That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime - ISEKAI Chronicles is likely to be enjoyed by fans of the franchise, but it won't wow them. It's a basic action RPG with fun 2D hack-and-slash sections that quickly become repetitive, and basic village building elements that feel underdeveloped.

The Crimson Diamond is a must buy for would-be detectives and adventurers alike. Its rich, thrilling tale had us hooked from beginning to slightly-embarrassing end. And once we’ve binged every episode of Columbo, you can bet we’ll be back for more.

So far, Black Myth: Wukong is a game that I'm really wanting to like, but sometimes it feels like it's fighting against me. I'm loving its visuals, which make exploring each environment feel somewhat magical, and I'm mostly enjoying its combat until I come up against an enemy or situation that feels somewhat unfair. Elsewhere there are other issues. And so, while I'm keen to continue playing and see the Destined One's journey to an end, I'm prepared for bumps in the road along the way. [Review in Progress]

Phantom Spark is a time trial racing game that will push players to their limit, challenging them to return to events time and time again in order to master them and place high on the global leaderboards. While it doesn't have a massive amount of content, it will keep some players entertained for hours on end.

Creative and beautifully designed, admiring the environments of House of Golf 2 is almost as much fun as playing golf itself. This is a game built with fun in mind and, particularly when you're playing with friends, you're going to have an absolute ball.

Dustborn is a real treat for narrative adventure fans. The script is the star here, with the game’s characters being wonderfully written and brought to life via solid voice acting. And by the time you’re done with this adventure you’ll have experienced a wide range of emotions what with its often comical conversations and unexpected twists and turns.

From one of the best hidden object series out there, Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is yet another wonderful collection of whimsical locations, each brimming with personality (and, of course, objects to be found). It's perhaps more of an extension of its predecessor than something completely new, but it's a very welcome addition to the series regardless.

Bleak Faith: Forsaken invites players to a world where sci-fi meets fantasy, and while it's not the best soulslike available, its mix of rewarding exploration and solid combat makes it well worth checking out.

Some may revel in the challenge provided by Volgarr the Viking II, but most will probably find it simply unfair at times. Repetition is also a problem when the game's stages are so large. Still, it looks rather nice, and at least Undead mode allows players to brute force their way through, albeit with repercussions.

Cat Quest 3's selling point is also one of its biggest detractors, depending how you feel about the series: it's simply more of the same. It looks fantastic, and exploring its cutesy world is a joy, but the addition of sailing a ship isn't enough to make this stand out from its predecessors.

Horror fans are likely to appreciate the brilliant premise of The Mortuary Assistant, and will enjoy the fact it's genuinely creepy and unpredictable. Preparing bodies is surprisingly engaging, and there are multiple endings to discover which will keep players returning for more, but unfortunately the PS5 version is very rough around the edges.

A genuinely pleasant surprise, Creatures of Ava is an excellent adventure game for those who want something a little less demanding and stressful than the mainstream. Gathering the titular creatures is an enjoyable experience, but so is exploring this beautiful world and engaging with its mysterious and quirky denizens. Excellently written and gorgeously animated, there's a great deal to love here.

Cygni: All Guns Blazing is the best-looking shoot 'em up out there, and along with its epic soundtrack, it's a treat for the eyes and ears. But a number of issues, such as its stages being too long and the screen often being simply too busy, mean that it doesn't fulfil its potential.

Thank Goodness You're Here! is a game that's quintessentially British, inviting players to explore a Northern English town and rub shoulders with its bizarre locals. It's weird, it's clever, and it's utterly surreal at times, but it's always entertaining. It's just a shame that your visit is over so soon, but there's perhaps reason to return to it a time or two. In any case, it's an absolute delight while it lasts.

ExoCross is a solid off-road arcade racer, with impressive visuals and brilliant physics. But while it has a decent number of single-player modes to jump into, its online options are disappointing, and there's a general lack of content overall.

Filled with engaging puzzles and a story that's both compelling and deeply emotional, there's a lot to love about Thalassa: Edge of the Abyss. Some of its mechanics are a little clunky, and there's the odd technical issue, but they're worth overlooking for the mystery that awaits under the waves.

