Konami has finally found what they were missing during the last years - the magnificent gameplay. This year the players are smarter, the passes have more freedom and a lot of the game modes has been tweaked to the better. PES is back.

A game where virtually nothing is done for you, Settlers 7 is a deep and challenging real-time strategy game where you must ensure your society functions perfectly in every aspect. The new “victory points” system proves a breath of fresh air for a series that has otherwise been stuck in old habits.

This is not a game for everyone, but a truly revolutionary title for the true believers. There isn't a wealth of content to be found here, but what you do get is wrapped in a beautiful presentation with amazingly fluid controls to boot. Controlling the protagonist Faith is as fun as it is rewarding. If you've got the patience for some serious trial and error gameplay, this is one of the most original games released in a long time and a revolution for the platforming genre.

Apotheon includes all the ingredients for a great adventure in a true metroidvania-spirit. The theme of Greek mythology is rare in games, still it fits pretty good. The controls and the game mechanics is sometimes a bit complicated but offers at the same time rich variety. Probably the best metroidvania this year.

If you're a Disgaea junkie, having enjoyed the previous installments in the series, you will love this game. For the enthusiasts there are hundreds of hours of quirky strategy to be found and enjoyed here. There are few new features to be found though and the game camera is far from perfect. More of the same is the keyword here.

A very big sand box action game with lots of side missions and great atmosphere but with too much reused content from Yakuza 3.

The console version of Sims 3 isn't bad, but it's better on the PC. The control scheme is surprisingly good, and that well-known Sims formula is as good and addicting as always, but the problem is, you have to wait so much longer for everything to happen on this version. There's a lot of unnecessary loading screens in this game, and the menus can prove slow sometimes. But it's a good game that should keep many playing for a long time.

A video game played with real toys? Skylanders Spyros Adventure fuses real life toys with digital games and it actually works. Combine that with charming character design, great music and well implemented RPG elements and this game is a real treat for younger gamers.

Yoshi’s Wolly World is in every aspect an adorable designed platformer. Unfortunately the level design isn’t that exciting. It isn’t a new Super Mario Bros, but if you love to collect stuff and explore the stages you will find Yoshi’s Wolly World to be quite entertaining.

This is a typical on rails shooter with zombies. When you first boot up the game you're treated to a horribly disappointing first impression, but the game grows with each hour thank to weapons and level becoming a bit more interesting later on. Unfortunately the game is plagued by a healthy number of technical issues, flaws that dampen the experience severely in the long run. House of the Dead: Overkill doesn't do anything new at all, but mowing down zombies is always a hoot.

Prototype feels like the dimwitted and ugly yet oddly entertaining cousin of Infamous. Wreaking havoc with the truly massive superpowers bestowed upon the main protagonist Alex Mercer is as entertaining as it is cool. Major flaws, such as ugly design, a corny story and somewhat repetitive enemies, aren't enough to dampen the overall sense of entertainment offered in this package.

A classic game, on a new console, with new technology. The 3D-effect doesn't add much, but when games are as good as this, that doesn't really matter.

Motorstorm makes its debut on Playstation Vita and a lot has changed from the earlier console games. Instead of real vehicles you get to drive RC cars in short, fast races. Motorstorm RC fits the portable format perfectly but why is there no multiplayer?!

A rhythm game with fantastic music from the Final Fantasy games. Though some game modes are pretty pointless and it's a bit too easy for veterans.

Even though it still relies on a lot of the tried and true mechanics of the Phoenix Right-titles, Apollo Justice manages to add enough new DS-related features to keep this package feeling fresh while adding a great and engaging storyline to the mix. This is the best offering so far for newcomers, and fans of the Phoenix Wright titles are going to appreciate the improvements to the formula.

This is a title filled with repetitive moments. If plowing your field and watering your plants doesn't sound like tons of fun, this isn't a game for you. But if you like the Harvest Moon series this title does offer a whole lot of tinkering and interesting ideas. The addition of monsters on your farm, upgrading tools and weapons, interacting with other characters and exploring dungeons does expand the experience a whole lot. If you're into the whole life on a farm concept you should definitely give this one a try.

With Tales of Xillia Namco is content with slowly but safely improving the Tales series. Tales of Xillia is more polished than ever but at the same time the rest of the RPG genre has passed the Tales series. New material is scarce and the story poorly written. But the anime graphics continues to be astonishing if a bit uneven and the fighting system is arguably the best in the series.

In its finest moments Stealth Inc is one the best games in the stealth genre. Unfortunately the level design is sometimes lacking and towards the end the game it becomes more about frustration than about entertainment. With all things considered it's worth a closer look if you are connoisseur of the sneaking genre.

By now we've grown tired of handing out rock bottom grades to movie tie in games, but Toy Story 3 is luckily an exception. Aside from the drop in drop out co-op and great dialogue you'll have tons of hours of entertainment in the open playground mode Toy Box. A welcome surprise indeed.

The Wonderful 101 bursts with charm, humour and style. It is very easy to care for the characters and their universe. But frequent trouble with the controls breaks the tempo far too often. Something that also racks up the challenge unnecessarily high in an already hard game. But at the same time the battle system is a joy, if hard to master. It’s a very good game with some rough edges that feels very well needed on the Nintendo Wii U.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was released in 2004 for the Nintendo Gamecube. Although it garnered favorable reviews it sold poorly. Now, with the advent of porting Gamecube titles to the Wii with new controls under the "New Play Control" moniker, gamers everywhere once again get the opportunity to enjoy the game. Though it might be a rehash of an old title we can't hold it against such a fun and entertaining experience perfectly suited for the Wii audience.

NHL 16 might be a more complete game than NHL 15 was, but the series still lack the possibility to play good defense, and still struggles with its AI. NHL 16 is a good hockey game, but could be so much better with only a few changes.

Crash Commando offers a lean yet deep gaming experience all at once for up to twelve players online. The controls work brilliantly and the expansive arsenal of weapons is greatly suited for the experience. The different modes available in the game are great, but a few more wouldn't hurt. This is one of the absolutely best downloadable games from the Playstation Store and with some more content the grade would easily have jumped up a notch.

Killzone Mercenary is a technical masterpiece that also includes several original ideas for the series. The controls are sharp and the online component is promising. The fact that the artificial intelligence is quite bad and the campaign is rather short is easily compensated. For the foreseeable future Killzone Mercenary will constitute the absolute top of portable action games.

The latest game featuring Sonic is a mixed experience. It's the best Sonic-game since the 2D Sonic games and it's a fast, beautiful game with a lot of great levels that you can play many times over and over. But the controls can cause quite some problems and the multiplayer part isn't as good as it could have been.
