Gensou: Skydrift is an awful game. There are 101 far more capable kart racers out there offering better value for money and far more fun.

Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl is an awful game riding on the Jay and Silent Bob name. There are no redeeming qualities and it’s another dark mark on the otherwise fantastic View Askewniverse.

Taxi Chaos might be a shameless knock-off, but it at least has the distinction of being a fantastic shameless knock-off. Taxi Chaos does what SEGA don’t.

Outbreak Endless Nightmares is poor on every level with no redeeming features. The gameplay is dated, the systems are ridiculously convoluted, and the general presentation is poor to the point of insulting.

Despite ALVO’s flaws, it is a perfect complement to PSVR’s only other VR military shooter. It’s not very polished and the guns and music sound lacklustre, but if you’re looking for a run and gun shooter that feels more like Call of Duty and less like Rainbow Six: Siege, this is the game for you. Here’s hoping that Mardonpol continues to support the game with the promised additions and that the players continue to log in to keep the bots at a minimum.

Hellbreachers is overly simple and without any real challenge, even with its boss fights. This is not the adventure that you’re looking for.

If you’re not a fan of visual novels games, you probably won’t be converted by ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos. However, if you’re looking for the next engrossing visual novel to get your teeth into, this will provide a captivating sci-fi story with a surprising amount of replay value.

Pocoyo Party is not the good time it should have been. The mini-games are too few and too shallow, and the motion controls are an absolute misfire, especially considering the target audience for the game – young kids who can’t be trusted to hold their heads up straight, never mind a controller.

A quick and easy physics puzzler, Freddy Spaghetti is an enjoyable and at times challenging game. With a great variety of puzzling scenarios on offer, it would be hard not to recommend this one if you are a fan of simple physics puzzlers, and with it currently sitting at the same price for a pint on PSN right now, it’s going for a steal too.

Sir Lovelot doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. And what it is is the story of one man’s search for the perfect girl in a beautiful but dangerous pixelated world. The platforming can be difficult, but the super tight controls keep the game and the fun going. If you like platformers or pixel art, you should check this little Romeo out.

Die With Glory is witting, charming, and gorgeous to look at – it’s also good fun to play, too. The only real letdown is the controls which can be a bit of a headache. Mostly, though, this is a fun point-and-click adventure that’s over just a little too soon. Apparently, Sigurd’s story continues, but when?

Bite the Bullet’s mix of arcade side scroller and RPG mechanics combine to create an enjoyable pick up and play experience, even if the story does leave a lot to be desired.

The small three-person team at developer Wayward Distractions has delivered one of the cutest games of the year, but it’s not just for kids. It’s not a punishing precision platformer by any stretch, but it isn’t easy either and it managed to be fun even in the more difficult sections.

In Rays of The Light is a masterclass in building tension and horror, all without slipping into the familiar tropes.

The Five Covens has got to be given marks for trying. Developed over five months as part of a University project, The Five Covens is an impressive achievement, but it’s just not up to standard against other games at a similar price point.

With an intriguing story, interesting location, and exploration that feels rewarding, Die Young is a great example of a survival sim done right. Combining so many elements we have seen before into one neat package, I was thoroughly impressed with what Die Young had to offer – do not let the cut scenes put you off!

On the Road – Truck Simulator is a poor, pale imitation of bigger and better games. It has the basics right and the systems do work, but everything else is shockingly poor.

Colossus Down is the latest instalment in the Psychotics Universe. It lures you in with its charming and cartoonish visuals. Whereas, in reality, the game is bursting from the brim with dark humour and has many witty pop culture references throughout.

Escape From Life Inc is a wacky little platformer that suffers from some dodgy controls and familiar puzzles. The charming characters and interesting story do their part to redeem the game and make it an adventure worth seeing if you’ve got a tenner burning a hole in your pocket.

Luckslinger is retro and it makes no bones about it. It’s a fun shooter/platformer that anybody over the age of 40 will feel instantly comfortable with, while young guns may need a bit of time to see the appeal. The luck mechanic doesn’t have that much impact and the game could have gotten by without it.

Eldrador Creatures is a simple but fun turn-based game that was clearly made with younger players in mind, and with that being considered, it’s a good jumping-off point for new players to the genre.

Potion Party is a bubbling concoction of feverish potion-making action. You may not be brewing any Butterbeer’s for wizards, but you will be spending a lot of time synthesising ingredients into potions for sale. With the resource management mechanics, you’ll find yourself attempting to use your time wisely and strategise several steps ahead. This experience is definitely best played in couch co-op for its fun teamwork elements.

Aerial Knight’s Never Yield is a good game with a great soundtrack and loads of style. It’s short, sweet, but a bit too simple to sustain itself for more than a few short hours unless you crank up the difficulty.

Drowning isn’t a fun game by any stretch – it’s actually quite dark and depressing – but it delivers a powerful message and by the end of this teenager’s tragic tale, you’ll be moved in one way or another.

Boxed In is a deceptively simple game about matching colours and breaking blocks. It really doesn’t look like much, but trust me, once you’ve played an hour of Boxed In, the next dozen or so will fly as you promise yourself “just one more go."

Rise of the Slime attempts something new in the deck-builder genre with mixed results. The core gameplay loop is fun and engaging, but it’s let down by the positioning system that more of a frustration than a gameplay elevation.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt is an enjoyable hunting simulator that gives you the chance to hunt something different with its use of pre-historic beasts. However, with the limited number of dinosaurs and tedious, grinding progression, you might tire of this one before long you’ve filled the trophy cabinet.

War Dogs Red’s Return is fun but woefully short and shallow. There are worse games in the genre, but sadly for War Dogs, there are plenty of others that do it better. The poor story and lack of any real challenge means that this is one game I am unlikely to play ever again.
