Amongst the minigames there’s plenty of traditional platforming gameplay. You can see that the developers have played plenty of "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker." This is not a complaint, on the contrary. The only real niggles are the lacking save points towards the end of the adventure and some of the bosses come up way too often. [July 2005, p.66]

The PSP version of WRC has a different developer than the PS2-version - and it shows. New developer Traveller’s Tales has done good work in the past, but based on this the team lacks experience in the rally game genre. The cars sound lame, it’s hard to drive the Special Stages as it’s very unclear where you should be driving. Most of the time your car feels like it’s floating above the road. [Sept 2005, p 58]

Earth 2160 is a visually impressive and competent RTS game with lot of interesting game play elements. It doesn’t revolutionise the genre and playing it is feels the same as playing other games in the genre. Still, the whole package is slick, well rounded and plays well. If you’re looking for an deep sci-fi RTS game with a long quest, you could choose worse. [Sept 2005, p.74]

As the rest of the games in the series, Worms 4 is a blast when played with other people. Single player experience is mostly training for multiplayer, but still quite entertaining. The games biggest flaw is the usual sequel curse: there’s really not enough new content that you’d have to get this game, if you own the previous one in the series. [June 2005, p.72]

Another Code is an interesting pocket sized old school adventure. The adventure and its puzzles are also quite traditional in the unexciting sense. Luckily, the game and all its puzzles cleverly take advantage of DS’s dual screen and touch abilities. [August 2005, p.74]

Fahrenheit heralds the renaissance in adventure games. The puzzles are logical and use common sense. The cinematic feeling, excellent voice acting, gripping action sequences and excellent audiovisual elements complement the tightly woven plot. The story and scene’s change according to the players choices and actions, which has often been talked about, but rarely implemented as well as in Fahrenheit. The game proves that adventure games are not dead, they just needed to find a way to adjust. [Sept 2005, p.52]

MediEvil on PSP feels too much like a half-hearted rehash of the old PlayStation game, but with with some new faults. The fighting degenerates into a simple hack’n’slash, despite different weapons and attack combos. The controls are just not good enough for varied combat. Despite the repetitive and simple combat and platforming sections, the reason you keep on playing is the humour. Sir Dan is a very sympathetic character and its fun to follow his erratic adventures around Gallowmere and his strange interaction with other characters. Voice acting is excellent too [Sept 2005, p.66]

Lego Star Wars is really fun, friendly and colourful little game. It's not too complicated, but still very entertaining. You have to be a hardened cynic or a Star Wars hater not to like this game. The Force is indeed with the blocks. [June 2005, p.59]

You simply can’t offer more of the same when being the fifth game in a long running series. Dynasty Warriors 5 actually manages to take few steps backwards when compared to Dynasty "Warriors 4: Empires," mainly by dropping the excellent Empire-game mode. The button mashing action is still fun, but after five games and their extended editions, you kind of hope for something new to spice up the series. [August 2005, p.70]

It's nice to see that amongst the Gran Turismos of the world there's still space for light-hearted and fun arcade racers. MX vs. ATV has nothing do with realism, instead it pits monster trucks, motorbikes and air planes racing against each other. This is a very finely honed and fun game, which will entertain you for a long time to come. [July 2005, p.61]

Tiger Woods on the PSP suffers from the same problem as the rest of EA’s first batch of PSP games: long-ass loading times. You don’t get a good feeling for the swings using the PSP’s analog pad, which just isn’t accurate enough. Still, the PSP version has almost all the game modes from the home console versions and the new Legend Tour is quite fun as is equipping and upgrading your golfer. One of the EA’s best games in their first batch of games on the PSP. [Sept 2005, p.61]

PSP’s own version of THUG 2 is almost identical to the PS2 version. The graphics have suffered very little and the possibility to make your own skate parks is omitted. Otherwise, it’s basically the same game as on the PS2. [Sept 2005, p.69]

Even if God of War has a Pandora's box worth of small glitches, at it’s core it’s a supremely smoothly rolling action game. The game succeeds in everything it tries to achieve: there’s a constant onslaught of visually stunning action on the screen – and shameless amount of bare breasts and gratuitous violence too. At first, The Matrix Online is like a dream come true: your own Matrix. But then the cold, cold flames of its boring concrete hell, known as a game world start to get to you. Authentic, constantly developing storyline and one the best combat systems in the genre just don’t save the game from being monotonous and simply not fun to play. It’s as soulless as the world it tries to emulate. [June 2005, p.76]

Acid is an interesting new direction for the Metal Gear series. Real time stealth action transforms into a turn based strategy game. The card mechanic, collecting more cards and adjusting your deck keeps player coming back to the action level after level. Still, the story is not on par with other Metal Gear games and playing the game can be an slow and sometimes boring experience. [Sept 2005, p.63]

If you consider Lumines to be just another puzzle game or a modern successor to "Tetris," you miss half of the games charm. You don’t see the forest from the trees, as the saying goes. It’s more than a innovative and addictive puzzle game. It lives though it’s incredible soundscape and visuals. It challenges your senses as well as your brain. Not a step, but a leap forward for the puzzle game genre. [Sept 2005, p 56]

Untold Legends feels too much like it’s been made for home consoles and then squeezed onto a PSP, losing many small, but important features in the transition. Visually the game is really impressive, but the action is repetitive, the loading times are atrociously long and the slowly evolving story is just not interesting enough. Still, the game’s fun in small doses and especially as a multiplayer experience. [Sept 2005, p 62]

Dynasty Warriors on the PSP is quite a good conversion of the home console versions. Because of the technical limitations big battlefields have been split into separate small sections. This makes the PSP version lose the free roaming battlefields though, so all that there is to do is slash at hordes of enemies. [Sept 2005, p.67]

PSP's WipEout Pure has one fault: bad AI, but that can be forgiven since the game pretty much excels in all other areas. WipEout Pure is, as the name suggests, a return to the roots of the series and this has been a excellent design choice. The gameâ??s fast and smooth featuring great visual design and also the best use of the PSPâ??s wireless functionality. Users can download loads of new tracks, craft and skins to expand the game experience. WipEout Pure is the perfect Zen practice. [Sept 2005, p.54]

World Tour Soccer is a good all-around handheld soccer game with nice wireless multiplayer features. It’s most prominent fault is in the speed of the gameplay. Players zoom around the field like on fast forward, making playing a bit surreal. Even the camera doesn’t always keep up with the fast moving action.
