Figure Fantasy is a refreshing take on idle gacha RPGs that makes it a must-try for fans of the genre (or fans of figure collections, for that matter). Its beautifully rendered in-game figurines will likely satisfy any figurine aficionado - or aggravate that unquenchable thirst to collect them all.

Mini Motorways is a minimalist game with lovely visuals and a low-key soundtrack. The gameplay is pressure-filled, however, and may not appeal to those who are lacking in the organization and neatness department.

PUBG New State, ironically, doesn't offer a completely "new" state for players, but it does freshen things up a bit with new maps and some gear upgrades. Give it a go if you're an avid fan of the franchise - just be sure your screen can handle the clutter, and your hardware can carry the load.

A great management game with fantastic onboarding, however, once the story falls away some elements start to lose impact, leaving a sometimes hollow-feeling loop.

Tales of Luminaria is a bold new entry into the popular IP that I actually quite enjoyed. It's not the most casual or beginner-friendly game to get into with all of its controversial new features, which is contradictory to its attempts to capture that market. The portrait orientation and the one-hand controls might have been an attempt to keep the game casual, but the overwhelming new features might just be a barrier to entry in themselves.

Kathy Rain: Director's Cut is a modernized point-and-click adventure that brings back everything to know and love about the genre and updates it for the modern world. While I don't think anyone who's played the original title might find a whole lot of new experiences here, it's still a must-pick-up for new players who want a short but great way to scratch that nostalgia itch.

Metroid Dread is a slick and intense platform-adventure, and the most exciting Switch game Nintendo has produced in quite some time.

Indies' Lies is a compelling roguelike title that, while inspired by Slay the Spire, does manage to hold its own against other games in the genre. As a free-to-play player, you don't have to worry about pesky ads popping up and ruining your concentration. The first chapter is free with a few characters available to you. You can unlock the next two chapters along with the other characters as an in-app purchase.

Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery is a relaxing journey of art and music in a short but insightful package. It tugs at the heartstrings in all the right ways, but even if you’re not a fan of bittersweet stories, you can still get a kick out of the jaw-dropping visuals - or at least, get inspired to grab a cup of coffee and take a break from the chaos of daily life.

Tales of the Mirror is one of those games that will captivate you within the first 5 minutes, and will only build that up the more you play. Everything is perfect from an audio and graphic point of view, and when it comes to the narrative, you're in for a treat.

Code Atma has a lot of potential as an idle RPG that dives into the intriguing world of Indonesian mythology. The character art is simply stunning, but, unfortunately, looks aren’t everything, as the content of the gameplay itself is nothing to write home about.

Sixit offers a great amount of playability out of simple mechanics and the item-switching gameplay is a breath of fresh air in a genre mostly filled with gem-matching games. While it seems limited in its scope at first, once you unlock certain abilities, you will quickly be able to access and progress with an instant reward for clever planning. There are some things left to be desired with the control scheme, but it works for how the game is designed, for better or worse. The world and its story is interesting, the characters are charming and cute, and you’ll often get a chuckle out of what comes out of their oversized faces.

My Time at Portia is a gorgeous and totally upbeat take on the apocalypse, giving players the freedom to do whatever they fancy in a vast sandbox. There’s a lot of heart in all aspects of the game, so the price tag of $7.99 is totally worth it. Just be prepared to get sucked into the magic of Portia for hundreds of hours - and actually like it.

Punishing: Gray Raven is a heck of a ride with its adrenaline-pumping combat and ultra-smooth graphics performance. You don’t need to scale a paywall to excel at this game, so it’s a must-download for any RPG fan. Plus, the units you pull actually have a healthy dose of husbandos for a change (yay!).

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword still doesn't wholly convince a decade on, with flaky controls, drab visuals, and a dull over-world. But it retains enough of that irresistible Zelda magic to warrant a place on your Switch. Just.

Short, sweet, and totally addicting, Overboard! is a hilarious murder mystery where you need to do everything in your power to get away with murdering your own husband. It’s a game that doesn’t really take itself too seriously, so you don’t have to feel too bad about your multiple attempts to pin the murder on a poor unfortunate soul.