Roguelike fans who love fast-paced first-person shooter action are in for a treat with Deadlink. Its combat encounters take heavy inspiration from DOOM Eternal, and with four combat shells to choose from, along with a wide range of upgrades to acquire, there's plenty of variety to be found from one run to the next. A new time trial mode complete with global leaderboards adds even more fun into the mix.

Metroidvania fans will find lots to like when it comes to Frontier Hunter: Erza's Wheel of Fortune. Being able to instantly switch between three characters, each with their own weapons, is a blast, and crafting and customising your gear with the cores of enemies is rewarding. The only thing that really lets it down is the fact that it's rather rough around the edges.

Inspired by classic horror movies, Lakeview Cabin Collection offers up multiple episodes, each with their own characters, locations and challenges to overcome. The problem is that it's obscure to a fault, but with many fun interactions to discover along the way, some will find it entertaining.

With a beautiful world to explore, an interesting narrative and a rewarding sense of player agency, we really could have loved The Last Alchemist. But convoluted systems, tedious controls and the lack of controller support sadly make it rather cumbersome to play, sucking out much of the enjoyment to be had.

It's been a long time coming to PS5, but Monster Train has been worth the wait. This roguelike card battler is sure to win over fans of the likes of Slay the Spire, but with its own unique twists on the formula, it feels unlike any other game in the genre. Suffice to say, this is one we're going to be coming back to, time and time again.

Earth Defense Force 6 feels more like Earth Defense 5.5, what with it being so similar to its predecessor. There are some welcome tweaks to various features, however, and along with some new enemies and more missions than ever, it makes for the best entry in the series yet. We just hope the inevitable Earth Defense Force 7 is a bit more adventurous.

Beautiful and cleverly designed, Été is a game all about painting: literally paint the world around you, and create works of art for the people you meet. It's held back a little by a few technical niggles, but it's impossible to let them get in the way of how utterly joyful this game is to play.

Those with the patience to traipse back and forth and push themselves through the more frustrating sections of Conscript may well end up having a rewarding experience with it on the whole. It’s certainly got some good ideas, and is altogether rather unique. For many though, these issues are likely to prove to be too much of an obstacle; it’s never good when making headway in a game feels like a chore, after all.

Mixing puzzles, photography and a touching narrative, there's a lot to love about The Star Named EOS. Its beautiful art style shines over its 3-4 hour running time, and while the ending perhaps isn't as strong as the game's first half, we still wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to any puzzle fan.

Impeccably presented, The Operator leaves you feeling like a real government agent, solving real crimes and becoming embroiled in a real conspiracy. It's not the longest experience, but we were thoroughly engrossed in every minute of it; our only real complaint is that we were left wanting more.

Whether you're a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or simply enjoy roguelikes, there's a lot to love about Splintered Fate. Aside from being well presented, its core gameplay is ever-so moreish thanks to a wide variety of upgrades being available. And thanks to local and online co-op options, you don't have to play alone.

If you like being guided from one objective to the next while playing a game, Magical Delicacy is not for you. But if figuring things out for yourself, exploring a wonderfully designed pixelated world and cooking up some unique delicacies in the kitchen all sound good to you, there's so much to love here. It's a unique blend of crafting and metroidvania, and it works incredibly well.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique game that brilliantly blends together action and strategy, resulting in a game that makes you think and keeps you on your toes. Add in sublime enemy design and a wonderful soundtrack, and you have a game that rubs shoulders with the best of 2024 so far.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sweep the Board! is a colourful and unpredictable digital board game that fans of the franchise will no doubt enjoy. Its minigames vary in quality, however, and the CPU getting involved when there are less than four human players can be a pain.

SCHiM looks absolutely fantastic, and its idea is innovative: you're a shadow who has become untethered from its human. But the goal of reuniting the pair is unfortunately more frustrating than it should be: while there are some enjoyable elements here, ultimately we were relieved when it was over.

Suitable for fans of Super Monkey Ball and those new to the series, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble offers more of the same ball-rolling action but with a new spin dash mechanic. In any case, while its multiplayer offerings aren't the best, the Adventure mode here is better than ever, offering a wealth of excellently designed stages to play through and master.

Anger Foot is essentially Hotline Miami played from a first-person perspective, with your foot being your most valuable asset. As fun as kicking things with a variety of effects is, however, the action gets repetitive pretty fast, the difficulty feels unfair at times, and the soundtrack may drive you up the wall.

