Everything from the plot to the in-game models to the user interface is uncomplicated and utilitarian. The developers seem to have focused on creating an immersive Antarctic setting that feels brutal and imposing, and to that respect, they succeeded.

Even with a few minor missteps Renowned Explorers: More to Explore improves on an already spectacular game. By itself Renowned Explorers had few weak points mainly with its eventual, repetition of content. In More to Explore this is fixed while adding the campfire, which provides even more wacky adventures and events for the already charismatic characters to go through.

That said, Anode‘s incredibly low price alone makes this a recommended purchase for all Xbox One owners. When you also add in the crisp visuals and variety of great game modes it’s enough to raise it above many similar efforts out there.

If you prefer more laid-back puzzle games, maybe still give Kelvin a chance but bring a friend. Two heads are better than one after all and you definitely won’t regret it.

Does Back From Hell “redeem” the initial disappointing release? In my eyes, absolutely. Like a medieval sinner turned to a life of holy demon-slaying knighthood, it claws its way back into the light over a pile of steaming gore-matted corpses. And if that’s not metal, I don’t know what is.

If you missed out on the game’s original release or the Vita version, New Little King’s Story, the PC version is the perfect opportunity to catch up on this too often overlooked little gem.

Considering all that it has to offer, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force is probably the best JRPG currently available on the PS4 (although stiff competition is incoming)

It may not constantly beckon you back, but when you do dive in you’ll realise it is one of the better dungeon crawlers out right now. It’s bursting at the seems with love for this genre, and some of that might just rub off on you after a while.

If you’re willing to invest the time in three lengthy visual novels, finish these two off early, so you can enjoy what is touted as a great third entry (which I’m excited to see) released later this year.

Lovely Planet Arcade is a twitch shooter that will kick your butt, pat your wounds, and give you butterfly kisses that turn into literal butterflies.

While you probably won’t play it on your own for very long due to the lack of matchmaking and career mode challenges, Obliteracers makes for a fairly entertaining experience when played in local multiplayer.

Those who put in the time will be rewarded with deeply strategic gameplay, beautiful environments and a surprisingly insightful story.

Offering no single-player or online options, team ok’s love letter to the 90s yearns for the day when couch co-op reigned supreme.

If you liked Space Invaders but find it to be a bit too “retro”, then Hyperspace Invaders II could well be the perfect game for your pixel-destroying frenzy.

It’s easy to say that Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 1 – Realm of Shadows is one of Telltale’s best first episodes yet.

Similar to a good RPG, any time spent with Riptide GP: Renegade is not wasted, even in defeat.

It is a shame that every level is so well done and all required so much work, in terms of visual and audio presentation, that it means there are so few levels overall.

The trouble with Hyper Light Drifter is that it’s frequently just too obscure and too difficult to truly enjoy.

The best word I can use is probably ‘clunky’, but putting it rather bluntly, Dungeon Punks controls as well as a dead horse.

If you’re a more casual RPG player, there are likely enough issues to be prohibitive. Altogether, though, if Krai Mira looks like something you would enjoy, there’s a good chance that you will. It’s no masterwork, but Krai Mira has a solid foundation, and with continued support and updates, has promise. In its current state, however, its experience still feels unfinished.

The graphics, music and story of the game are part of what really makes Zombie Night Terror a puzzle game that sticks out to me.

Within half a dozen hours, party members move from distant strangers to lifelong companions. These shifts feel completely unnatural and alienate the player from forming emotional connections.

I did enjoy my first hour or so with Raining Blobs but after that it became obvious that there really wasn’t anything that kept me wanting to come back for more.

It’s a simple game in its approach: its mechanics are not over-wrought or complicated, but it’s top quality fun. Headlander is of the few games in recent memories to garner a true belly laugh.

Austin Wintory’s masterful and emotive score is ultimately the perfect accompaniment… the soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful from start to finish.

For all the eye-rolling curses, however, when a stage comes together with just the right amount of clever construction and fair fights, one can see the promise inside Wind-up Knight 2.

Overcooked has so much to offer for someone who loves playing games with their friends but, for those of you lone wolves, single player is a little bit of a drag.

Like with so many Nintendo platformers, the controls and physics are so rock solid that the mere acts of running and jumping making playing a pleasure.
