It works best if you know the genre, since it's a cool piece of history and it's neat to see how they've evolved over the last few decades, but if you don't have that, Day of the Tentacle Remastered is probably going to be a little too niche for your tastes.

Battleship was one of my favorite games growing up and one I have many fond memories of, but this game doesn’t quite hit the nail on the head.

There are only so many bad guys you can explode to bright red bits before they — pardon the pun — start to bleed into each other. If that's your thing, then for sure you'll want to check this game out, but if it's not, you'll want to proceed with a bit of caution.

Out of the three Resident Evil rereleases, this is easily the best game of the three. At the same time, if you picked it up digitally on the PS3 or Xbox 360, there isn’t anything new other than being able to play on your current gen consoles.

It's clearly not for most people, whether it controls more smoothly on PS4 or not. But it's also a cut above a whole bunch of equally offensive games, and for that reason (if nothing else), it deserves its share of praise.

Omega Force has once again taken a popular license and made it fun and accessible to gamers who may not familiar with a series such as this.

Just about my only qualm with Laser Disco Defenders is that aforementioned insane level of difficulty. Normally, that might be a dealbreaker for me, but when the overall package is as enjoyable as this one is, that's a problem I have no issue overlooking.

I loved being able play the game's short missions on the go, I loved how replayable the levels were with their 3-star ratings, I loved seeing the aesthetic of the original expanded in a whole new way. In short: I loved SteamWorld Heist.

It may be nice to look it, but it's not all that fun to play.

Take a deep breath and understand that this is not some 2 hour breeze, this is a game that will take some time to complete but the payoff is completely worth it.

To be sure, I never fully understood the end goal of what I was doing in Adventures of Mana. But, for whatever reason, that didn't bother me all that much. I can't say that the game has given me any insight whatsoever into why Final Fantasy — or even the Mana franchise — has endured for so long, but I can definitely say that if I'm looking for an easy-to-pickup RPG to play on the go, this is a game that's right near the top of my list.

The King of Fighters XIV is by far the best KOF to date, and also trumps those other recent big releases by a huge margin. If you are a fighting game fan in general, you owe it to yourself to own this beauty! The game play, characters and even the story line have been ramped up to perfection. I cannot recommend this one enough. Forget the other guys, THIS is the perfect fighting game for the PS4!

This is a great party game for when you have friends over, reminiscent of Super Smash Brothers Melee and other arena type games.

What I can't overlook, however, is all the evidence that no matter how great Kerbal Space Program may be on PC, it just doesn't belong on consoles.

It provided more of what I loved from Human Revolution, and certainly scratches a stealth-action itch that few games not called Metal Gear Solid fail to provide. I love the level of freedom granted to players with this series, and Mankind Divided capitalizes on that concept constantly.

Kirby: Planet Robobot was a pleasant surprise, no doubt, but especially as someone who could generally look at a Kirby game and take it or leave it. It's one thing to please fans, but to win over indifference is kind of a big deal to me.

While it has some problems and may not be for everyone, Hello Games should be commended for pouring all their effort into such an ambitious project and launching an end product that fulfilled their vision.

I'll never totally understand why people want to play platformers wherein constant death is, well, a constant. But I can state unequivocally that if that's what you're after, Mutant Mudds: Super Challenge delivers it in spades.

It won't wow you with innovation, but it'll sate your monster-hunting urges, and it should, hopefully, get you a little psyched for the sequel, God Eater 2, coming out in North America later this summer. Don't expect too much, and you should be pleasantly surprised.

At the end of the day, the Marvel Ultimate Alliance Bundle is exactly what you would expect; the previous gen games, on the current gen systems… Nothing more and nothing less (well actually a little bit less at the moment, but Activision is owning up to fixing that).

ADR1FT is truly a great simulation experience and a frightening look at what can happen when things go wrong in space, but it could have released as a 30 minute playable VR demo and I would have thoroughly enjoyed it. As it stands now, with 5+ hours of aimlessly floating around doing the same tasks over and over, and without the VR aspect to really drive some of the visuals home it is a miss.

Basically, that closing chapter is compelling enough to raise the final evaluation of Fragments of Him a letter grade, if not two…but it's still probably not enough to make it a game worth checking out.

Spy Chameleon's gameplay seems tailor-made for the Vita. Not only are the levels short and contained enough that they translate perfectly to on-the-go gaming, the controls are as intuitive as can be, and everything just runs smoothly. On top of that, it looks fantastic.

It may try to cover it up with cute animals taken out of the original Sonic and an aesthetic that's pleasantly cute, but deep down, this is a game that wants to make you cry — and one that, more often than not, will succeed in doing that.

Batman has had many games over the years, mostly trash and a few quite memorable. Telltale Games has knocked it out of the park, and if episode one is any indication, I see a solid contender for Game of the Year right here.

Here's how blandly forgettable Last Wings is: as far as aerial combat games on the Vita go, its only real competition is Luftrausers, which has a glitch that makes completing 100% of the game impossible. It's still more fun to play Luftrausers, glitch and all, than it is to play Last Wings.