Spin Rhythm XD is one of the most enjoyable music rhythm games we've played in a long while, being easy to pick up but having a lot of depth as you ramp up the difficulty. It's the control system that impresses us the most, though, making you feel like a DJ. It's just a shame that unless you love EDM, its track list has nothing for you.

It's the green brother's time to shine in Luigi's Mansion 2 HD - and shine he does. This whimsical ghost-hunting adventure is a great deal of fun, and it looks better than ever thanks to this remaster. Even though taking ghosts down can sometimes be a pain, it's a small price to pay for the joy of exploring the game's wonderfully-designed environments.

Gigantosaurus: Dino Sports is one of the best games for kids out there, with a solid collection of multiplayer-focused events that are easy to pick up and fun to play. Add in some entertaining single-player challenges and jigsaw puzzles to complete, and it's hard to be disappointed with what's on offer.

Impeccably weaving Lovecraftian horror with real human emotion, Still Wakes the Deep is a fantastic, tense tale that we're not going to forget in a hurry. It's just the right amount of horrifying in all the right places, brought to life with characters who feel as believable as people you'd meet on the street. Only a few technical issues bring it down a little, but they're not enough to truly sully the experience.

Willy's Wonderland - The Game is a strange film tie-in, turning what is essentially an entertaining action-horror into a 2.5D side-scrolling beat 'em up. The trouble is, it's criminally dull and a chore to play, so you really shouldn't pick it up despite its bargain price.

The Monster Hunter Stories Collection bundles up two great JRPGs that offer a new way to enter the world of Monster Hunter, now finally playable on PlayStation consoles. Both have thrilling combat systems, and will have you avidly seeking out new monsters to add to your collection. With Monster Hunter Stories 2 not only looking better but also being more fleshed out gameplay-wise and having additional features such as multiplayer, however, some players might just want to pick that up instead.

A game for fans of Unpacking and Gone Home, Simpler Times is a short but sweet narrative experience that tells the story of a young girl through items in her bedroom. We'd have liked more, but for the two hours it lasted, it kept us hooked thanks to intriguing puzzles and a great (if sparse) narrative.

An action RPG with survival and base building elements, you get out of V Rising what you put into it. This is a deep and engrossing experience in which you get to develop your very own vampire lord, even going so far as to designing and building their castle. Only fiddly controls let it down a little on PS5.

Autopsy Simulator is a realistic exploration of the work of a pathologist, with horror elements thrown in. But, as gorgeously gruesome as its graphics are, it's seriously held back by the amount of hand-holding, robbing you of any real decision-making.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door looks great on Switch, making it exciting to move from one location to the next, each interesting in its own way. Its writing is brilliant, too, with some genuinely funny jokes that will have you grinning as you play. It's just a shame that its turn-based combat gets old quite fast, and is devoid of challenge.

Stylish and captivating, The Land Beneath Us is yet another success that should be celebrated in the roguelike genre. This turn-based dungeon crawler has some great ideas, and its sharp, focused gameplay is hard to put down.

Taking place after the events of Ion Fury: Aftershock, Phantom Fury finds Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison fighting for mankind in this enjoyable first-person shooter combined with a road adventure. It's just a shame that Shelly isn't as spunky as we remember her to be, and the pacing can be all over the place at times.

Casting players as Sushi-bot, your goal in Rolling Hills: Make Sushi Make Friends is to run the best sushi restaurant you possibly can. This is a thoroughly cosy and relaxing sim where stresses are kept to a minimum — and while it may be simple, we've enjoyed every moment we've spent with it.

A 2D firefighting game, Nuclear Blaze will draw you in with its mysterious premise and then keep you hooked with its engaging puzzle-platforming gameplay. Thanks to its dedicated kids mode, it's suitable for all ages, too.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a strange choice for an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, but it works. It's fun playing as either a human or a Klown here, with just enough twists on the tried-and-tested formula to keep matches unpredictable and interesting. There's still a little work to be done when it comes to balancing, however.

An English Haunting is an engaging and chilling point-and-click adventure that doesn't fling scare after scare at you, making its actual frights all the more effective. You may stumble on a puzzle or two, but frustration rarely kicks in.

With a fantastical story that will quickly draw you in and plenty of detective work to be done, Echoes is an excellent visual novel that we struggled to put down. Its gorgeous art style, that changes as the story progresses, is simply the icing on the cake.

