SSX is a game trimmed of all superfluous fat. It's old-fashioned in the good sense, where you can just pick it up and play, and nothing gets in the way of the gameplay. With the hunt for medals and the frankly mad amount of drop points, it's also a game that you can squeeze plenty of hours from. SSX is everything we hoped it would be.

The most hardcore Splinter Cell-purists might still be a little miffed, but otherwise Blacklist is by far the best outing the series has had on this console generation. Even if the new Sam Fisher is a bit dry.

Wins you over with a fantastic atmosphere and a beautifully realized universe. The sequences where you feel both exposed, hunted and powerless offer a kind of action that is all too rare these days.

Joe Danger's latest adventure will charm your pants off, is filled to the brim with easily accessible content, and offers gameplay that is at times frighteningly addictive.

If you hate puzzle games, this certainly isn't for you. But if you decide to throw your time and money at Catherine, you're in for a dream of a game within the genre.

Call of Duty meets Mario Kart in this blazing racer. Get it for the deep online experience and the highly chaotic battles that come with it.

The story mode is highly entertaining, but unless you plan on venturing online or having your friends over for some multiplayer beatings, you might find the amount of content a bit lacking.

The PC-version has already been showered with praise, and most of it applies to the Xbox 360 outing as well. Runic Games have done a fantastic job of adapting the game to the console. The framerate gets choppy when a lot of monsters are on screen, but otherwise Torchlight is a very strong Diablo clone, and definately the best of its kind on Xbox.

A cute and charming puzzle platformer that will severely test your mind bending abilities. It's among the more expensive PS Minis titles, but well worth the price for the hours of entertainment and puzzling it provides. Highly recommended.

1200 Microsoft Points gets you a fighting game that is decidedly different, but has a depth and a fighting system that's on par with the best. The rest of the package is rather lacking though, and so we'll only recommend this game to those who know exactly what they're in for.

Gearbox has truly delivered one of the best looter shooters to date.

Swooping through a virtual boy's room in a miniature jet while fighting a huge submarine is where this game topped for us. Rock solid and inexpensive entertainment for your Xbox 360.

A charming little puzzle game with a novel concept and plenty of challenges. The cute look and feel might be a bit too much for some, and the difficulty is a little uneven, but the game is still well worth a look, especially for its two-player mode.

Nintendo is in great form here, bringing some of the same magic, surprise and humor that made the original Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga so enjoyable. A perfect candidate for best 3DS game of the summer.

Insomniac Games is back with more madness and more insane weapons in a sandbox game that is sure to entertain.

If you've already played the game on PC, you can safely skip is re-release. This is a game for console owners, and then only for those most happy about the Crysis series. It's not a bad game, but the little issues, the inconstant quality and the lack of multiplayer means you have to consider this carefully: How fun would it be to go back in time and play a game, everyone talked about four years ago? The answer will decide whether you should get this.

This is more of what we hated and loved about the original game. The sequel offers amazing freedom and a huge playground, but is still bugged by the sloppy controls. Just Cause 2 is hugely entertaining though, and that is reason enough to return with Rico.

This is an absolutely fantastic rerelease, and even though the games are marked by the passing of time, they are so versatile that they definitely deserve a revisit. If you have played these games before, you are in for a wonderfully nostalgic reunion, and if you haven't, now is the time to pick them up.

Star Fox 64 3D is best seen as a simple but tasty snack in between meals for those of us waiting for proper new adventures from Nintendo. It's not for everyone, but does offer easily digested science fiction entertainment with plenty of action for many.

Gran Turismo is no longer the superstar it once was, as we are no longer impressed by tons of cars and lovely polygons, just like most of us no longer think poodle-hair and Def Leppard are hot stuff. The world is a different place today, as is the racing genre, but Gran Turismo remains stuck in the past.

You have to wonder whether being based on an old classic has held GoldenEye 007 back more than serving as a welcome inspiration. Reliving sections of the old game is fun, but in the grand scheme of things, new levels play better are look more interesting. Fans of the Nintendo 64 classic don't get much reason to switch, and Bond-fanatics are better off sticking with the movies and books. But if you do all your shooting on the Wii, GoldenEye 007 is a safe bet.

Hitman GO is a nice casual puzzler with plenty of challenge and beautiful visual design, but it didn’t really grab us. Maybe you’ll feel differently.

I can't remember when I last enjoyed a Civilization game as much as I have enjoyed Beyond Earth. I'm itching to jump on it again, raise the difficulty a notch or two, and see how fast my plans go down the toilet as I try to mount a panic-stricken comeback. It's an excellent strategy game, and despite minor problems it deserves a warm recommendation.

Gods and Kings sets out to add depth to the Civilization V experience, but ultimately changes little. Despite the two big features, religion and espionage, adding more choices and possibilities, this is still largely the same game you played two years ago.

If you love addictive strategic gameplay with as much challenge as you want, then you are guaranteed to have a party with Fire Emblem: Engage.

The main character has the charisma of a wet piece of cardboard, but other than that, Watch Dogs is solid and a great foundation for Ubisoft to build on in the future. Having spent many hours in virtual Chicago as Aiden Pearce, we’re only hungry for more.

Despite the paper thin story and the fact that the basic gameplay is still pretty much a carbon copy of the very first Pokémon game, Pokémon Black/White 2 is a feast of delicious new content for all fans of the series.

The series' gameplay has never offered more diversity, and all the polish that's been applied over the years shines through. It's funny as few games are capable of, has phenomenal music, the story works well (even though it's missing a proper villain), and is simply a joy to play.
