In regards to its content, The War Within is the best expansion for WoW to date. The story is fantastic, the music incredible, and on top of the group-based content fans have come to expect, from raids to battlegrounds to arena battles and mythic dungeons, the new Delves finally offer a great opportunity for smaller teams, lone wolves and casual players to make meaningful progress, get stronger, master their class and receive powerful gear. Warbands make powering up and gearing new characters easier than ever. Granted, these are all features, which other MMOs have been offering for years in some form or another, but if your heart beats for Azeroth, you may not be interested in any alternatives. Issues such as deleted guild banks and balancing problems with the crafting system, classes, hero talents and delves are a source of frustration. Still, now is a great time to go on a(nother) trip to Azeroth, even or especially when you don't have as much time to play as you did 20 years ago.- IGN Deutschland

Esoteric Ebb is a charming and clever role-playing game that combines D&D virtues with a strong focus on story and contemporary themes. Even though the graphics and fantasy setting speak a different language, it almost feels like Disco Elysium 2.- IGN Deutschland

Doom: The Dark Ages returns to the uncompromising action roots of the series without overloading it with unnecessary game systems, as was the case in its predecessor. It still feels like work at times, but the new melee combat system in particular makes up for the occasional hiccups.- IGN Deutschland

I would have liked a little more courage: Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater plays the “remake game” as safely as possible so as not to scare off old fans. However, this overlooks the fact that not everything about the original was perfect for a long time - especially from a modern perspective. But Konami's luck is that the original game was still pretty great then as it is now, and so it remains so in this version.- IGN Deutschland

Frostpunk 2 combines a city builder with complex management, politics and storytelling, giving weight to every decision. Even though we are often overwhelmed at times due to unclear communication, we want to get our end-time civilization through the winter at all costs.- IGN Deutschland

Batman: Arkham Shadow is a fully-fledged Arkham adventure through and through, and not to be missed if you have any affection for the Caped Crusader. It adds its own strengths to the famous action series and, aside from the template, is also a showcase title for virtual reality.- IGN Deutschland

In the 15 hours I spent in the world of Promise Mascot Agency, I got to know and love every corner, every shrine, and every strange, tongue-in-cheek shop in Kaso-Machi. Not everyone will enjoy scouring the entire island for trash bags, corrupt politicians' election posters, and washed-up mascots as much as I did. But if you love exploring smaller open worlds more than huge maps full of question marks, and if you're looking for a moving yakuza story about betrayal and found families, Promise Mascot Agency is the place for you. And if you appreciate the Twin Peaks-esque charm of decaying industrial towns, supernatural beings, and strange mysteries, you'll also get your money's worth here.- IGN Deutschland

Two Point remains witty, fun and true to itself: players can spend hours building the museum of their dreams. While the various themed worlds are always good for a smile, the grind game runs out of steam at the end. The way we know it, the way we love it.- IGN Deutschland

Capcom has succeeded in revitalising the tower defense genre in a surprising way thanks to the setting with Japanese mythology and lots of variety. Thanks to the many upgrades, different unit and monster types, a satisfying progression system and great boss battles, I spent many hours mesmerised by the extremely atmospheric campaign. The reward after battles is that I experience scenes of peace and harmony afterwards. In this way, the game even conveys something of the Japanese philosophy of life. And what tower defense game can you say that about?- IGN Deutschland

The cute retro look of Crow Country is deceptive: the atmosphere is dense, the plot gripping and the horror sometimes surprisingly cruel. A wolf in sheep's clothing that knows how to disturb at important moments. And how much fun this survival horror is! From now on, I will mention the game in the same breath as titles such as Tormented Souls, Alisa or Signalis, which also helped to revive a genre that was thought to be dead. Crow Country is not only a declaration of love to classic survival horror, but also a good object of study for balanced, well thought-out game design.- IGN Deutschland

