In general Ys: The Ark of Napishtim is a competent game that isn't really flawed technologically aside from the loading issues, and is better than other US-released role players, but the game isn't exactly brimming with excitement thanks to a cliché story and ultimately repetitive hack and slash action.

As good as it gets on PSP in the strategy department, but even if it's the only game in town, it's not worth picking up unless you're desperate or willing to tolerate numerous gameplay and technological hassles along the way.

The concept of team battling is presented in a very entertaining, addictive way, and the ultimate cross between strategy, RPG, fighting...and of course racing games is enough to make someone's mind explode. But it's all ruined by unpolished, at times horrible control, nearly rendering the game unplayable in spots.

The added features flesh out things, but much of the focus was on this and not any sort of new gameplay enhancements or systems. The result is still a solid game of baseball, just a familiar one.

To say the least, the explosive environments in Black are pretty busy and are the reason why the game is worth playing.

An experiment in crafting a new style of extreme racing game that ultimately fell flat on its face.

You'll play Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll in spurts, because it's fun for a while. But the game's control problems will eventually cause the charm to wear off. And then the lid will be nailed back on the barrel and the monkeys won't come out to play again.

Sure, FNR3 has some small elements such as an abundance of advertising in the arenas and some ever-so-minor clipping issues, but it is really hard to deny the clarity and quality presented in these fights.

But returning with an action shooting game that everyone's seen before dozens of times and better too doesn't work. It hasn't worked so well before when others have done it and it certainly doesn't work now when State of Emergency 2 does a half-assed job at thinking it can be better by renovating what made the first game so special: its rioting.

There are plenty of things to do like finding recipes, item creation, or fighting in the arena. The inclusion of the second story arc lengthens the game’s life quite a bit, allowing you to put in 50+ hours.

It keeps all the technicality of the original and spices things up with it’s handful of new features. It’s great to see portable fighting titles are nearly on par with their console brethren these days. It’s only too bad that the PSP just wasn’t designed with these sorts of games in mind.

It won't blow your mind, but it has enough style and playability to make it quite fun, whether you care about the league or not, which is a far cry from "Madden" which is practically designed to run off anyone who doesn't enjoy football in some form.

As a collection of short minigames, Ape Escape Academy makes it to graduation with passing grades. However, it goes from being lame because you don’t know what to do in any of the minigames, to being fun because you’ve got the hang of them, to being lame again because the fun is lost after a couple of tries.
