The Machines isn't quite the killer app that AR gaming needs, but it's definitely an entertaining and engaging experience. The violence is thick and meaty, and there's a good level of strategy here. If you've only got enough money to spend on one AR game, then I'd probably make it this one. Just don't expect it to completely blow your mind like the people in the trailer.

Polara is a unique twist on the auto-runner, and is packed with clever ideas and bonus content. It's just a shame that the difficulty has been defanged

An atmospheric zombie shooter whose annoyances are outweighed by production values which put full-price games to shame.

Jet Car Stunts feels right at home on Vita. The new Collector mode gives veterans something to sink their teeth into, but newcomers may be put off by the game's difficulty.

A reasonably simple game with some hidden depth. If your current chess or RTS game is all played out, Catan should be next on your list.

While it can't pretend to be breaking entirely new ground, SteamBirds: Survival manages to refine the concept of the original and turn it into something even more tense, gripping and addictive.

Breakout updated. Wizorb is more intense than your average stab at the format. And the inclusion of extra abilities and retro appearance refresh a genre that didn't seem to be going anywhere.

An amazingly well featured music making package for your PSP. It takes time and effort to yield Beaterator's fruits, but for those looking to take their first steps into music production it's a fantastic place to start.

Forager suffers from awkward – and uncustomizable – touchscreen controls, but the core gameplay remains intact on Android. From a massive skill tree to the adorable graphics, Humble Bundle's iconic survival game is just as fun as it was in 2019. A controller is by far the best way to tackle this mobile port, but there's still a lot of fun to be had even if you need to make do with the virtual gamepad.
