Resident Evil 7 was a return to form for the franchise, and while one could argue that a horror game is best experienced on a big screen, being able to carry this horror masterpiece around in your pocket has a charm of its own.- GAMES.CH

As a package Super Woden GP II is an absolute love letter to the last three decades of racing games. It offers smooth and fun racing as well as a ton of tracks and cars. It is old-school by design, with all its pros and cons. Thankfully the gameplay is as good as it is because the menus are frankly a bit of a mess and the AI of the other drivers is stubborn and destructive. Yet it is a great racing game for a low price from a clearly talented developer that loves the genre, warts and all.- GAMES.CH

The simple yet addictive roguelike-gameplay predictably works as good as ever in the Apple Arcade version of this indie hit. If you have yet to play the game, Vampire Survivors+ is a great place to do so with the lack of any in-game monetization and the inclusion of 2 DLCs.- GAMES.CH

The core gameplay loop is entertaining enough. The nonstop action feels fun and the pixel-art is gorgeous. Unfortunately the gameplay is brought down by the awkward feeling wall jump mechanic, too much repetition and boring bosses. With that said you can spend your money on much worse things and if you fancy a bit of nostalgia you’ll have some fun with Speedollama.- GAMES.CH

Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is a fantastic rhythm game that is now available on all platforms. It offers a nice selection of songs in different genres, feels great when played and is very colorful and weird. Using a virtual city as a menu isn’t great and not being able to just play and get all the experience points to level up feels bad. The gods of the Greek pantheon are front and center in “Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island”. They feel like real characters and it is a joy to get to know them. Unfortunately the gameplay is a very shallow affair that consists mostly of finding an item on one side of the island that you have to deliver to a god on the other side of the island. This can be very appealing though and combined with the great cast it results in more than one long and annoying fetch quest. Paired with the great visuals and so many very cute animations makes it a worthwhile stay on Ambrosia Island.- GAMES.CH

Neon Blood is a classic case of style over substance. The world ChaoticBrain Studios created is beautiful to look at but rather empty when you explore it. Dead Letter Dept. is a very specific game. It combines typing and horror. But it does so incredibly well. The gameplay works perfectly with its low-poly look, its sometimes very weird moments and the very creepy atmosphere. Completely mundane work suddenly feels threatening and hostile. It tells a story that couldn’t be told in this way in any other medium. If the concept of a horror-typing game excites you in any way then you should absolutely get it.- GAMES.CH

While certain elements of Trials of Mana+ certainly show the original game's age, it captivates players with its 90s JRPG charme. The farming activities presented here are solidly implemented in VR and are quite fun at first. The models of agricultural machinery also look usable, the controls are quickly internalized, the comfort functions are okay and the music fits the action. However, in direct comparison with Farming Simulator 25, the VR version is pretty weak in terms of content. After just a few hours you want nothing more than more different activities, a significantly larger map with more places to explore, more machines, more crops to grow, and generally more things to do. Sadly also livestock breeding and forestry do not play a role here.- GAMES.CH

Schleich is a German brand that specialises in making little plastic figures for mostly kids.Eldrador Creatures: Shadowfall is based on a line of these figures and would be primed to be turned into a genre that is easily digestible for young gamers. Finding Frankie is certainly one of the weaker entries into the popular mascot horror genre. It offers a somewhat novel idea by being set in an indoor park full of trampolines and parkour obstacles but that’s about it. The controls are way too flimsy for some maneuvers, the mascots themself have almost no screen time and it’s very short and still feels padded in places. If you’re looking for a cutesy horror adventure then you should look elsewhere.- GAMES.CH

Sunderfolk is an engaging and fun game that combines tactical gameplay with the charm of classic tabletop RPGs. Overall Chronicles of the Wolf can be a ton of fun. If you like the genre or the older Castlevanias you are going to have a great time with this game. The gameplay itself may not be revolutionary but it is more than solid and entertaining. Unfortunately that entertainment will get bogged down by a tedious amount of backtracking and too many places that will instantly kill you without a warning. Sometimes this means that it will set you back five, ten or more minutes which is just plain annoying.- GAMES.CH

The title Dorfromantik comes from the German words for village and romance. And that is precisely what the game is. It’s slow and soft. It will never hurry you along to place more tiles more efficiently. But if you wanna play Dorfromantik as a game you will find a very clever and intuitive points system that rewards you for smartly placing all your tiles. Dead Reset is a labour of love. From top to bottom it shows that every person involved with this project put their everything into it. Be that actors pulling double or triple duties behind the scenes or just the sheer amount of amazing practical effects that are put on screen. As a game it’s obviously extremely barebones. Henry Halfhead is a short but very relatable adventure about what we call our lives. It’s not very long, the gameplay is mostly very basic and you can never really fail. What sounds negative is mostly positive though. The story is short, sweet and offers enough room for everyone to take away from it whatever you want and feel. The simplistic gameplay offers room for play and curiosity. The 9th Charnel starts with promising atmosphere and a solid sense of slow-burning horror, but quickly falls apart due to severe technical issues, clumsy gameplay design, and extremely poor enemy AI. Heart of the Forest might be very interesting if you don’t mind low-budget horror flicks. It often feels a bit dull and meandering with a ton of scenes just showing one or several of the protagonists stumbling through the gorgeous Black Forest. Sudden Strike 5 seems to develop the storied franchise into different directions. On the one side, the new card system for commanders allows for more flexibility and some of the new mission designs lean towards faster, more accessible action.
