With a refined gameplay that requires a more tactical approach to achieve success, fine tuning of numerous details, and deeper options for both online and offline play, FIFA 16 has proven yet again to be the quintessential title for fans of the beautiful game.- Gaming Nexus

After spending 20+ hours with this game I have no qualms calling it the best action platformer of 2004. It’s just so insanely polished, beautifully designed and amazingly addictive that it’s a wonder that it took me this long to review it.- Gaming Nexus

Swarm 2 improves almost everything from the stellar first entry, while adding a roguelike structure that makes the game that much more addictive. At this point, if you haven’t played a Swarm game, you are failing at VR. There just aren't that many games that can grant this freedom of motion without a side helping of nausea. You owe it to yourself to experience the pure joy of movement that Swarm 2 offers.- Gaming Nexus

Out of the Park ’16 proves once again why it’s the go-to series for baseball management simulators. With the new license to use real MLB players and the other additions and improvements, there’s not much you can’t do in this year’s edition. If you’re looking for a great baseball management simulator, you’ll be hard pressed to find something better.- Gaming Nexus

Not since Breath of the Wild have I enjoyed an open world game this much. With so much to see and do, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one of, it not the best, game in the Assassin's Creed franchise—and absolutely a game of the year contender.- Gaming Nexus

Ion Fury made me feel like a kid again and it's not just nostalgia that makes the game great. The is classic run and gun FPS action at it's purest and despite running on 20 year old tech, it's still a hell of a lot of fun and is one of my favorite games of 2019 so far.- Gaming Nexus

Atlus has undoubtedly created a definitive experience that takes the crown jewel JRPG of the generation. Persona 5 Royal improves on everything the vanilla version was lacking, with new content, gameplay adjustments, and quality of life improvements, whilst telling a compelling narrative with colorful characters. This PlayStation 5 native port may be off-putting to previous owners on PlayStation 4 with no upgrade paths, but the faster load times, silky smooth 60 frames per second, 4K native resolution, and all included DLC make this title a must-play for any JRPG fan.- Gaming Nexus

Sleeping Dogs provides players with an engrossing narrative set to the atmospheric and richly-detailed backdrop of Hong Kong. An extensive array of additional missions and activities ensure there are always opportunities for further adventure and action to discover while roaming the streets. Along with an impressive presentation for both the visuals and music, Sleeping Dogs is without doubt the sleeper hit of this year for open world action games.- Gaming Nexus

Easily one of the best tables that Zen has produced to date. Every aspect of this table captures the essence and spirit of Tell Tale’s adventures. This is a must buy for fans of Zen’s pinball platforms.- Gaming Nexus

Pocket Dungeon grabbed me immediately and hasn’t let go. Everything in this puzzle game works; the aesthetic, controls, modes, bosses, replayability. A puzzle game that has this level of polish will stand the test of time with the likes of Tetris.- Gaming Nexus

Resident Evil 2 is a breath of fresh (or should I say foul and dead?) air into the bloated world of open-ended gameplay mechanics that, instead of leaving the player feeling empty and exhausted for the amount of options, leave them with a constant sense of tension but knowledge and will to push on. Truly an innovation that proves its necessity.- Gaming Nexus

Forspoken is absolutely fantastic. With all the spells you can unlock, the gear you can upgrade, the fights, the bosses, and a storyline that rivals the best video game stories, this isn't a return to form for SquareEnix, it's a testament that they still got it, and will have it for a very, very long time.- Gaming Nexus

While excellent, Vampire Survivors it is still an overly simple game. This is also pretty much a straightforward port across to a new system. There is nothing unique about this version vs any previous medium the game has landed on. But it remains unpretentious and excellent fun, is dirt cheap to jump into, and lays out the roadmap to play through it while drip feeding progress adeptly. It deserves to land as close to perfect as our scoring system permits.- Gaming Nexus

Metro Redux is the perfect entry point for series newcomers as it combines two of the best shooters in recent times in a remastered collection. In addition, series fans are in for a huge treat with the remastered Metro 2033 and Last Light games for replaying their favorite moments with improved gameplay and visuals. Metro Redux is far more than a high definition update, it's a truly remastered and definite experience.- Gaming Nexus

