Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl, an all new side-scrolling brawler set in the world famous and beloved View Askewniverse, is now available as a fully functional cartridge compatible with the original NES. This cartridge is a full game playable by either one or two players!

There are three color variants available - Silent Bob Green, Jay Yellow, and NES Grey.

Each copy of Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl comes in a retro box that has been painstakingly crafted to be as authentic as possible. The box is printed on the same material as original retro boxes and matches the same flap design at the top. The metallic gold ink on the "Limited Run" seal has also been matched to the original seal's ink.

Included in the box is a retro manual, dust sleeve, and of course, a styrofoam block to hold the cartridge up inside the box. Each copy of the game will arrive shrinkwrapped.

The game itself was programmed by Tomas Guinan from Spoony Bard Productions.

Unsurprisingly, there's humour throughout, made evident by one Trophy tasking you to beat up the Easter Bunny to avenge Brodie. The route to a Platinum via 21 Trophy targets also seems like plain sailing, but once you realise that 0.0% of players have been able to 'Clear hard mode in one run without a Game Over', you'll recognise that you mightn't see the sailboat everyone keeps talking about. Perhaps if you wished that Double Dragon IV followed in the first two arcade games' presentation style, then Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl's 8-bit throwback approach is not for you. Regardless, for those of us who crave more in the same vein of Technōs NES bickety bam beat-'em-ups, then playing Mall Brawl may just be your retro Wolvie berserk style. What else are we gonna do? Snootchie Bootchies!

Despite being frequently infuriated, I probably would’ve pressed on and rolled credits had I found a single element that captured my attention. Unfortunately, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl is a serviceable beat-’em-up at best, and any real enjoyment will come solely from nostalgia and callbacks for fans of the IP.

While Jay and Silent Bob diehards may get some enjoyment out of this, possibly with the aid of certain cigarettes, most people will struggle to do so. It’s often difficult and frustrating, more down to a rigid determination to mimic 30-year-old game design than by intention. Even when things are going smoothly, it’s all too simplistic to have much fun with. It’s memorable for the wrong reasons. [Issue#3, p.127]

Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl is an awful game riding on the Jay and Silent Bob name. There are no redeeming qualities and it’s another dark mark on the otherwise fantastic View Askewniverse.
