There's also this undeniable feeling of satisfaction that overcomes you when you wade through a hail of bullets to obliterate enemies, and that in itself just might be what Metal Slug 3 is all about: providing brief flashes of old school gaming nirvana that's hard to find anywhere else nowadays.

Not for everyone, but rail buffs will absolutely love it. Where other train simulations have attempted to recreate a model railroading experience, this one is designed to give you a taste of the real thing.

Yes, I was surprised that the Xbox had this as a launch game, but after experiencing its easy controls and beautiful graphics, my opinion was changed.

Once you get over the clumsy movements, the single-direction game flow, and the annoying pixel searches, this game is a lot of fun and looks very nice... The team responsible for the graphics, both pre-rendered and real-time, deserves a pat on the back for a job well done.

Graphics don't make a game, but when they are outdated enough to cause a distraction, you know it is a time for an upgrade.

The only complaint I have is there isn’t much to set it apart from many other RPGs.

A must buy for any Star Wars fan or kart lover. For the rest of us it’s an excellent weekend rental.

Another major gripe is that there’s a lot of loading. Without a HDD, every door you walk through will require a pretty substantial loading time.

A unique little racer that packs quite a visual punch. Its game play is at once rewarding and frustrating.

The graphics are stunning and character movements, in the game and cut sequences, have a fluidity and realness that immerses you in the game action.

The greatest feature of the game is that once unlocked, you can apparently drive from one end of the first level all the way to the end of the last level, as they’re all connected portions of one large city, which the designers claim loads seamlessly.

The puzzles are generally not going to get you completely stuck and the graphics and audio do a good job of creating the appropriate environment. Bottom line is if you enjoyed Myst, you might want to give Echo Night: Beyond a shot.

I liked the game sometimes and other times I despised it. Then again, maybe that is what they were shooting for.

Plays like most typical first-person shooters with a less than interesting plot, generic characters and fair voice acting.

Yeah, the game is easy to pick up and generally fun to play, but it’s missing that special something that elevates games to greatness.

Some Rune fans might be a bit disappointed by the lack of single player modes in the expansion pack, but if you're just looking for more ways to kill your friends you won't be let down.

The reason the score isn’t higher is because in the second mission of the game I found the subject matter of race not too politically correct for the times we live in. Other than that, this game is as pretty and fun as those vivacious saloon gals that I love so much.

While Emerald is hardly a massive change to the series, it's still varied just enough to keep things interesting for any long-time players, and there's certainly no reason for new players not to start with it.

Most action/RPG enthusiasts will enjoy this title as a reminder of how much they enjoy this type of “dungeon crawl,” but will eventually shelve this title after a few hours.

It’s a fantastic title, but for a very narrow audience. It’s not a game for everyone, as both the antiquated gameplay and the high difficulty curve can be definite turn-offs.

A solid game that will appeal to those who wanted more from Jedi Outcast. It isn't going to blaze any new trails however so make sure you align your expectations before purchasing.

The gameplay is deep, fun and exciting but to fully enjoy it you’ll also have to enjoy manipulating some unintuitive and at times dense mechanics. Nippon Ichi’s writing and humor is top notch, but as with the gameplay, its wackiness might turn some people off.