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is an absolute pleasure and a strong continuation of Activision's commitment to remastering classic games. For those who grew up with or loved the old Spyro games, I can't imagine you won't find yourself engrossed in the collective quality of these remasters. For those new to the world of Spyro, this game is a winner even without its history. Plus, a very attainable set of achievements (or trophies) means you can earn yourself some rewards along the way.- Gaming Nexus

Halo Wars 2 is an absolute masterstroke, taking console RTS limitations and somehow not only bypassing them, but making them unmissable features. Ten years later, Twilight Princess is still a tale masterfully told and designed. The gameplay and story hold up remarkably well, and the HD visuals, updated textures, and a handful of improved mechanics make the HD version the definitive edition of the game. In a word, it is a masterpiece, then and now.- Gaming Nexus

As a solo player there were many moments where Bungie was clearly leaving my ilk behind. But on the other hand, they've finally unleashed the power fantasy and given players the tools to be the space wizard gods we've always dreamed of. The narrative the campaign delivers is a worthy and satisfying conclusion to all of those years spent loving this game. With Bungie already starting walking back some of the changes that hurt solo players the most, it's fair to say The Final Shape probably eclipses The Witch Queen as the best this game has ever been. Ten years on and we've arrived at the summit the journey deserved.- Gaming Nexus

Regardless of if you’re experiencing the story for the first time, or returning for the $10 upgrade, this is the definitive version of one of the finest video games ever made. It’s worth playing for the story alone, but the No Return mode is an intense and fun addition that might keep you around longer than you expect.- Gaming Nexus

Even better than presenting its dangers, Firewatch presents the threat of danger. This is no feel-good summer beach read; this is a brutally beautiful and fragile story of people running from their problems—and problems running away from any tidy conclusions. This is the video game equivalent of a page turner, and adventure games have rarely been in finer form.- Gaming Nexus

Ultimately, I can't call this game perfect, but I can call it compelling. I can say it is an absolute joy to play. I can say it is a natural extension of the first one which was best in class, but takes the story into an entirely new direction, taking a very different path.- Gaming Nexus

NieR Automata: Game of the YoRHa Edition was my first foray into the NieR series and I personally loved it. I know some people soured on having to basically replay the same game again just to get to the third run that opened up more of the story, but the first two routes don’t take incredibly long to play through if you don’t do any side missions. Then again doing the side missions just made the game more fun for me and I kept forgetting that I needed to finish the main story to write this review. If you’re into hack-and-slash RPGs and don’t mind having to play through the game three times to experience the full story, give this game a shot.- Gaming Nexus

Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate moves MyDearest’s living-anime games forward several steps by adding a greater degree of interactivity to the already excellent storytelling. Though the slow burn may put some players off, those with patience will find an intriguing mystery in a fabulously built sci-fi world. Well worth a look for anime fans; Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate hints at some great things to come, both from this series and this developer. [Early Access Provisional Score = 85]- Gaming Nexus

Ark of Charon presents as a visually appealing and intriguing title that unfortunately falls short in execution. Its blend of tower defense and colony simulation has potential, yet the game's finer details—such as the cumbersome controls, underdeveloped mechanics, and lack of engaging storytelling take away from the overall enjoyment. While Ark of Charon shines in its peaceful rhythm of base-building, this strength is not enough to keep me attempting to rebuild the life tree. As it stands, Ark of Charon feels like a game best suited for occasional play rather than a long-term commitment. But, it is in Early Access, so I have no problem giving this a second look down the road. [Early Access Provisional Score = 65]- Gaming Nexus

While pretty light on content, the price of this Early Access fighter is just right. With a surprising amount of depth for such a limited stable of characters, Final Fury will have you laughing and talking smack to your buddies with the best of them. The timing takes practice, and there is a learning curve to understand the characters' interactions, which makes the core gameplay of Final Fury quite solid. Additional content drops for the game will only make it better. [Early Access Provisional Score = 75]- Gaming Nexus