Bigger and better than its predecessor in every single way, Horizon Chase 2 is a must-have for arcade racing game fans. Its sensational sense of speed and new weather effects in particular make it stand out from the crowd, and its multiplayer features are as welcome as ever.

EA Sports F1 24 is undoubtedly the most authentic representation of the sport yet, with stunning visuals and responsive handling. You can play as Icons for the first time in career mode, too. But versus last year's release, the improvements are slight, meaning some might want to sit this one out.

Set in a a thoroughly unique dystopian world, 1000xRESIST is a gripping sci-fi adventure exploring weighty themes, ensuring you're thoroughly invested in your fate and that of your flawed world.

Imagine Link to the Past without the combat and threat: that's sort-of what Pine Hearts feels like. There's a lot to like about this cosy adventure set in a colourful world, but a few issues hold it back from being quite as good as it could have been.

Inspired by horror classics such as Silent Hill 2 and Eternal Darkness, The Glass Staircase is Puppet Combo's most ambitious release yet. This surreal and atmospheric experience will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entirety of its brief playing time, though checkpointing and aiming issues may frustrate a little.

A 3D platformer with an exhilarating techno soundtrack and stunning graffiti-inspired visuals, RKGK will win you over with its fluid movement and challenging gameplay. It's destined to be one of 2024's hidden gems.

This duck-flavoured detective mystery may be short, but it's a great deal of fun. Wonderfully animated and excellently written, figuring out the case of Duck Detective: The Secret Salami might only take a couple of hours, but it's a jolly good way to spend an evening.

Brought to life with gorgeous hand-drawn art, Paper Trail is beautiful to look at. Its puzzles, centring around folding and unfolding paper, are an acquired taste, however, and can quickly grow tiresome. As well-designed and clever as they are, we'd wager some players will struggle to digest more than a couple of levels at a time.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 improves on its predecessor in numerous ways, making it a must-play for fans of dark, cinematic adventure games. Visually it's unparalleled, offering photo-realistic characters and environments, and its audio design is spectacular, too. It's just a shame that its combat gets repetitive all too quickly – but in the grand scheme of things, it's a small price to pay.

Clearly inspired by Theme Hospital and Two Point Hospital, Galacticare takes humorous hospital management into deep space. Building the perfect hospital and helping patients from a range of species is every bit as enjoyable as its inspirations, and with high production values, there's a lot to like. Some of its humour might not quite land, but we think if you're a Theme Hospital fan, Galacticare is a no-brainer.

Fun, colourful and surprisingly well-presented, there's a lot to like about My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery. Not focusing on the task at hand can be a little frustrating, but when horsing around is so enjoyable, it's hard to be too incensed.

Perplexing and often pretentious, yet compelling and wonderfully accomplished, it's safe to say you won't have played anything quite like Lorelei and the Laser Eyes before. Filled with puzzles and mystery at every turn, once you step foot inside the intriguing Hotel Letztes Jahr, you won't be able to pull yourself way.

Men of War II takes a little work to get to grips with, and we're not fond of the always-online requirement. But this WWII RTS's realism, depth and freedom to explore your own strategies still make it a winner.

Inviting you to be the star of a vintage anime, Mullet Mad Jack is a fast-paced first-person shooter with roguelike elements that's basic at its core but still manages to be captivating — partly because of its impeccable presentation, and partly because it's simply so much fun to play.

This isn't the best twist on Pac-Man — that accolade goes to the excellent Pac-Man 256. But injecting Battle Royale DNA into the Pac-Man formula works well enough, and although it's rather thin on content, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs provides enough entertainment to keep you coming back, particularly considering its budget price.

Inspired by classic survival horror games of the '90s, Crow Country's puzzle-laden gameplay is enjoyable on the whole. It's not scary in the slightest, though, and its combat is a bit of a let-down. While fans of the genre might want to check it out, then, it's unlikely to be remembered as a classic itself.

Sclash is a simple fighting game featuring samurai that can beat their opponents with just one hit. Battles are tense and exciting as a result, but disappointing single-player options and a lack of overall depth let it down somewhat.

A massive improvement over its predecessor, The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication is an absolute treat for horror fans, combining tense exploration, enjoyable puzzles, and some effective scares.

