Sleeping Dogs is – for me - one of the biggest surprises of 2012. I had absolutely no interest in this game and was expecting a mediocre GTA clone with some extra brutality on the top. After just 2 hours of playing my opinion changed dramatically. I haven't had the opportunity to experience a game with such a compelling hero for a long time. Every death of a friendly character had an impact on me. Even reading a report describing tortures and death of the protagonist's predecessor gave me chills. A standing ovation!

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a dream come true for fans of the Yakuza series. We got an excellent RPG that makes you forget about the outside world. Even if the story isn't *that* good in the beginning.

NieR: Automata is a weird RPG with outdated graphics and some repetitiveness. But it doesn't matter - Platinum games has created an excellent, fresh and crazy game. It has an original storyline with tons of brutal and moving scenes, and features a constantly shifting gameplay and wonderful soundtrack. It has all the features of a timeless classic.

Metro: Last Light isn't just another AAA shooter aimed at a typical gamer. The game's strength lies in its mature, brutal content - and I don't mean just the story (that will get its own book soon). Metro has a ton of amazing little details that make this virtual world seem very real. And what's more - the game is absolutely beautiful. Taking all this into consideration, there can be only one verdict: must buy.

Taking the game into space was a great decision. Angry Birds Space is an extremely addictive game that offers loads of homorous fun for a reasonable price.

Split Fiction is yet another triumph for Josef Fares. In the area of co-op experiences, nobody has even come close to what Hazelight proposes. No one can top this brilliant and incredibly difficult to execute gameplay formula. I can’t wait to hear the developer’s fiery speech at this year’s Game Awards, when he will undoubtedly receive another trophy.

New gameplay elements introduced in Brave New World are an example of a perfectly though-out innovation. This virtual machine works great and it's obvious, that the developers did their best. Even though there are more important rules than before, the gameplay is clear and enjoyable. This is a big achievement , considering the level of this game's complexity. Everything now works together like a big organism.

Monster Hunter: Rise is a must-buy for all fans (because it is THE best game in the franchise). And since it is very beginner-friendly, it should convince even the most inexperienced players. The series spectacularly returns to mobile consoles.

Guardians of the Galaxy vs. Avengers? The latter doesn't stand a chance. On the one hand, I should encourage you to buy GotG and send a clear message to the overlords that gamers still love single-player stories. On the other hand, I wish Eidos had spent this time making a third Deus Ex. Still, I had tons of fun with the Guardians, and I'd like to see a sequel.

I had an incredible amount of fun when playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. This game is worth being mentioned next to the biggest and best titles in the genre and is one of the best exclusive Switch games ever.

An enjoyable and very spectacular campaign that gets more intense with every mission, a decent multiplayer that should provide many hours of great fun for the lovers of fast-paced action, excellent audio and visuals - this game has everything that defines a real blockbuster.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 on the PS4 is definitely the best PES game in years, a well designed and surprising football simulation that is better in terms of AI, the feeling of the game and the technical side, than its predecessors. There are some minor flaws but they aren't as important as the fact, that Konami's new game is extremely enjoyable.

Shogun 2 is the best installment in the Total War series. Well-known patterns, due to many years of evolution and constant introduction of new elements, have reached their peak in Creative Assembly's new creation. Even though the game isn't perfect, I have to admit, I had enormous fun with it. The newest Total War's force of attraction is astounding.

Homeworld Remastered Collection is one of the best reissues ever. This package has been prepared by fans for fans. The graphics look phenomenal, the gameplay model did not age at all and the satisfaction after completing some more difficult missions is as big as it used to be 15 years ago. Gearbox simply nailed it.

Rockstar does it again. The new Max not only reminds us of his old tricks, but shows some new as well. Every minute you spend with Max Payne 3 gives you lots of fun and thanks to modes making you want to play again and a solid multiplayer the game won't become boring too soon.

NBA 2K13 shoots and stores - lots of interesting improvements in the gameplay make the new basketball from Visual Concepts into something almost perfect. New game mode and exciting multiplayer matches guarantee additional hundreds hours of gameplay and the improved physics engine works quite well. It's a pity, that there isn't much history of basketball in this game - previous installments were more generous in this area. All in all, competitors aren't needed in this genre - NBA 2K13 is a terrific game.