I am deeply impressed by The Alters. With its clever story, emotional depth and addictive gameplay loop, the game held me firmly in its grip - until the early morning hours. The bold blend of so many genres has been pulled off with flying colours, creating a unique, unforgettable whole. The Alters is also an invitation to self-reflection. It asks the big philosophical questions about identity, destiny and the impact of technology on the human condition - exactly what outstanding science fiction should do. Despite minor technical flaws, this is a masterpiece that will resonate for a long time to come. Definitely one of the very best games of this year.- IGN Deutschland

Battlefield is back! With an exciting scenario, excellent multiplayer and an entertaining campaign, Battlefield 6 impresses across the board in our preliminary test. Minor weaknesses and shortcomings do little to detract from the overall experience. Now all that's left is for the servers to hold up and for EA/DICE to continuously maintain and balance the game with an ear to the community. Then nothing will stand in the way of an excellent multiplayer title that even Call of Duty has to fear.- IGN Deutschland

World of Goo 2 is a lot of fun - precisely because it is "easy to learn and hard to master". With every puzzle solved and every stable construction, you learn something new - and gradually develop problem-solving skills that are extremely helpful as the game progresses. Of course, every now and then you come to a bottleneck where it seems you can't go any further, but here too, persistent trial and error helps. If you get really stuck, you can skip the level in question - only the final levels of each game section have to be solved in any case. Various liquids, new types of balls and multi-stage puzzles make World of Goo 2 a must-play for puzzle fans.- IGN Deutschland

I'm not normally the type for “artsyfartsy” indie games, I mainly like fast-paced, hard action. But The Plucky Spire interested me because of its innovative game mechanics and its proximity to the classic The Legend of Zelda games. Apart from the fast-paced, hard action, this is one of my only weaknesses. And I couldn't forgive myself for not taking the plunge. Sure, the challenge is different, and you could probably play through most of the game with a blindfold on. But the overall experience is just so incredibly endearing and refreshing that I simply couldn't stop playing. The only point of criticism for me as a person without any sense of rhythm: the boss battles against the giant eagle, who throws objects that you have to catch with drumsticks as Krass, almost drove me to despair. But I'm sure it's a piece of cake for more musically gifted people.- IGN Deutschland

Epic, detailed and brutal: Space Marine 2 is a true ode to the 40k universe! But as entertaining and technically impressive as the bloody battles against endless hordes of enemies are: Titus' campaign against the Tyranids and Thousands Sons could have used a little more variety. Nevertheless: Space Marine 2 is a new must-have for every 40k fan.- IGN Deutschland

Sonic Racing Crossworlds is a game of extremes, initially causing frustration with its chaotic races, sensory overload, and often unfair item system. However, players who push through the steep learning curve will be rewarded with an uncompromisingly fast and rewarding racer that brilliantly captures the feel of classic 3D Sonic turbo stages. Despite the flawed item balancing, its fantastic track design, motivating tuning options, and the dynamic Crossworlds mechanic make it a challenging and ultimately satisfying experience for dedicated Sonic fans who value pure, unfiltered speed above all else.- IGN Deutschland

Sword of the Sea focuses entirely on exploration and flow and does it really well. If you're looking for a truly relaxing game, you won't find a better one right now. Overall, Sword of the Sea didn't move me as much as Journey did at the time: yes, there is loneliness and vastness here too, but the pilgrimage on the Hoversword just doesn't feel as destiny-fueled as that of the Journey protagonist. Nevertheless, Sword of the Sea enchants with its incredibly dense atmosphere, pointed cutscenes and wonderfully animated landscape.- IGN Deutschland

The Oblivion remaster could be so good if it didn't bring the same bugs with it as all Bethesda games. Again and again, the foundation shines through the new facade, and unfortunately, it's just as dilapidated as it was almost 20 years ago. The remaster is playable, but a little more love and especially time would have done the new edition of Oblivion good. Not to say that it would have been necessary.- IGN Deutschland