I can’t say that the odd bug has really spoiled my time with Little Kitty, Big City though. Once I started playing, I couldn’t pull myself away. This teeny cat may be the most adorable protagonist of recent years, and engaging in feline shenanigans is every bit as joyful as you’d hope it would be. I’d gladly take more of this: a bigger sequel set in an all-new city please, Double Dagger Studio.

Heading Out doesn't fulfil its true potential. But while its story isn't as gripping as it should be, and its driving mechanics aren't anything special, together, along with an eye-catching black and white comic book visual style, they make for an enjoyable time on the whole.

Harold Halibut stands out for its painstakingly gorgeous stop-motion animation, but as a game it falls short of the mark. If you’re looking for a charming story with plenty of heart, Harold’s shortcomings are absolutely worth pushing through. But those looking for something more engaging would be better to look elsewhere.

Part management sim, part roguelike, Undead Inc. has a few rough edges but it's still a treat for wannabe Umbrella Corp CEOs. Just remember to leave your ethics at the door.

Indika is one of the most surreal games we've ever played. And while it's short, it's easy for us to recommended thanks to its dark and unpredictable story and thoughtful, engaging puzzles.

A Survivors-like with a twist, Swarm Grinder is the type of game that'll have you coming back again and again. With meaningful upgrades and plenty of reason to keep playing, it's an excellent example of the genre — with a few unique twists thrown in too.

If you’re a tennis fan, this is currently the best tennis game available — no doubts about it. At least on console, anyhow. No other tennis game plays as good as TopSpin 2K25, which somewhat makes up for its downfalls. We can only hope that 2K improves this title post-launch, speeding up career progress, making it easier to play against friends online and making MyCareer accessible even when the servers are down. And when the inevitable sequel arrives, we’ll accept a visual boost and some other upgrades, too.

We really wanted to like Tell Me Your Story. It looks lovely, and we love its concept. We’re always keen to get our hands on more cosy games, and those with puzzles are even more welcome. But this one unfortunately misses the mark. More thought needed to go into its puzzle design for them to be an enjoyable, and not frustrating, experience.

Whether you find liminal spaces strangely appealing or unsettlingly eerie, we recommend you give Pools a try. We certainly haven’t played anything quite like it before. It may not be an action-packed experience with complex mechanics – hell, some might not even consider it a game at all – but it’s utterly compelling from beginning to end.

Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets isn’t a game for everyone, then. Thanks to its unpolished nature and how easy death can come, some will bail on it on the early hours. For horror fans with patience and persistence, however, their time will ultimately be rewarded. Its voice acting is bad, its combat is dire, and its story is neither here nor there, but there’s a certain undeniable charm that makes Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets worth it in the end.

Tents and Trees doesn’t reinvent the wheel: I’ve played the same types of puzzles before under a different guise, in puzzle books and on mobile apps (The ‘Charge Up’ puzzles in Puzzle Page, if you’re interested). But none of them have been as elegant and beautifully presented — and downright plentiful — as Tents and Trees. This is the type of thing I can see myself diving into night after night, as a way to unwind (and challenge my brain) before bed. And if you’re a puzzle fan too — particularly of Picross and its ilk — I’m rather certain you’ll love this.

There's a lot to like about Another Crab's Treasure. Its underwater setting and cutesy premise makes this a unique Soulslike, and its accessibility options means this is one of only a few games in the genre that can truly be played by all. But there are bugs and issues galore, stopping this crustacean's adventure from being quite as enjoyable as it should be.

More than just a Soulslike with a protagonist to serve as eye-candy, Stellar Blade has far surpassed our expectations, offering varied gameplay, outstanding visuals, a sublime soundtrack and an engaging story. It's a must-play for action game fans.

Inspired by Turtles in Time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants certainly plays like a blast from the past. After Shredder's Revenge, you'll likely find its gameplay too basic, however, and it fails to impress in other ways, too.

Despite these issues, it’s hard not to be won over by Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes on the whole, especially if you’re a Suikoden fan. While its story might not have much emotional impact, it’s still pretty engaging. And many will love the fact that this does genuinely feel like a JRPG from the golden age of the genre. It’s not quite the Suikoden successor we were hoping for, but it’s still a worthy game in its own right.

