An excellent 2D brawler with a rich combat system, many and diverse playable characters, a big campaign and very welcomed RPG elements and character progression.

The System Redux edition looks stunning with all the advantages of the new generation consoles, but besides that, there is nothing essentially new or improved.

It is a hack-n-slash game, with all its advantages and shortcomings, yet with Breath of the Wild being a part of every aspect, down to the core. With an unexpected story that manages to remain captivating and touching, despite being different from the original telling of the events past, the world and character design, visuals and music, Age of Calamity should be a must to anyone who is willing to oversee its technical issues.

By greatly diluting the cel-shading technique, this remake seems to be missing one of the most crucial elements of the original game, that being its unique graphic novel look. On top of that there are significant issues with the A.I. and audio on top of gameplay that was not particularly good to begin with.

Probably the best Call of Duty game of the last decade. With a superb campaign, a great Zombies mode and a -mostly- balanced and rich multiplayer mode Cold War is a game no fan of the franchise should miss out.

An unexpectedly solid reboot of a long standing series. The switch to JRPG mechanics not only works, but also manages to showcase even more the crazy humor and gritty reality that wove the mantle of the Yakuza series.

Insoniac Games has a triumphant debut on the PS5 with Spider-man: Miles Morales, a stand-alone "expansion" of Marvel's Spider-man. With insanely fast load times, superb technology, an updated fighting system and a really likeable protagonist, this is the PS5 launch game you should look forward to.

A fun old-school platform game, full of fresh ideas and hilarious references, which if not suffering from a lack of resources, it would easily stand among its genre’s big heads.

Broken Porcelain could just be named Broken. It is not only the abundance of technical issues the reason of its low quality but more so the fundamental gameplay design that leads to an especially frustrating and non-rewarding experience. It gives the impression that the developers not only didn’t pay attention to the major shortcomings of the first Remothered, but they decided to double down on them.

Amnesia: Rebirth unfortunately does not live up to the quality writing which Frictional Games exhibit in SOMA. Even though it starts strong, by the end the plot does not hold any real punches and the main tragic nature of the protagonist feels rather forced. Nevertheless, it still retains the claustrophobic and restrained horror aspects for which the developer is known for, finding the perfect balance of stealth sections, exploration and riddle solving for the genre.

While Al Lowe’s absence and the indie budget are acutely visible and the “moon logic” does show its head now and then, the latest LSL game from CrazyBunch has some subtle improvements over its predecessor and provides a welcoming and entertaining addition to the series.

The second chapter in the Dark Pictures Anthology is a major improvement over Man of Medan. With better pacing, a well written story and a great multiplayer mode, Little Hope is ideal for fans of horror and their friends.

Watch Dogs: Legion is presented as Ubisoft’s grandest and most compelling adventure ever, but ends up failing to deliver what has been promised. Despite the additional development time, it lost the chance to deliver a new type of experience that includes the much-advertised Operators Recruitment.

While a bit light in mission variety and dull in writing, it is impossible to ignore the sheer brilliance behind the wonderful space flight & fight gameplay it offers. Sure, in VR it is simply breathtaking, but even in its standard format it is a highly entertaining experience which somehow manages to be accessible to newcomers but engaging to experts at the same time.

The mentality behind the development of Serious Sam 4 is summed up in the saying of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. It adheres to this saying so much that it forgets that this logic could very well fall in the trap of “diminishing returns”. Unfortunately, that is the case with the fourth instalment that seems to be nothing less than a rehash of the previous instalments, just with the obligatory but a bit unsatisfactory revamp of the graphics engine.

Nexomon: Extinction could have been a far promising title than it already is. Instead, it relies heavily on the legacy of that other huge monster-capturing franchise, copying names and elements, but not catching up with the gameplay recipe that has been improving for almost twenty-five years.
