Rogue Legacy 2 is a case of a perfect sequel to a very good game that was among those that shaped the indie scene back at the beginning of the last decade. As such, it's a game that oozes quality content and well-crafted gameplay.

A worthy successor to XCOM: Enemy Unknown and a sublime turn-based strategy game in its own right, XCOM 2 has some technical issues but despite those it is still a strong contender for game of the year on PC.

Cuphead will push you to your limits. It is tough, punishing and it doesn't hold your hand, on the contrary, it requires your full persistence and devotion to its mechanisms. In the end, the feeling of success after each victory is indescribable.

The Crimson Diamond is a respectful tribute to a much older gaming era.

The Talos Principle 2 combines the pleasure offered by strong mind-benders, with a masterfully crafted story with very interesting philosophical pursuits.

Much shorter in length than Marvel's Spider-Μan, but more compact and immensely entertaining, Miles Morales is a must buy, regardless of whether you had experience with its predecessor.

Despite not introducing many "radical" additions to the series' established gameplay (we will probably have to wait for the game's expansion packs for those), Civilization 6 builds upon the recipe already provided by Civ 5 and its expansions, and improves upon it in every possible way.

The campaign of Battlefield 1 can only be described as short and sweet. The intro to the game may be one of the best anti-war odes we’ve seen in years. Combine all of the above with the very deep multiplayer, along with the best visuals in the industry and an amazing atmosphere and you have an amazing, albeit pricey, package.

LotV provides a wonderful, well-designed package for a completely lackluster story (not even a slight comparison to SC:BW). However, the re-designed multiplayer is where the game really excels at, playing without competition (pun not intended) in the RTS field. Add the new, brilliant and fun co-op modes (Archon and Co-op missions) to the mixture and you have a title which will occupy you for a long time.

Monster Hunter: World offers unique gameplay of high quality. However, the whole package could have been an order of magnitude superior if it included a properly designed online party system and the port from consoles was better taken care of. But even like this, MH:W is worth every penny it asks.

Legion is brimming with content for every appetite. Blizzard have managed to re-capture a spark of their past glories in terms of storytelling, delivering a satisfying experience in all aspects of the game. It is now up to their hands to build on this well-constructed foundation and do not prove the expectations, which have justifiably arisen, false.

In the wake of my first complete Deadfire playthrough, I can conclude that it is a wholly improved sequel in virtually every aspect of its predecessor, and a highly entertaining RPG which will certainly be a candidate for GOTY 2018.

Doom Eternal does not target to those who want a standard FPS to kill their time. It requires dedication, a lot of patience and, above all, to play by its own rules. If you don't, it will crush you. But if you play according to them, then you have just found your next favorite FPS.

Owlboy is a joy to play from start to finish and, on top of that, a sensational audio-visual experience. It may be just a hunch, but I think this great adventure will be remembered fondly as a classic in years to come.

Despite the high level of difficulty, Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the best of its kind. Considering the excellent presentation and the lovable fairy tale atmosphere, it is certain that the experience will be firmly imprinted in your memory.

Although the UWP requirement is possibly a dealbreaker, Forza Horizon 4 is a must-have for every "virtual" driver out there, created by people who are really in love with cars.

If you like action games, the two Uncharted games are an excellent proposition, even in the year 2022, and will keep you company for about 25 hours. It's not often that we see such thoughtful and well-crafted games on our monitors, and hopefully in the future Sony will add the first three Uncharted games to the bundle.

Subnautica is an atmospheric, wonderful survival game full of surprises. You never know what to expect every time you dive in the depths of the ocean.

A relatively light but high-quality tactics game with an original job system that still remains fresh many years since the original release.

A must-buy for fans of the Stealth genre, and a safe bet for those looking for a well-crafted third-person escapade that combines solid gameplay with high-quality, movie-like production values.

The very good did not get even better this year. The NBA 2K18 is a real jewel that was not wrapped so well as it should be.

Another high-quality title from Capcom, which stands out for its innovative gameplay mechanics.

After Fate of Atlantis, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is perhaps the best adaptation of the beloved hero on our screens.

Taking some hints from Dark Souls, Hollow Knight offers a solid experience through and through. It is outstanding value for money, delivering high quality content, elaborate level design and stunning attention to detail, for a low price. Without any exaggeration, it is one of the best Metroidvania games ever made and one of the most prominent titles this year.

Deathloop is a welcome breath of fresh air for all fans of titles like Deux Ex, Dishonored or even Bioshock or Splinter Cell. It may in no way match the top games of the genre in terms of quality, but it still offers immersive sim entertainment and keeps the genre in the spotlight.

Blizzard did the obvious: literally transformed Diablo 3 to what it should have been from the start. It took them some time, but finally Blizzard got the message and moved finally to the right direction. While we expect the next expansion, fans of action / rpg can now sleep peacefully ... the king is here!