Ultimately, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is a delight from beginning to end, with only the odd frustration along the way. Add in an absolutely sublime soundtrack by Nainita Desai and strong voice acting throughout, and you have a Metroidvania with a unique flavour that absolutely deserves to be played. It’s safe to say that whatever Abubakar Salim does next with Surgent Studios, we’re here for it. Whether it’s another emotional tale from Kenzera or something entirely different, we look forward to welcoming it with open arms.

Is Lunar Axe going to set your world on fire? Absolutely not. This is a budget point and click adventure game, but it’s well worth the asking price. And for fans of the genre, it scratches the puzzle itch more than adequately.

Ultimately, Planet of Lana deserves a spot up there with the greatest hits of the genre. It’s every bit as impressive as the likes of Inside, but stands out due to its colourful visuals and heart-warming story. Sure, there’s not much to do once you’ve completed it unless you’re an achievement/trophy hunter, but it’s an experience that you really shouldn’t miss out on.

Sker Ritual isn’t perfect, then, but for co-op shooter fans, especially those who have dug the Zombie modes in Call of Duty titles in the past, there’s a hell of a lot to like. There’s impressive enemy variety, each map very much has its own theme and unique quirks, and mechanically it’s very rewarding. It’s just a shame that it can feel a little too overwhelming at times, and that there are some technical issues to iron out.

A roguelike strategy game that fuses Minesweeper and turn-based combat, the wonderful Let's Revolution satisfies that "just one more try" scratch that only the best in the genre manage to itch.

Freedom Planet 2 will surely be enjoyed by Sonic fans wanting some more high-speed 2D platforming antics. It even has a soundtrack that can trade blows with the Blue Blur’s finest. It suffers from the same pitfalls as a typical 2D Sonic game, though, such as enemy placement sometimes feeling punishing. And the deviations from the Sonic formula often work against the game rather than for it, with combat in particular being deeper but also scrappier. Still, this is a solid game, and developer GalaxyTrain should be applauded for trying to build on the Sonic formula rather than simply replicate it.

The puzzle-shooter gameplay and bizarre presentation of Children of the Sun make it utterly unique. And while your success in some levels unfortunately relies on trial and error, it doesn't stop it from being a highly rewarding experience on the whole.

Turbo Golf Racing is the most entertaining online multiplayer game we've played for a long while, turning golf into an exhilarating fast-paced sport played with vehicles. Its single-player time trial mode complete with leaderboards proves to be an enjoyable time sink, too.

There’s not a single misstep in Botany Manor. It looks fantastic, and it’s supported by a gorgeous, if sometimes subtle, soundtrack. It’s the puzzles that take the limelight, though: they’re almost flawless in design, requiring just the amount of brainwork to complete. The perfect blend of exploration and puzzle-solving makes Botany Manor an absolute delight — and as thrilled as we were that Arabella got to finish her book, we were gutted that it meant our time with her was over.

Its creepy art style and unsettling atmosphere will immediately draw you into Buckshot Roulette — but it's its quick-and-dirty Russian roulette gameplay that will keep you coming back. It's easy to play, but to succeed you'll need to keep your wits about you, and that makes for a really successful little game.

Minishoot’ Adventures is a game that’s easy to bestow praise upon. It’s easy on the eyes, being clean and colourful, and its soundtrack is a bit of a treat. But most important of all, it’s an absolute joy to play. From the minute you take control of your small ship and discover that it’s a joy to manoeuvre, chances are you’ll be hooked. From then on, you’ll just be focused on exploring the game’s wonderfully crafted world and making your ship mighty.

For roguelike fans with rhythm, Beat Slayer will no doubt prove to be a bit of a treat. It has a beautiful art style, a soundtrack that will get your foot tapping, and gameplay that draws you in and holds your attention like a vice. It perhaps doesn’t do anything new or original outside of incorporating a rhythm element, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Just put some headphones on, start a new run and enjoy busting up some robots to the beat.

A strategy puzzle masquerading as a world builder, Planetiles is a wonderfully challenging little game that we can't get enough of.

Part roguelike, part horror, part puzzle adventure, we've not played anything quite like Withering Rooms before. It's a little scrappy, and we wish combat was better, but there's something about it that will keep us coming back.

Heavily inspired by the Kingdom games, Sons of Valhalla is great fun — if not a little too unforgiving at times. It's seriously rewarding though, and the sort of thing we can imagine jumping back into time and time again.
