In a perverse way I learned to embrace the "unfairness" as part of the game's arcade charm, but more casual players will certainly find these balancing issues to be small slaps in the face.

It's not the most original of trivia games, but it's certainly one of the most polished ones I've encountered.

This game could sell for $35 on the 3DS and it wouldn't be out of place next to the other pieces of software available for the system.

Centipede Origins is true to the arcade classic in pretty much every way that one could want, while adding enough features to keep a new generation of gamer interested.

It's not a game I'd recommend to everyone, but Quizboard is something I could see resonating with a lot of people. It's also free to play, meaning you've no excuse to avoid giving it a chance.

If you like Rage of Bahamut but would prefer something with a kinder, gentler, perhaps more kid-friendly style (and you don't mind forking over a few bucks now and then, or lagging well behind those who do), then Monster Paradise is probably just what you're looking for.

It's actually a very fun and addictive game, so long as you don't mind not having any idea of what's going on and just throwing things until something works.

I suppose what I like most about Asphalt 7 is the fact that it doesn't go out of its way to grab your money beyond the 0.99 cent pricetag.

It's a must-download for anyone who enjoys games that require fast reflexes and quick thinking, or just wants to have a blast while making sure humanity sticks around for a while.

A pretty repetitive game, and you get tired of flinging and smiting before very long. Don't be surprised if you return, though. Velocirapture isn't a very diverse distraction, but it still works well for bite-sized play sessions.

All in all, is Fish Heroes bad? No, it's just not really as astounding as it could have been. If you're in the market for another way to wreck structures and take revenge with an unlikely team of flying animals, it's certainly packed with enough charm and content to be worth your while. It's just a shame that it isn't nearly as strong as the past titles it emulates.

The Act strives to do a great thing by bringing new ideas and new blood to the full motion video/quick time event genre, but the execution is lacking. React Entertainment shouldn't give up, though. Far from it. Some tweaks might help make The Act more satisfying to play, and we look forward to seeing how the studio will bring games and animation together in the future.

I don't think there's anything in Soccer Superstars 2012 that will make a non-fan into a true believer, but as full-featured soccer sims you can carry in your pocket go, this is a really good one. Footie fans should definitely give it a kick, not a pass.

Song Pop is the perfect game for the music obsessed, but not to the point where it alienates those who don't fit that bill.

Crashing aside I did enjoy my time with Zombie Quest overall. My biggest takeaway though is that it's sort of a one and done type of app. Good for a few minutes of fun, but won't last on my home screen very long. Just no compelling reason to go back once you've played and gotten your fill.

It has that subtly addictive quality that the company does so well, and it's likely to have many people who never play slots games downloading it soon just to check it out.

Anyone who likes arcade shooters should pick this game up. If you like a challenge, doubly so. My biggest qualm with the game is that, because the control surface is also the screen, I sometimes couldn't see the action because my own thumbs got in the way.

Duel of Fate isan essential download if you're looking for an introduction to battle cards or if you'd like a more streamlined version of battle cards you already love. And at the low price of free, there's really no reason not to start downloading it right now.

Nimblebit has once again dropped you in the middle of a universe that feels like it was built just for you, and filled it with a deeper, more compelling mission. If you love strategizing, organizing, building something, and watching it grow, you'll love this game. Oh, and fun. If you love fun.

For a first effort, Suspect in Sight shows a lot of promise. It successfully puts to use every feature that an iOS gaming enthusiast would want from a title while delivering a unique game. The stylistic theme that is carried throughout the game is spot on, and it makes the experience pretty immersive. That said, the game tries to coast a little on that uniqueness and doesn't put a ton of time into varying the gameplay.

At the current price of free, you've little reason to let Probe the Humans go unplayed. Unless, of course, you or someone you know has been abducted by aliens in the past. If that's the case, this entire review has been in bad taste, and I owe you an apology.

As it stands it's a one-trick pony, and just doesn't entertain. Maybe some more time in development instead of rushing to piggyback onto the Euro tournament would've been a better choice.

Mall Stars doesn't grant you a remarkably original gameplay experience. It's safe, and more than anything: it's easy to pick up and play, the graphics are colorful, and the big-headed character designs don't stray too far from the social/mobile gaming standard. That said, Mall Stars is pretty difficult to stop playing, even if you've spent a considerable chunk of your life as a retail slave. That's saying something.

While I've definitely seen worse, Big Hollow Princess is still a pretty good example of a corporate cash-in. It's current place near the top of the App Store charts nearly justifies their practice, too: people will buy anything as long as it has the Adventure Time name on it.

Mad Acorn might have a generic soundtrack and strange mechanics, but it serves as a fantastic example of a budget rhythm-based game that captures a few elements from the all-time greats.

So like any good dystopian fiction, the game ends up packed with allegory, mirroring its main protagonist. Like Robo, No Red T-Shirts feels like a would-be wonder, caught in an explosion and left instead with haywire circuitry. A very hard lesson about the risks of greed and technology.

The classic "60 stages, more stages coming soon, three stars per level based on performace" physics puzzler app is definitely growing stale, but that doesn't keep Expand it's unique mechanics from being fun. To its favor, my largest issue is simply that the game is surprisingly short: just like the rainbow-hungry dinosaurs, I just wanted a little more.

It will get frustrating at times -- particularly in some of the larger levels -- but all in all it's an enjoyable take on the slingshot (or catapult, in this case) mechanic.

A cheap thrill. It takes away control from the player with automatic shooting and running, but it does so to good effect. When the screen fills with bullets, bad guys, buzzsaws and crumbling platforms, your adrenaline will begin to flow. But when you die -- which you will, a lot -- you won't become frustrated.
