10Tons do it again. Another ace rogue-lite that delivers fun gameplay, addictive upgrading mechanics and a strong loot game. Ignore them at your peril.

Game sequels are generally refinements of a formula. Foxyland 2 isn’t, it’s worse. It’s Alien Covenant to the first game’s Prometheus. Almost everything about it is a retrograde step. Avoid.

Football, Tactics and Glory is a genuinely interesting mix that takes the fundamentals of football and uses them to make a novel turn-based strategy game. It could be slicker, more rewarding and bit fairer at times and it can feel like a step down from the likes of FIFA but actually it's an interesting evolution for the football management genre and while we personally didn't love it, we do love what it is trying to do.

It Came From Space and Ate Our Brains is an okay twin-stick shooter with okay gameplay and okay visuals. It's okay. Okay?

Normal Ratalaika service is resumed with this puzzle game with some nice ideas. As is usual for Ratalaika, double value with the Vita port and hence two easy platinums.

Zero Zero Zero Zero is an uncomplicated game from Ratalaika that provides a solid retro-tinged challenge in a gauntlet of spikes, lazers and a hundred screens of brutal obstacles. This is one to consider if you thought games like N+ and Super Meat Boy were too easy for your liking.

There's a really fun vertically-scrolling shoot 'em up here but the game is over far too quickly and that's the only real knock against it.

Reed Remastered is an excellent port of an already good mobile game with an added layer of polish not normally seen in Ratalaika releases. At this price and with the Vita version thrown in, nothing less than essential.

Spaceland may look like an XCOM clone but it offers a more puzzle focused take on the strategy genre. The limited ammo and level challenges make each short level a problem to be solved rather than a battle to endure. The variety suffers a little for it as does the lack of base management to break up the action but it's a fun game to dip in and out of.

Knightin'+ is a simple hack and slasher that takes no chances with the genre whatsoever but may appeal to adventurers looking for a simple to understand retro-themed challenge.

Townsmen: A Kingdom Rebuilt is a good mobile conversion that needs a couple of kinks ironed out, but an accomplished post-THQ Nordic acquisition release from HandyGames.

To be honest, Holfraine's a decent, bare-bones effort that does offer something cheerful in short bursts. It looks cheap in spots and there's not much personality or flair but, with a very cheap price tag, that can be forgiven. The characters have unique uses to them but I feel the map size and objectives cut any efforts to specialise them short. Holfraine's a little too simple for its own good but it's enjoyable.

Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet is just that, sweet. It’s a cute visual novel with absurdly easy trophies. Sure to appeal to genre fans and trophy whores alike.

Super Destronaut: Land Wars is a very basic FPS with a nice neo-retro aesthetic but is let down by a serious lack of challenge.

Red Death has moments where it is a rewarding and fun shoot 'em up but the dated visuals and chronic lack of longevity are huge issues.

Thunder Paw has some interesting ideas but most of them are actually for the worse and the basic gameplay doesn't do enough to make up for it. You'll get a PS4 and Vita platinum out of it very quickly and it's cheap as we've come to expect from Ratalaika.

Rainbows, Toilets and Unicorns offers a unique take on the vertically scrolling shoot 'em up genre but spends its very short lifespan telling just one joke and the gameplay is a bit of a one trick pony too.

Mekorama is a nice hot cup of tea and a pair of slippers in game form. Not for all, but good fun to relax with. Good value as usual with the Vita/PS4 crossbuy.

Deep Sky Derelicts is a wonderful turn based card battler with RPG mechanics you’ll go back to again and again. Hidden dice throws are still a git though.

Duck Souls+ is a cute gag and a fair Meat Boy clone but a bit frustrating with it. Better on Vita due to the superior d-pad.

Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike offers strategic, Mad Max-style car combat with difficult, choice-based gameplay. The gamepad controls aren't perfect but the tactical pause saves any issues this might cause and delivers a replayable challenge.

As cheap and cheerful as it is, Random Heroes: Gold Edition can feel a little slight and mindless at times. The level design takes a while to change up and, whilst enemies and weaponry can vary, you can settle on a favourite hero pretty quickly. Money gives you reasons to explore each nook but there does come a point where it doesn't matter so much. The pixel art is detailed but the geography of each level becomes familiar and a little stale as you move on. I did have fun but it felt fairly short-lived.

Dogurai is inspired by Game Boy action platformers in every way and does a good job of recreating both the presentation and the gameplay. It's short but very replayable and at a low price.

Rush Rover is a classy, well-considered twin-stick shooter with some good upgrading elements. It's short-lived and lacks clarity at times but is a cheap and fun way to fill an evening, if nothing more.

Blind Men is a short, easy platinum (or two) in the form of a boys' love visual novel. Being short it's not too deep or engrossing but for the price it'll probably satisfy those interested in the content or the trophies.

Gun Crazy is a short, side scrolling, run and gun shooter. Being from Ratalaika it's an easy platinum but the game itself doesn't last much longer unless you set yourself the challenge of beating it in 1CC mode. There is some depth to the controls but the short run time stops the game from really getting going.

Guard Duty is a faithful recreation of a golden-era point and click adventure on Vita and PS4. Yes, it’s brief but it’s definitely worth playing.
