Black Mermaid understood the ideas that made the 2D Soulslike genre successful and added new mechanics that reflect its own identity. If it didn't have flaws like story being too messy and combat having balance issues, it could have made its mark among the best examples of the genre.

Marvel's Midnight Suns manages to make a hit with all comic book fans. By integrating cards into the XCOM-style turn-based combat system, it succeeded in enriching both deck building and combat system. If you want to hear firsthand about Wolverine being cut in half by a brutal Hulk, you have no other alternatives.

A gripping tale, intriguing supernatural obsessions, a divided family, and a chubby yellow cat. Cats and the Other Lives is a must experience for both puzzle lovers and those who are fond of story-based games.

Scorn makes up for its mechanical deficiencies with its wonderful design. Whether that will be enough for you to enjoy is your judgment call.

Unlike the usual historical games, it is a game that is very realistic and sometimes sad, but definitely needs to be experienced at least once.

In terms of story and atmosphere, it's a fitting finale that continued the legacy of the “Dark Pictures Anthology” series, but technical difficulties and the ongoing awkwardness of the gameplay are annoying.

It is not an easy task for a puzzle game to offer a lot of puzzles that stays true to its theme and make most of them enjoyable and rational. A Little to the Left achieves this.

Somerville is a prime example of how great ideas and great creativity can be overwhelmed by technical and design problems. But it still promises a good and different gaming experience.

The most up-to-date proof that Insomniac's Spider-Man franchise is holding up well. I wish it has a better pricing policy though. When it's on sale you can easily easily add +1 to the final score.

What we have in our hands is potentially the best Pokemon game in history. If the optimization issues had not undermined the enjoyment of the game, we might be talking about very different things. However, I have great hope that the game will improve in the future. If I had just one wish from Jirachi, it would be for Scarlet & Violet to run smoothly. Don't be in a hurry to purchase, but if performance issues are solved, as a PokeManiac, I would say don't miss this experience.

As the series goes big this time Bayonetta 3 is more personal than ever. It’s creativity and larger than life characters boast a huge amount of fun while it’s scope is mindblowing. I know it’s a dying breed of a game but even in it’s last breath it goes with bang. All action fans and series veterans should play this magnificent gem of a game.

Sunday Gold manages to combine two different genres beautifully and makes you curious about the details of its world and want to see more. Frankly, I can't wait to embark on new adventures with Frank, Sally and Gavin and get to know this world better.

This lighthearted and relatively easy take on the souls-like games is not only a good introduction for non-initiated players, but also a fun experience for the veterans of the genre.

Although it is still a very fun and enjoyable online FPS game to play, the fact that the in-game economy is so greedy and focused on exploiting the player, and there isn't anything in game that deserves that "2" in the name lowered the overall score for me. Unfortunately Battle Passes are now a part of these games, but Overwatch 2 has exploited that a lot. At least base game is free.

Persona 5 Royal is a JRPG that I can recommend with my eyes closed, open, one open and one closed, in any way you can imagine. It's a solid starting point for getting into both the genre and the Persona series. Yes, it's a relatively long experience, but it definitely worth it. The fact that it comes with such a successful PC port also makes my recommendation process much easier.

Ragnarök is here, and it is everything you expect from a God of War game (and some more). It has the personal, emotional storytelling of GoW (2018), epic and brutal battles of Greek-era and a unique, interesting take on Norse mythology. It's a beautiful and satisfying sequel through and through.

Unlike the first game, this is a pure travel story. Moreover, the new characters, new places we discover, and the Hugo-Amicia relationship that deepens in the middle of all this makes this journey a memorable experience. I was expecting this game to be good, but wasn't expecting this much.

The Case of the Golden Idol is one of the biggest surprises of this year. I liked the demo a lot, but I honestly wasn't expecting the full game to go far beyond that and offer a completely original and memorable experience like Return to Obra Dinn. You'll be sorry if you miss it.
