While the 50+ hours it takes to complete the game may sound daunting, they really do fly past - something that can't be said about a lot of things these days.

Yakuza 3 sets its own pace with its heartwarming story about modern day Japan. And beyond the lovingly created Shinjuku pastiche lies a well-crafted fighting game that can hold its own. Colour us impressed.

Although the singleplayer campaign is entertaining enough, it is in the multiplayer that this game really shines. Almost perfectly balanced, the vehicles, destructible buildings and team-play make this game a joy to play and a must for any fans of the genre.

Despite the slightly clunky controls and some parts of the story not meshing properly, Quantic Dream have created a game that breaks the norm. By being normal.

The gaming mechanics and the polish really impress, but the story never reaches as high as the first game. But despite that I'd like to visit Rapture time and time again. More sequels please.

Heavy focus on infantry cooperation, on both squad and platoon level, can put off anyone used to a more typical Modern Warfare style of gameplay. Those willing to put some effort and time into MAG will discover a complex game with a huge number of players, which can bring great satisfaction when deployed properly. MAG currently suffers in lack of variation and few maps but those issues are easily fixed, while more irritating flaws such as server lag and graphical bugs will take longer time. Nevertheless, MAG has a great foundation from start and team players all over the world might discover an unpolished gem.

Army of Two:The 40th day is one of the best co-op games on the market, thanks to the great controls, the smart AI and the rare gem that is vertical split screen. There's no excuse not to pick up a controller and start mowing down enemies - just do it!

Despite the name, this is more of a puzzle-game than a shooter, and the wonderful fluid-physics create a very enjoyable experience, although the game is fairly short and much to easy. For the price though it is still a good game and a nice addition to the PixelJunk-series.

Taking inspiration from games such as Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassin's Creed, The Saboteur lacks the polish of either of those titles. However, the end result is greater than the sum of its parts, and Pandemic Studios last game is a charming and entertaining sandbox-title, with a nice graphical touch.

Despite the quite slow start, Ezios adventures in beautiful Florence and Venice both look and feel amazing, and are well worth experiencing to the very end.

Braid is a fantastic gaming experience that PS3 owners have missed out of for far too long. It's depth is only surpassed by the engaging puzzles.

While the heavily scripted and way too short campaign is a disappointment, the new Spec-Ops mode, especially when played in co-op, and the great multilayer make up for it. The polish shines through in every aspect, from the graphics and sound to the controls and multiplayer balancing. Prepare yourself for a game that is sure to take you on a thrilling ride.

Pro Evolution soccer is a good improvement since last year, and is more arcade based than previous years simulations. All you need to do is pick up the controller and enjoy the beautiful game.

This game might entail the best RPG story there is on the PS3 - and is well worth every one of the 100+ hours you'll spend playing it.

DJ Hero has managed to take the rhythm action genre yet another step forward with it's smart and simplified DJ controls and delightful remixes. This is the easiest way to feel like a real DJ right now without having to pursue such a career.

Trine is impressive with its beautiful and addictive platforming and Lost Vikings-esque gameplay. However, there's a lack of challenge in the early parts of the game, and the short game time leaves a bit to be desired. Frozenbyte should be applauded for their efforts though, and Trine is well worth the money.

With Borderlands, Gearbox promised us a unique gameplay in what they call RPS - Role Playing Shooter, and they also promised us a brand new visual experience with cartoon-styled graphics and stunning colors. And they delivered both. However, they didn't manage to deliver compelling story or a vibrant world full of people and amiable characters.

The beautiful flow of the game on the pitch makes this arguably the greatest football game yet, and a few problems with the online component and manager mode can't stop this from being an essential purchase for all fans of digital soccer.

Tim Schafer has created a wonderful and rich world of heavy metal for us to enjoy. His screwball sense of humour, mixed with all metal stereotypes known to man, is worth every penny. The game is as action-packed as we'd like it to be, but the storyline is far to short. We want more!

Naughty Dog have created an amazing movie adventure on the PS3 with unparalleled graphics, fantastic dialogue and amazing platforming elements. There is no need to wait for the film version of this game, as it's already arrived in everyone's living room. Unmissable.

Adorable graphics and very solid gameplay mechanics create the best puzzler on the Playstation 3. The learning curve creates an increasingly difficult game, and sometimes it feels as if too many gameplay variables are introduced, but for the bargain price this is a must-buy for any puzzle-fan.