Resident Evil VII is an amazingly done return of the famous series. The change of perspective is like a breath of fresh air, the story is engaging and interesting, the atmosphere is superb and everything runs smoothly. The 11 hours we spend on the Baker farm prove that Capcom is in great shape. A few months ago I wouldn't have chosen RE7 as a game of the year contender, but now I'm not so sure.

Some say that Pro Evolution Soccer shouldn't be forgiven the lack of basic licenses. But in case of PES 2017 you could be tempted to forget about it because the gameplay is superb. Many different plays, competent AI, realistic movement and tons of fun after every successful action create a sense of wonder. There are some issues but overall the new PES is definitely better than the previous one.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is what that the original should have been from the start. A more polished and expanded game with an improved combat system while keeping the stunning aspects of the old NieR. If I were to rate this game only from a die-hard fan's perspective, I would give it an even higher score.

Michael Ancel and Ubisoft have created an excellent and highly addictive arcade game. Rayman makes a great first impression due to a diversified gameplay and a truly artistic visual style. It has a unique atmosphere that quickly affects the player - the feeling of being part of a crazy adventure where everything depends on us is constant.

The developers have succeeded in creating a game faithful to the tradition and at the same time a game full of new elements and mechanics, that make it feel fresh. All that, plus a great campaign and a variety of multiplayer options make Anno 2070 an excellent game and even some technical issues can't change that.

Minecraft is not a game, it's a complicated tool, a true phenomenon that sneaked into our culture and gained nothing short of a cult following. It's a creation of the decade, a game that will be remembered the same way we remember the classics that never get old. Yes, it requires a different approach -for example, when you define your next goal, but it can absorb you totally and deliver an unforgettable experience.

This is a masterpiece of gaming with atmosphere so powerful, that the player forgets to breathe and absorbs the story with all their senses, unable to divert their eyes, and oblivious to the surrounding world. Terror and awe are constant during this phenomenal, but too short adventure.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is a superb platformer with many stealth and puzzle sections. The game has some minor flaws, but all in all, LEGO LotR is the best game from the "brick" series. Excellent atmosphere, a diverse and pleasant gameplay - all that guarantees a high quality game. It's no revolution, but the developers have taken steps in the right direction that allow to think about an even brighter future for virtual LEGO bricks. And this is good news for all gamers in general.

XCOM: Enemy Within is a really good expansion for an excellent game. After a few hours of gameplay it's impossible to think that we used do play without it. And even though there's no new campaign, there's so much new stuff, that you can happily rediscover Enemy Unknown. This expansion isn't cheap, but the money definitely won't go down the drain.

Sekiro obviously piggybacks on the Souls series, but doesn't stop there. It was a risky move, but From Software proved once again that there's no match for them. The exposition of the game world and its rules are surprisingly easy, but the game quickly kicks you in the teeth with the perfect combat system. An instant classic - once again.

Assassin's Creed: Unity, despite recycling some old gameplay mechanisms, is enchanting. The player feels like being thrown into the middle of Paris in XVIII century, and after a few missions shifts into this new, more realistic, style of gameplay. Assassin's Creed is more demanding (fights are much harder), more like a real stealth game and more visually exciting than anything with the Assassin's Creed logo. Unity is the best incarnation of the series.

Resident Evil 2 is not only an entirely new game - it is also a great one. The sudden jump-scares are perhaps a bit unsophisticated, but they get the job done. Furthermore, the game offers a well-written story and over a dozen hours of pure fun, action, and puzzles. Amazing job.

Ultimately, Battlefield 6 is simply a really, really good entry in the series. Not as good as Battlefield 4 , but definitely the best in years. It already makes me want to play match after match and unlock every available weapon and attachment, and I think that feeling will only intensify as the game develops. The somewhat reduced scale and increased emphasis on infantry might seem controversial, but ultimately, it's still incredibly addictive. And who knows, maybe we'll get larger maps focused on tank battles in the future? However, such speculation aside, Battlefield 6 is already a game worth recommending upon release. No other game on the market offers this kind of experience, and here most of the gameplay elements have been meticulously crafted. All that's left is to wait for the servers to fill up with players and then get into the fight.

At the start of its early access run, Masters of Albion shows no signs of reinventing the god simulator genre – because it doesn’t even come close to that subgenre; it merely pretends id does. It’s just a run-of-the-mill game: colourful and pretty, with an exciting building system and a story you can play through. And that’s about it, because the rest is either in its infancy or simply not very interesting.
