MLB The Show 24 delivers a solid third season of baseball on Switch in a port that keeps the gameplay fluid and delivers a full suite of modes, even if it does feel as though the console is really being pushed to its limit now. There are the expected visual downgrades, longer loading times compared to other platforms, and online can be dodgy, but a slew of modes, deep and satisfying gameplay, and that handsomely expanded Storylines mode patches over most of the rough spots.- Nintendo Life

You have to give the developers of Moto eXtreme an "A" for originality, but sadly the execution of the game's controls isn't quite as cut and dried.- Nintendo Life

Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll is a decent addition to the Monkey Ball franchise, but it simply sets the bar too high in the difficulty stakes to have long-lasting appeal.- Nintendo Life

Though somewhat underwhelming as a full experience, it's a decently fun (and cheap) party game. Just make sure to have friends to not touch anything red with.- Nintendo Life

SteamWorld is a well put-together tower defence game, though it can get very difficult after only minutes of play time. It doesn't do anything especially interesting or groundbreaking, but if you're looking for your next fix in the genre, then this might be for you.- Nintendo Life

Shuten Order is an ambitious visual novel that tells an intriguing story with consistently engaging characters and more than a few twists and turns. Unfortunately, with the inclusion of five distinct forms of gameplay driving the story, it ultimately feels bloated and directionless, and not one of the sub-genre sections is polished enough to stand on its own two feet. I wholeheartedly commend the audacious, multi-genre effort, but Shuten Order would have benefited from a lot more focus.- Nintendo Life

Luckily, the Switch version runs fairly well, with any frame rate hitches being minor and infrequent. However, the game can look a little muddy in handheld mode, with elements like the water in ‘Neo-Shinagawa’ looking like a giant blue wall you’re about to run into. The game also has some occasional glitches like ships flying through the track, although they’re infrequent.- Nintendo Life

Locomoto is clearly a game that puts the 'vibes' first. For a slice of its runtime, it was perfectly pleasant, but by the end, I was running on fumes. Yet, if it's a sedate and steady adventure with solid characters and a cosy atmosphere you're after, you'll love this. Just don't expect a lot of variety.- Nintendo Life

Epic Word Search collection is very much for a niche market. If you love a good word search and have a 3DS, there is every chance you will enjoy this game. There is a decent amount of gameplay to be had, and at its price it's your call as to whether it's worth the price or worth buying a few word search collection books instead. For those who don't enjoy word searches, it goes without saying that this isn't a download for you.- Nintendo Life

LEGO Star Wars III is fun, funny and charming, but it fails to innovate on the formula and relies too heavily on consequence-free combat, overly simplistic puzzle solving and automated interactions.- Nintendo Life

Snail Mail is by no means a bad game: its controls are tight, the action is fast paced, and the visual presentation is both stylish and smooth. Unfortunately the core gameplay is pretty one-dimensional, meaning your enjoyment of this game will rest almost entirely in the hands of those you play it with.- Nintendo Life

Those with fond memories of gawping at the amazing visuals back in the '90s will no doubt fall in love with Magician Lord's charms all over again and there are some neat ideas on show - such as the ability to morph into different characters - but it sadly hasn't aged as well as its contemporaries. There are plenty of retro games that are extremely difficult, but Alpha Denshi's game combines this with confusing level design to make for a doubly frustrating experience. Perseverance will eventually bring you round to its charms but most people will give up long before it gets to that point, meaning the main trick this magician pulls is making your patience disappear.- Nintendo Life

Overall, Adventures of Pip makes the biggest mistake a game can make: being boring. While the game had a lot of potential, it is brought down by being unmemorable. A great soundtrack cannot justify bland level design, a restrictive bit-switching gimmick, and a lacklustre story. There are far more imaginative and innovative platformers on Switch that deserve a look over this.- Nintendo Life

Instead of evolving, Yo-kai Watch 2 plays it safe by fusing new content – some good, some trivial, and some bad – onto a recycled frame, and the result is what we refer to as a sophomore slump.- Nintendo Life