It's impossible not to love Katamari completely, despite the fact that the concept, camera and controls hardly have evolved at all.

A great, but not very new puzzle game about a marble and its way towards the goal, The music, the easy playing style and the puzzles all contributes to its greatness, but the camera controls leave a lot to be desired.

Need For Speed: Shift is a major turnaround for the series, and a very successful one at that. The realistic racing and beautiful graphics complete a package that should please any racing fan.

This is the best part of the series so far. EA has found a winning formula for making ice hockey games. The new additions of board playing and fighting after the referees whistle makes it even more realistic.

The Beatles: Rock Band is filled with charm, authenticity and the exact right feeling that's required for an excellent Beatles experience. The option to have 3 vocalists means that the multiplayer actually extends to 6 players at a party, and even though the songs in the late part of the game aren't as engaging this game won't disappoint any fans of their music.

Mini Ninjas offers a colorful and fun glimpse into the culture of ninjas. The game itself is a little bit short but it makes up for it by adding a wonderful mix of charming characters and moments that are suitable for all ages. Simply put, this is a must have if you love ninjas and Japanese culture in any way.

The pessimist in me never thought that it was possible to make a really good game from a popular license, but Rocksteady have managed to do just that with Batman: Arkham Asylum. The game is second to none in the genre, and beats all contenders with a mighy bat-punch!

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Age of Heroes is a new acquaintance of mine and it's far too hard for our taste. The controls are exact, but difficult to master. This is considered the ultimate tactical fighting game, according to many, and we are inclined to agree. Well worth the money.

Singstar Queen is all a combined Queen and Singstar fan could hope for. Some vital songs are missing, but for the most part they are all there. If you hate Queen, don’t bother, but if you would love to pick up where Freddie left off then this if for you.

Fat Princess is an amazing concept that should have had a longer beta test, so that the bugs could have been ironed out. But the more they're fixed the better the game gets, and this may well become a really successful franchise.

This remake of the now classic Battlefield: 1942 offers high paced and fast action straight out of the virtual box. The entertainment value is enormous, even though it lacks some variation in gameplay and has minor design flaws in private game sessions.

This game offers such an immense variety of levels and fun gameplay that you cannot simply ignore it, even as an adult. Kids will absolutely go bananas over the fun characters, the colorful environments and the fun storyline. The only let down is a touch of the soggy control syndrome, but hey - chances are you won't care if you're a 10 year old kid.

Bomberman Ultra is exactly what we want from the Bomberman concept. Easy, highly detailed game configuration and loads of fun and yelling out of frustration, delight or simple anger. Many Bomberman games in the last decade have been disappointments. This one isn't one at all. It's excellent.

This game has it all, weird bosses, old school 2D sprite graphics and satisfactory droid destruction. A sweet blast from the past that reminds us about the glory days of the Megadrive (Genesis). You can't go wrong with Gunstar Heroes.

Manhattan is infected by the same virus that gave you superpowers and a human life is worth close to nothing in your quest for revenge and truth. Prototype is is a great apocalyptic game, and it's only what it lacks in story telling and AI that prevents it from getting a higher score. Not for children, though.

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a gargantuan and generous RPG/shooter with driving tendencies and tons of diverse missions that can be performed in any pace. The multiplayer is good too, and has diverse weapons, some new backpacks plus more than just the regular game types, including a hotseat mode.

ZEN Pinball is a blast for both fans and casual players of pinball. The four tables included are not the best out there but sweet sound and graphics along with nice multiplayer features and the possibility of new DLC material makes this one a keeper. A must have for any pinball loving PS3 owner.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a fun and thrilling game with lots of surprises. It comes bundled with a remake of Escape from Butcher Bay which is a nice touch, and the newly added multiplayer feature adds more hours to your gaming experience. The dark settings provides tense environments, even though it's a bit rough around the edges, but the sound and voice acting is top notch! Turn up your subwoofers for a Vin Diesel bonanza - this one's a keeper for all scifi action fans.

Comet Crash is so much more than first meets the eye. I expected a simple tower defense game, that did not look too good. Instead I found a full blown RTS that even entails a few unique features. Way to go, Pelfast!

