But if you're doing just fine with non-Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and you can live without Ghost Rider, Nemesis, and Vergil, then I wouldn't recommend this for purchase at all. Hardcore fans and competitive players will likely feel that they need to own it and that's understandable, but they're on the short end of the stick as well. I love the game, I love the new characters but this is the kind of iterative nonsense that should not be rewarded with consumer dollars.

All in all, Shin Megami Tensei games aren't everyone's cup of tea. Repetitive battles, quirky dialogue and complex fusion charts make some gamers squeal in delight while simultaneously sending others in search of a brick wall for some good ole head-bashing. But if you are the type to become obsessive-compulsive about filling your collection to perfection, Devil Summoner adds a dark twist to “catching them all.”

This direct sequel isn't an improvement in every single way, but it's a huge step forward that corrects many of the most glaring mistakes the fan base took issue with. What of Lightning and her gorgeous Valkyrie-inspired costume? You'll have to play to find out, and I recommend that you do.

Mirror’s Edge is not the fully-fledged Parkour game that I was hoping for, and it stumbles over and over in its attempts to be a shooter. It can be needlessly frustrating and begrudgingly repetitive, but equally and truly awe-inspiring. If you can trudge through the story, the Time Trials provide one of the most intense and liberating platforming experiences to date, and ironically, it just might inspire you to turn off the TV and get outside.

King Arthur tells a great story, and I found myself enjoying the text adventure part of the design more than I did the 3D battles and while the game doesn't quite reach the heights of the Total War series at its best (namely Rome and Medieval), it's clearly worth your time and offers enough new ideas to keep its Total War borrowing at arm's length and remain its own game.

Looking at the whole product on paper, Tales of Vesperia really doesn’t do anything new or exciting. Instead, Namco Bandai takes the components for RPG success—a serviceable story, stellar writing, combat which doesn’t become a chore, anime-inspired visuals, and a fantasy setting with some roots in reality—and puts them together so well that the game just works. Is the game groundbreaking? No. Is it fun? You bet.
