In a vast open world environment, the game invites players to incarnate Ezio, a privileged young noble in Renaissance Italy who's been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy. Ezio's subsequent quest for vengeance plunges players into an epic story that offers more variety in missions, surprising and engaging new gameplay elements, diverse weapons and a profound character progression that appeal to fans of the original Assassin's Creed as well as entice players new to the brand. The sequel has arguably changed for the better in just about every conceivable way...Assassin's Creed II truly offers an experience like no other, one that mixes history and brutality to sheer perfection. And it's absolutely massive. [Holiday 2009, p.38]
  2. Assassin’s Creed II is a worthy successor of one the most intriguing new franchises we have seen in a long time.
  3. Not only an unreservedly brilliant and compelling follow-up, but one of the finest games we’ve ever played. Boasting a suitably grand soundtrack, majestic aesthetics and masterful level design, Assassin’s Creed II is everything we could have ever wished for and so much more. Forget Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed II is without a doubt this year’s biggest and best.
  4. Assassin's Creed was easily one of my favorite games of the last decade, and I love the sequel even more. It has managed to improve on almost every aspect of the game, despite missing a couple of obvious and unfortunate mistakes. This side trip to Italy is a truly fantastic vacation and worth every dollar, euro, or gold Florin.
  5. Perhaps the ultimate testimony is the fact that it left us longing for another sequel, something the original certainly never achieved.
  6. Assassin's Creed II is more than a great sequel because it does things the first game couldn't even hope to accomplish. There are tons of surprises in store, so if you enjoyed the original – or even if you only kind of liked it – this is one of those sequels that absolutely must be played.
  7. To say the least, Assassin’s Creed II is a disappointment – not because it’s bad, but because we were promised so much more. Everything Ubisoft claimed they were changing has stayed the same, and what little new touches they’ve included fail to impact in the long run.

I gotta say its anPlayed the game for 26hrs completing all its sidequests and tombs. I am reviewing this from 2020(11 yrs from release). I gotta say its an overwelming feeling its a masterpiece i have few issues though like the controls and outdated graphics (ofcourse its an 11 yr old game) Still i enjoy it as much as i enjoy ac origins. Whats great about this game is that it was set up just enough that i like it compelled to it. I like its progression, customization, sidequest puzzles etc. Its so much fun, i never get bored. The story and narrative is one of the best ever made, and the character is so immersive. To conclude, i enjoyed it from start to finish im gonna give it a 9! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Better and improved. Not the graphics though. The only thing that disappoint me. Is funny how the first Assassin's Creed had better graphics than the second one. However, in the middle of the game (close to the end) the story made me felt like it skipped something important and not enough explanation. Also, the ending is too easy. Punches some random assassin looking guy and then cutscene. I was not expecting to have a boss fight so soon, (Cant even say its boss fight since its so easy...) like i said, i felt like there r not enough explanation even though i fully understand the game. I was expecting more like the......classic assassin way? (i dont know, having a hidden blade fight or at least something like that.) Expand