Capcom's latest adventure focuses more on action than on horror and puzzle solving, but still manages to retain the classic Resident Evil feel. Some elements are baffling, such as the African setting and the fact that you have to stand still during battles and can't purchase ammunition, but overall this is a well-made game that deserves to be played. A bit more innovation wouldn't have hurt though.

Killzone 2 is by far the best first person shooter on the PlayStation 3, with unprecedented graphics, impressive physics and a multiplayer experience that deserves to be played. Guerrilla Games have created an unforgettable action adventure with varied gameplay, intelligent AI and imposing enemies. You don't want to miss this game.

Street Fighter IV brings back a refreshing wind of kicks and punches to the genre. It has placed itself amongst the top five beat 'em ups ever, with gorgeous graphics and highly advanced gameplay. The only drawback is the lack of more offline content and an online tournament mode. But who cares when you once again can set up perfect Hadouken in your mates face, but this time in glorious HD.

Flower delivers a relaxing and vibrant gaming experience that borders on art. If I was a potted flower, then this is what I'd like to dream about.

Out of the 40 standard games in this collection, about half of them are really good games, and there's hours of fun to be found here. It's a pity that there's no online multiplayer, but these games should be played on the same screen anyway.

Ubisoft haven't just rebooted the Prince of Persia franchise, but they've alse reimagined the Prince and his adventures in a waterpainted praline with a distinct design that's Oh-so-tasty. Perfect platforming an a strategic emphasis on the hand-picked battles make this adventure an absolute must for everyone who loves a good adventure.

With its gorgeous celshaded graphics, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm manages to blur out the difference between anime and games, and creates a seamless gaming experience that is both delightful and fun to play. The only real downside is the simplicity of the controls and the lack of online modes, but who cares when fighting is this enjoyable?

Though Valkyria Chronicles is one of the first real strategy games for the PS3, it doesn't play it safe. With original watercoloured graphics and gameplay choices, such as the command point structure, this war is not one easily forgotten.

Everything in Resistance 2 is bigger - all the way from the giant bosses to the 60 player online games. The arsenal is well-balanced and the gunfights are intense. Some more innovations would have been appreciated, but the shine and polish that Resistance 2 shows is more than enough for a recommendation.

Old fans of the series may not be expecting a game like this, but Fallout 3 is ambitious and more than lives up to the high standard it sets, and will be enjoyed by both newcomers and veteran Fallout players. Bethesda have managed to create a sturdy strategic element to the first person perspecitve but have ultimately failed in creating believable characters, which may disappoint some.

Heaps of new songs, a solid online experience and well-constructed drums make Guitar Hero: World Tour an enjoyable music game that works well at parties. Some more streamlined menu controls would be nice, but overall the game delivers an excellent multiplayer experience.

10 hours of gameplay with crazy humour, a fun story, engaging characters and great turn-based rpg action? Yes please!

PlayStation 3 players are in for a treat when they descend into Rapture for the first time. The story may be linear, but it's extremely engaging, and the 1950's design is sublime.

Far Cry 2 feels little like the original, but its political story and expansive vistas still make it stand out as a game of its own. The large story mode and full-fledged online capabilities make Far Cry 2 one of the best first person shooters of 2008.

Whilst improving on practically everything that wasn't up to par in the original, this sequel is really only marred by it's delayed release schedule in Europe. A must for all music lovers out there.

Age of Booty is a competent multiplayer real-time strategy game that uses its pirate setting well. It is best played among friends on levels you designed for yourself or with strangers over the PSN. Single player levels are ok in itself, but offer no more than a tutorial and very basic gameplay.

With its mash-up of Event Horizon and the first two Alien movies, Dead Space creates a visceral and haunting experience that verges more on action than on horror. Despite its low replayability and linear story-telling, Dead Space is an excellent example of what an action game should be - a combination of high-adrenaline sequences and innovative design statements, in this case the brilliant user interface and the necromorph monsters.

The terrain alterations in Fracture are more than a gimmick, and actually change the way the game is played in more ways than one. The game promises to change the way we approach obstacles and manages to fulfill that promise completely, making this new-fangled feature one to look out for in future games.

It's an amazing feeling to be able to play MegaMan again. The story, the music and the courses all live up to the myth, but why does it have to be so hard?
