Flood of Light is a brain-teasing, puzzling, platformer that will give you hours of enjoyment and brain pains, in a good way. You will feel yourself being tested as you go from level to level, and you will feel good about solving these puzzles when you are done.

Unfortunately, the unintuitive U.I. and overall poor polish of the game detract from an otherwise delightful experience. Races felt too unfair one moment, and ridiculously too easy the next.

If there's any real "downside" to The Messenger, it's that its music and effects can be repetitive, but well... that's nitpicking. At its core, this game is damn-near perfection of the 2D action-platforming genre. Humorous writing, great boss fights, well-thought-out level design, and challenging but not painful execution make The Messenger a must-have for any Switch owner.

Two Point Hospital is the perfect building simulator that has liberal amounts of humor, cute interactions and progression that allows a sense of urgency we always look for in a game.

Planet Alpha is a visual feast, featuring a fantastical sci-fi world and backed by a hauntingly atmospheric musical score. While it’s an old tale that treads over familiar ground, there’s plenty of new tricks to make it a rewarding playthrough.

Porting to Nintendo Switch is perfect for Little Dragons Cafe as it reads like a charming children's storybook fit for any age. Although gameplay feels like it's in a loop quite quickly, the characters are memorable and the artwork nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is more than just a port. Within, Larian has rewritten and reworked massive pieces to address players concerns and make it the best version yet of an already excellent turn-based RPG.

While the comparisons to Diablo III will obviously be made, Victor Vran adds different mechanics to shake up the tried-and-true ARPG format and does a great job doing so.

If you’ve been waiting since DQVIII for a Dragon Quest title to hit your PlayStation, you’ll be glad it’s finally here. It may not do a lot to push the genre forward, but like the game’s design so clearly sets out to do, Dragon Quest XI is an homage to the JRPG and its fans. It’s an immense, addictive, and joyful experience from the first moment on. I cannot recommend it enough.

Strange Brigade is a delightful title that is sure to make waves and tickle pink everyone who picks it up. It's lighthearted, carefree and is a great game to dive into for indiscriminate slaughter of ancient Egyptian zombies.

While the game is random, and there are characters, abilities and weapon attachments to unlock, the repetitiveness of the gameplay will eventually wear out its welcome. Fortunately for Hypergun, the challenges presented are more than enough to keep players entertained for dozens of hours.

Cosmic Star Heroine is an homage to classic 90s sci-fi RPGS, and it works really well to evoke that sense of adventure. It may be a short affair, but its combat mechanics are tight, the drudgery of traditional JRPGs is wiped away by clever design decisions, and at fifteen bucks, it's well worth the price of entry.

The blending of multiple genres ensures a wide range of tastes will be satisfied with the gameplay. While the heavy use of RNG creates an inconsistent difficulty to each run, the carry over of character progression from one life to the next means every failed run contributes to your advancement.

One thing that I do appreciate is that they recognized and use the vehicle of gaming as a workable, productive, and even ideal arena to introduce and engage in conversations of relative pertinence to our lives, what our lives may become, and how we approach considerations of options.

With a light hearted presentation for children of all ages, well rendered graphics on both the PC and Switch versions, and a few rockin’ audio tracks that don’t get bothersome after repeatedly hearing them, Tiny Hands Adventure is a solid little game that can easily occupy new platformer fans.

It is good for short commutes to and from work and the Nintendo Switch IS both a living room console and a handheld portable. Maybe it will grow on me. But for now, it just leaves me in the Void.

Few stories in games can successfully make me hate the “protagonist” and at the same time draw me compulsively further into the events and plot twists. Paired up with the simplistic and impressionistic art of the story frames, the atmosphere and the complexity of the intertwining yet opposing factions bandying for influence over hopelessly corrupt Jack Boyd and you have a Noir story set in the 80’s that could rival the classics.

We Happy Few is going to go down as a cult hit. If you can muster the strength to get past its janky gameplay, there's a whole lot to love here in the world and characters. But the fact remains that this adventure is one that could have used a bit more refinement.

A touching and interesting story which is infinitely relatable. I wish the storytelling had been a bit more varied and I hadn’t had my issue with motion sickness. All of that said, if you enjoy narrative exploration games this is a good one to check out.
