A fabled alien derelict ship somewhere within the Deep Sky sector of space is your voucher for a citizenship and a promise of cozy life on a hospitable planet.

Build and control a squad of up to three mercenary characters and set on to explore derelict ships within your reach from the scavenger's base. Searching the derelicts for loot and clues, you come across many friendly inhabitants and traders, but more often -- various enemies. Challenge and defeat them in tactical turn-based fights, where randomly-drawn cards form your changing arsenal of combat actions, gain experience for yourself and your crew, loot dead bodies, resupply and upgrade once back at your base. The scavenger's home ship gives you the opportunity to heal and level-up your mercenaries, recruit new ones, equip them, upgrade their gear or recharge energy for life support during missions.

Deep Sky Derelicts is a wonderful turn based card battler with RPG mechanics you’ll go back to again and again. Hidden dice throws are still a git though.

Really entertaining futuristic tactic rpg similar to Darkest Dungeon.

A gorgeous comic book aesthetic and unique premise helps to alleviate Deep Sky Derelicts’ rudimentary and uneven card-based RPG tactics.

Expand

Although a good portion of the content is randomized, unlike darkest dungeon the maps stay the same throughout a single playthrough, so it basically plays like a regular RPG even though it might classified as a rogue-lite. The combat is also much different from Darkest Dungeon. It's the same as your typical turn-based JRPG where different characters take turns based on initiative.

There are some serious balance issues, and it becomes quite easy to build ridiculous decks that trivialize combat after the first half of the game or so. The story is pretty basic sci-fi, and doesn't compare to the brilliantly narrated growing horror of Darkest Dungeon's storyline.

All in all, I had a lot of fun. If Darkest Dungeon is a 10, this would fairly be rated as a 7.

I'm not spending hundreds of hours farming and rng crafting to do what i want just because the devs were too lazy to finish their game.. Avoid Expand