If its numerous areas didn't feel quite so empty, if it had some more variety to its quests and one or two secret areas to discover as you explored its world it would be much easier to recommend, but, as it stands, this one is an inexpensive but pretty generic experience that won't sit long in your memory once you put it down.- Nintendo Life

Of the 16 Sega Ages games released to date, this sits nearer the bottom end of the scale. While it isn't quite as limited as the first Puyo Puyo, it's still very much a one-trick pony, and while it's entertaining enough for fans of the series, when you've got the far more feature-heavy Puyo Puyo Champions on Switch for only a couple of pounds or dollars more, this one is entirely unnecessary.- Nintendo Life

At just two - three hours in length, A Juggler’s Tale is a lean experience with little fat on the bones (though may still be a tad on the short side for some). Nevertheless, it’s a shame that the developer leant on the same type of puzzle for much of the game, as it makes certain areas feel repetitive as a result. If you’re a fan of games like Limbo and Inside, this is a nice alternative; just don’t go expecting a game of the same calibre or quality.- Nintendo Life

The Coma: Recut is interesting in concept, but flawed in its execution. Mixing survival horror with stealth and visual novel elements provides a unique side-scrolling experience. While the anime art style and slow pace might detract from the horror, along with the main mechanic becoming repetitive instead of scary, there is still enough narrative content to get invested in the twisted tale of Sehwa High.- Nintendo Life

Brave Dungeon + Dark Witch Story:COMBAT is an uneven package. Stripped bare of any superfluous elements, one game presents a decent dungeon crawl while the other relies far too much on luck to make it feel worthwhile. For anyone who enjoys the grind of turn-based combat, un-tethered to any arbitrary plot, then there's certainly enough here to justify the budget price, and the additional card game can be viewed as a bonus distraction or mini-game. If the basic mechanics hook you in then there's hours of snappy gameplay to enjoy, but the sheer repetition will potentially turn away anyone still on the fence.- Nintendo Life

Working Dawgs: A-maze-ing Pipes is one of those games that - silly name aside - really does nothing wrong. The problem is that it also fails to do anything impressive enough to make it stand out among other games of its kind. This is by no means a bad game, and it's a good option if you're looking to kill some time with relaxing puzzles that won't put too much of a strain on your mind or wallet, but its relative mediocrity is what stands out the most.- Nintendo Life

A little more effort on the part of the writers would have gone a long way toward making the narrative and characters less insufferable, but as-is most JRPG fans should be well-versed enough in this banality to look past it and enjoy the game for what it is.- Nintendo Life

Time Carnage harks back to the good old days of heading down to the arcade to play House of the Dead or Virtua Cop, where you'd drop a couple of coins into a virtual shooting gallery and kill zombies all evening. While this indie shooter lacks the reliable precision of those light gun classics, it at least offers an enjoyable FPS alternative amid Switch’s growing selection. Unfortunately, it’s not the best VR port we’ve seen, and its own brand of ultraviolent silliness soon loses its appeal.- Nintendo Life

It’s easy to see why this was such a polarizing title upon release. There’s a lot to love here, but Legend of Mana can be tiring in how much it likes to play ‘hard to get’. All the ingredients and individual pieces of a strong, impressively innovative RPG are present, but it feels like the developers simply tossed all these ideas in a bag and shook it vigorously, rather than taking the time to lay out all those ideas in a coherent and curated fashion. We’d give this one a recommendation, but only to fans of the genre, specifically those who prefer more experimental titles. If that doesn’t describe you, there’s still a good chance you’ll find something to like about Legend of Mana, but just be aware it may be more of a mixed bag.- Nintendo Life

Roguelite fans will probably be split on Ancient Weapon Holly. Its combat is fun and provides a good challenge for a while, though it doesn’t have the depth or personality to make it a truly great entry in the genre. Everything just feels too safe and predictable for our liking. It just needed something – a narrative hook or a more unique mechanic, to make us want to see humanity perish.- Nintendo Life
