As cheap and cheerful as it is, Random Heroes: Gold Edition can feel a little slight and mindless at times. The level design takes a while to change up and, whilst enemies and weaponry can vary, you can settle on a favourite hero pretty quickly. Money gives you reasons to explore each nook but there does come a point where it doesn't matter so much. The pixel art is detailed but the geography of each level becomes familiar and a little stale as you move on. I did have fun but it felt fairly short-lived.- PlayStation Country

Our resident Turrican expert loved the previous Turrican Flashback compilation and this offers all that that collection did but with Director's Cut of Super Turrican, so this is a good option for fans of the classic run and gun series.- PlayStation Country

I think Pocket Bravery is a fantastic homage to those old fighting games. It has some issues, mostly with inconsistent difficulty but there's plenty of fun to be had. The modes seem pretty extensive and, whilst the cast is on the smaller side, it does showcase some diversity. The in-game sprite work is wonderfully detailed and there are moments for the art to really flourish. I really like how this has come together and the combat feels very considered.- PlayStation Country

Ghost of Tsushima is a beautiful open world game with satisfying stealth and combat. It does little different to other games of a similar nature and the combat camera needs some tweaking but those who like exploring and savour filling in a map are in for a treat.- PlayStation Country

Judgment offers more of the same for Yakuza fans, with a slight hint of detective gameplay. Those looking for a deviation from the formula may be disappointed but it has the same strengths as Yakuza, with a new set of enjoyable characters and a strong, gripping crime drama narrative.- PlayStation Country

All the classic Contra gameplay but with enough polish, modernisation and features to make it worthy of the grand old series. We're just not sold on that price tag.- PlayStation Country

Many will shy away due to the concept alone but if you’re not put off by the ‘motivation’ scenes then Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors is a great JRPG. A nice change of pace from your usual ‘save the world’ adventure, a variation on the usual turn based battle system and a very well presented game all round.- PlayStation Country

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is more of the same and that's not a bad thing. People who have yet to sample the delights of the series should start at the beginning but fans of the series, and JRPG genre, are sure to be drawn back in to Rean's tale before eagerly awaiting part four.- PlayStation Country

Accessible but with a surprising level of depth, Super Mega Baseball 2 has managed to improve on the original with a very customisable experience. Some AI fielding anomalies aside, the sport is well represented in a bright fashion whilst remaining grounded enough to appeal to fanatics. It's a shame the online component is so limited but solo players can enjoy what is robust package.- PlayStation Country

Roguematch: The Extraplanar Invasion is a good combination of match three mechanics with dungeon crawling aspects, but is hamstrung a little by the harsh difficulty you’ll encounter in the second chapter. Some mechanics aren’t that well explained, but when the game is as addictive as chocolate coated peanut butter crack pieces, you’ll let it slide as we did.- PlayStation Country

Vampyr is the most unique RPG we've played in years. It may not be the slickest or most beautiful but it has a charm that makes the game much more than the some of its parts.- PlayStation Country

Inkulinati is an entertaining strategy puzzle game with an interesting medieval graphical style. Only in this game could a snail prove to be the most powerful unit on the battlefield. The campaign lends itself well to multiple replays. Plus there’s local hotseat multiplayer. Get to it.- PlayStation Country

Still Wakes The Deep is more than just a walking simulator in the tradition of Rapture or Esther. It nails the feel of bleak 1970’s Scotland to a tee and while everything goes to hell in a handbasket, your man Caz somehow managed to maintain his composure. Very much recommended.- PlayStation Country

Tethered is a fresh and welcome idea for PSVR that provides a worthy and challenging RTS experience. It capably proves that the genre is not only functional but also an incredibly good fit for VR hardware. If you were ever a fan of god sims then Tethered is worth your time.- PlayStation Country

We should have expected nothing less than this level of surrealism from the developers of Octodad: Dadliest Catch. Bugsnax is about as weird as they come. Yet, underneath all the cutesiness, strangeness and edible bugs there is a surprisingly deep, heartfelt storyline with a mystery worth solving.- PlayStation Country

Fatal Frame / Project Zero - Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a fair update of a 2008 Wii game that does a solid job bringing it to a new audience. Sure, it's not a brand-new main series entry, but it's good. Just don't try and run in the game, it's more of an exaggerated shuffle.- PlayStation Country

Yooka-Laylee is a fun retro styled 3D platformer with the buckets of wit and charm that made Rareware games so much fun to play, but along for the ride is a somewhat combative camera system that occasionally gets in the way. If you can overcome this then Yooka-Laylee is an excellent trip down memory lane for fans of Banjo-Kazooie and similar titles.- PlayStation Country

Biomutant is a bit of a slow burner. It took a while to get its hooks into us, but it sure did. It's not startlingly original and is a bit overburdened by its sheer scope, but we don't feel shortchanged by our forty plus hours playing it. You could do a lot worse.- PlayStation Country

Polished and mechanically interesting, Two Point Campus does a really good job of making further education seem exciting. The charming presentation and relaxed tone makes the grind of management easier to swallow, even with pressures like money and student satisfaction. It's not perfect with AI pathing being a slight concern, but there's enough here to keep me engrossed. It's a very likeable effort with plenty of depth to discover.- PlayStation Country

A lovingly recreated homage to Monster World IV for the Mega Drive. Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World captures everything that made the original release so much fun to play, while introducing quality-of-life improvements that keep the action/RPG fun coming in a streamlined fashion. There has never been a better time than now to give this underappreciated gem a try.- PlayStation Country

A series that was in danger of going stale has managed to take time off and re-evaluate what bedrock the foundations were built upon. Whilst more reserved in presentation, the racing recovers a serious edge that heightens the peril associated with one of motorsport’s more enticing arenas. Whilst I do miss the crutch of quick rewinds and don’t quite fancy the new Landrush mode, the majority of what’s on DiRT 4’s menu is served up exceptionally well.- PlayStation Country

Konami rightfully get criticism for not treating their old series' with respect. Castlevania Anniversary Collection does manage to rectify that. Eight fantastic classics are under one roof and, whilst the bonus content doesn't go far enough, there's some care to this that I wasn't expecting. M2's efforts have been astounding and fans should go home happy with this accurately recreated effort.- PlayStation Country

Turbo Overkill feels surprisingly dense. The shooting feels visceral and the movement at your disposal is very swift. Platforming can be a pain, especially on controller but the moments of frustration are worth toughing through. Pacing does take a hit when the enemy counts balloon in the third episode but I still enjoy this gory ascent into a dumb, cyberpunk world.- PlayStation Country

As someone coming back to the game eighteen months after release I have to say, if A Walk in the Park made me look back on The Surge fondly, then The Good, The Bad And The Augmented reminded me of the less appealing aspects of the base game.- PlayStation Country
