Deer Hunter 2016 isn’t a bad game, and its chief flaw is largely a product of the environment (no pun intended): animals are kind of dumb, and when you’re equipped with guns that can easily puncture through their skins, getting a one-shot-kill is understandably easy. But when levels play out in the exact same manner, and I’m required to play them multiple times, the problem shifts from animals being too easy to kill to the game doing a poor job handling variety.

PixWing has no in-app purchases, so it’s a nice change to receive compensation for simply flying well. There’s an added incentive for buying new birds: They come in a wide variety of cool designs. Who doesn’t want to be friends with a wolf in a bomber jacket that flies a biplane?

Once you’ve built up a super team and seen all of the amusing animations over and over, will Boom Boom Football still offer enough to hold your interest? That’s a question that can only be answered in the long term, but there’s no doubt that it’s a refreshing change from the norm.

If you’re a Star Wars fan who’s looking to pass some time before the release of The Force Awakens, you could do far worse.

Ultimately, Puzzle Craft 2 is everything a sequel should be: it’s bigger, grander, and more engaging than its already-fantastic predecessor.

Ultimately, Nibblers isn’t an amazing advancement in match-3 game experiences. But it doesn’t need to be. It’s a solid contribution to the category with fresh visuals, a great soundtrack, and familiar mechanics.

Simply put, Dungeon Boss is an excellent game that is certainly worth your time and money, even if free-to-play RPGs have typically turned you away.

Worms 4 may irritate series purists, and it may intimidate newcomers a touch (its in-game tutorial and guide can use some work). Its server problems are disappointing, too. But if you approach it with an open mind, and if Team 17 applies a bit of polish, you may find this take-out version of Worms to your liking.

Unkilled is a nice looking zombie shooter with a solid control scheme that is held back by stale monetization methods.

Dungeon Legends is an epic free-to-play dungeon crawler and while it straps players in as a single character, it gives you a fun enough time doing so that the game’s few hiccups are easily overlooked.

I enjoyed my time with Bullet Boy and I really found nothing to dislike about the game. The game isn’t offering up much variety in terms of mechanics though, so if you think you’ll be bored of shooting a child from numerous cannon barrels, then you won’t get much mileage out of Bullet Boy.

So am I just supposed to laugh when I spend ten minutes flopping a piece of bread around a house, only to lose when the bread wildly flops to the floor and goes bad? I’ve laughed at goats rocketing through the air, and comedic surgeries gone wrong …but go throw a piece of bread on the floor. Did you laugh? Probably not.

Opening up new highways beyond the initial country road is admittedly expensive (though you can grab them through an in-app purchase), but honestly, careening down the free highway provided should keep you engaged for hours anyway.

Raider Rush may look like a simple platformer, but thanks to few control mechanics, the experience is constantly challenging without being impossibly hard. When you fail in Raider Rush, it feels like it’s your own fault and not the game’s.

Fans of Nintendo’s series will definitely get a kick out of moving around eerie floating Pokémon heads, though the monetization schemes undeniably coat the experience with a thin layer of “ick.”

The Deer God is an interesting game that’s packaged as a pretty platformer, but underneath all of that is a wonky experience that’s hard to recommend.

Rebuild 3 has been our go-to game since we got our hands on it, and with its amount of depth, details, and difficulty levels, will continue to be until the real zombie apocalypse hits. And probably after.

Whispering Willows isn’t a perfect adventure game, but neither is it a waste of time.

I love a challenging game, but Calvino Noir is simply too difficult to keep my interests for long. Calvino Noir demands 100% concentration, and if the gameplay experience was 100% consistent, it might warrant it.

I suppose that’s the hallmark of a real solitaire game: despite its digital debut, Sage Solitaire has the potential to grow well beyond the borders of a touch screen.

Ski Safari 2 is a great game to pick up for your mobile device. It’s fun, has lots to accomplish and unlock, it’s bright and silly — it’s basically everything you love about traditional mobile gaming distilled into a single title.

Overall, while The Walking Dead: Road to Survival is centered on the usual mode of delivery for mobile strategy games, the campaign gave me an engaging enough story and the combat was rewarding enough to where I feel comfortable saying that Road to Survival is a strong step in the right direction for the genre.

If you detest clicker games, Clicker Heroes won’t turn you into a compulsive clicker. If you’re fond of clickers (however guiltily), or if you remember throwing away hours of your life on the web-based version of the game, your restless finger will thank you for your download.

It might be pretty, and it might be free, but if you’re on a lower-end device your time will be much better spent with the Breakneck’s inspiration rather than Breakneck.

If you’re a fiend for the movie universe’s greatest marshmallow-murderers, taking Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter for a spin isn’t the worst idea — as long as you’re OK with grinding and wait periods. If you’re just looking for a good match-three game, don’t bother calling this one.

I’m fond of being able to spend time with this game again, but it’s not going to replace my memories of playing the original, even as they grow hazier with the passage of time.

I’m not 100 percent certain this will win over people who don’t find the overarching GO concept worthwhile, but if anything, the execution here is even more impressive than it was the first time out.

Overall though, for a free game, Happy Wheels is worth checking out, even just for the free laughs your initial playthrough will give you.
