Darksiders looks like the result of a head-on collision between the Zelda and God of War-franchise. But instead of a big mess, both fuse together to form a hybrid with the best elements of both, combined with a great story. The game won’t win any awards for originality, but thanks to its long playtime, strong puzzles and great alteration between elements and scenery we can only conclude that Darksiders is already one of the first great games of 2010.

Remove its witty jokes, countless fun references and memes, and Guacamelee! is still a game more than worth playing. Yoshi's Crafted World is filled with beautifully designed platform levels. However, as a platformer it could have done so much more. Especially with the double layer in the game, which is disappointing.

The Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands feels like the genuine sequel to The Sands of Time. It offers an exceptionally long single-player experience with variation, challenge and interesting gameplay mechanics. Flaws in the combat controls and the camera position don’t hurt the experience: this game is one of the surprises of the year.
