Score
    Essentially a throwaway film.
  13. An amusing bauble.
  14. A very noble movie, which makes it interesting at times, but not often enough.
    • 61 Metascore
    • 50 Critic Score
Falls victim to some surfing cliches.
  15. A romantic drama that also offers smart commentary on class and economic differences.
  16. Shows how a documentary can be as moving and suspenseful as the best narrative feature.
    • 54 Metascore
    • 50 Critic Score
The documentary seems equally divisive. Like most of Young's recent work, it's scattered and unsubtle.
  17. Boy A will rivet you while raising issues about forgiveness and just who deserves it.
  18. An action blockbuster extravaganza that's sadder than sad and never pretends otherwise.
  19. Mamma Mia! is fun, the music's terrific and the cast is appealing.
  20. In the riveting Transsiberian, a train of that name adds international intrigue to the mix.
  21. A film one can admire, but it is not "likable," per se, nor does its director wish it to be.
  22. The talented fantasy filmmaker and heir to the "Lord of the Rings" throne gets the tone right throughout Hellboy 2, and the hip retro charm alone is enough to merit recommendation.
  23. A legit action movie.