    V4
V4 offers players a wealth of content, but little of it is compelling. A decent combat system and beautiful graphics aren't enough to overcome a bloated upgrade system, poor voice acting, and a generic gameplay experience.

Overall, Sheep Squad isn’t a game for me. It’s possible but those that play a lot of the game Worm might really enjoy it - especially with the adorable range of animals to play with and their cool weapons, however the UI being the way it is makes the game just too challenging and hard to understand for me. Also there are a lot of pop-ups.

TMNT: Mutant Madness is a standard idle-RPG with a layer of Ninja Turtle paint. It doesn't do much wrong, but unless you're a huge fan of the series you might be put off by its overly simplistic gameplay.

The Everlasting Regret’s beauty is in its simplicity. The gorgeous ink painting art style is essentially just eye-candy disguised as a puzzle game, and - coupled with a stirring soundtrack and a tragic love story to boot - it’s bound to be one of the most underrated free-to-play games out there today.

Fantasian is a classic RPG at its core, with plenty of new tricks and a fresh art style to keep it relatable in the age of AAA cinematic experiences. The unique characters are delightful and full of intrigue, the story is engaging, and the visuals speak for themselves. Having multiple options for controls and a unique way of handling random enemy encounters makes this a game suitable for anyone looking to get lost in a fantasy adventure. While it’s not currently complete, if the game’s second half matches even a sliver of its first half in quality, the game will continue to be an absolute must-play title on Apple Arcade.

Whether you’re shooting wildlife, caravaning across a perilous river, or playing doctor with your crew, you’ll find that this life-management sim provides hours of entertainment, with a constant push to go further, see more, and explore the wild yonder. Adding a new graphical sheen to a game that began as a text adventure is a welcome addition, and seeing the Trail again at its best is enough to trick my nostalgic memory to think that it looks just the same as when I sat down to play it during class, and that’s a ticket I would buy again and again. While The Oregon Trail may not be for everyone and it doesn’t add too much to make it the best game it could be, it’s a great title to play when you’re looking for adventure, or peril to overcome.

Cozy Grove is a really interesting game, I love the style of it and I enjoy the story with each of the characters. It’s a game I find myself going into, at lunch time each day, as a part of my daily routine - much like Animal Crossing was about a year ago - so it seems to replace the need for a daily bit of casual and cute gaming. Building up my island and unlocking more spirits has been fun - and there always seems to be something new to discover in this world.

Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins is yet another fantastic found phone game from Kaigan. The puzzles may not be particularly inventive or challenging but the story is well-written and all the nods to the show are a delight to discover. It's a harder sell to anyone who's never seen Doctor Who but if you give a Blink a watch before playing I'm sure you'll like it too.

Unruly Heroes is an absolute gem of a 2D platformer that plays as well as it looks. The action-packed levels will keep you entertained for hours on end, but if you do need to take a breather, there’s a screenshot feature where you can apply filters and embellish a scene before saving it or sharing it with your friends - and you really will want to, because each scene is an absolute visual treat.

Kill it with Fire is clearly made as a PC first game, however the game can be played on mobile well, as long as you give it a bit of time. I quite liked the idea behind the game and the number of side tasks you can do.

Inked is a unique puzzle game that’s at its best when you pause and marvel at the beautiful hand-drawn world around you. It’s not meant to be played through in a single sitting, as puzzles, while varied, do tend to get tiring after a long gaming streak. It’s best enjoyed a chapter or two at a time, though that’s not to say it’s not engaging, because reveling in the stirring musical score alone is already well worth your time.

Lyxo is a simple concept - it’s just reflecting light - but as a puzzle game, it feels refreshing and relaxing. It’s great to be able to play such a soft and simple puzzler that doesn’t seem to want to rush me or limit me to the number of lines I can draw. The graphic style, though minimalist, continues to feed into the simplicity and relaxing nature of the game itself. If you like puzzle games and are looking for something less stressful, Lyxo is well worth downloading and with 87 levels, you will have plenty to work through!
