Whether someone is familiar with Metal Slug 3 or not, this conversion under the banner of the ACA Neo Geo series, will work wonders. SNK's iconic run and gun series is very well represented in this conversion for the Nintendo Switch which faithfully maintains all the elements that made the original such a remarkable and appreciated game. Veterans and newcomers alike will all find plenty of reasons to invest their time and effort here.

Bringing LEGO City Underground to the Nintendo Switch four years after the game's original release is not without its risks but the result is overwhelmingly positive. This is a game that carries out a smooth transition to its new format and which keeps a very fun campaign and featuring content that will keep the players entertained for a long time.

This is a game that is simple but engaging enough to keep players interested, including even after the main quest is finished. Featuring fun combats and well executed animations, Brave Dungeon may not be the most ambitious RPG ever made but it certainly is something RPG fans will enjoy.

Sky Force Anniversary may be arriving late and on the Wii U's last days but it still boasts a good gameplay experience as well as an enjoyable cooperative mode. Its rather slow start will be welcomed by less experienced players but longtime shoot'em up fans risk being put off. Overall this is an enjoyable experience, even if its soundtrack will feel too repetitive.

Legna Tactica follows all the conventions of a tactical/strategy RPG and does this job well enough. It also refuses to go further and falls into a corner where it ticks the essential boxes but doesn't stand out in any other way due to its uninteresting plot, unimaginative artwork and overall lack of originality. Legna Tactica could go beyond and build on what it already does well but as it is, it falls below expectations.

I Am Setsuna will more than certainly strike a chord with longtime JRPG fans, who will find plenty of elements to bond with this game. It doesn't quite fulfill other major ambitions and its disappointing plot, rather uninspired characters and overall repetitiveness of some aspects, especially as far as its visual component is concerned, stand on its way from breaking any grounds compared to other recent games of the same style.

Blaster Master Zero should be pointed out as the formula to follow when making a remake of a classic game. While the original's technical aspects and some elements of gameplay were modernized according to today's demands, the contents and spirit of the 8-bit classic remain intact, just like a remake should be. Anyone can enjoy this, not just retrogaming enthusiasts, which further attests to Blaster Master Zero's qualities.

If simple to customize, involving plot, rich characters and entertaining combats are hallmarks of the RPG genre, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD nails them all with a high standard. This game stands out for its gameplay and audiovisual environments thanks to its combat system, its rich plot and interesting characters that make the whole experience much more involving. Being easy to customize only adds another layer of depth to the experience, making it one of the most enjoyable RPGs available for the 3DS.

While Tank Troopers has an interesting concept, the game feels like it was not properly finished and rather plays like a rushed effort in order to be released before the 3DS starts fading out of the market.

Shock Troopers is a classic that will resonate with the players who have a big case of nostalgia for this game. It keeps up with the test of time when played on its two-player mode but beyond that, some of its gameplay feels anachronistic and stands in the way of making it a more enjoyable classic to most players beyond the circle of connoisseurs who know what they are getting.

Snake Pass brings some very welcome and challenging serpentine fun to the Nintendo Switch, along with memorable audiovisual worlds that will fill the players' eyes and ears. While its camera doesn't always work perfectly, there is no obstacle to its snake-like gameplay and to its snake approach to puzzle-solving that will stand in the way of Snake Pass becoming a memorable game.

Keeping itself faithful to the spirit of the original rather than to its casing, Blaster Master Zero brings the original classic to today's world while keeping the main tenets of its identity intact. This is a nostalgic experience that is not afraid to use some contemporary clothing and which fully satisfies its purpose of recreating a successful 2D experience, even if its difficulty level might suggest otherwise.

Yo-kai Watch 2 may be too similar to the original at some points but that's not an obstacle in the way of this being a quality sequel that delivers on what is expected or even towards becoming the best game of the Yo-kai series. Its immense content will keep players interested for well over one hundred hours of play and its online multiplayer combats are a very welcome addition to the series, even if the combat system in the regular one-player mode may feel too passive at times.

Little Inferno exists in its own space and it certainly excels at that. The game's underlying critique of consumerism and of, why not?, the gaming industry adds to its unique charms and after the first minutes of play, Little Inferno turns out to be much deeper than what a superficial view could suggest. Pity that the game's length and selling price are disproportionate to its age and presence in other platforms.

World Heroes Perfect is an enjoyable and well executed 2D fighting game of the mid-90s that features impressive visuals and a varied cast with some impressive special moves. Even if it does not reinvent the genre or doesn't break any significant grounds, it's still a fun experience to be enjoyed by fans of fighting games.

Waku Waku 7 may not be the most mind blowing fighting game ever made but it certainly is full of charm thanks to its unique, albeit short, cast of characters and wonderfully executed animations. While sometimes it stumbles upon technical issues, the gameplay is satisfying and it's another game to add to the growing list of classic titles in the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Despite the requirement of an annual paid subscription to enjoy an additional set of 200 hundred songs beyond the 40 tracks that come with the game, this version of Just Dance 2017 has the added incentive of working as a portable as well as a home game, which will certainly create its own space for players who enjoy the kind of contribution that Just Dance brings to friendly gatherings.

If sports games bearing the Mario name are supposed to be enjoyable in a certain Nintendo fashion that Camelot has proved before can be done, Mario Sports Superstars is definitely the black sheep of this family. By including five sports that hardly ever get to be minimally fun at all, this is an effort that falls short of its goals, despite its rich visuals and good intentions.

The third title in the BOXBOY! series is a marvel of creative and addictive puzzles, with plenty of charm presented in a minimalist visual style that will find its place with a large segment of players. Not going off key with the predecessors' magnificent quality standards, BYE-BYE BOXBOY! is a stunning game that will end its trilogy in the best possible way, if this is indeed the series' end.

Its long lifespan, very detailed and quality level design, as well as its challenges and plot make the Shovel Knight series one of the best contemporary platformers designed in the 8-bit retro style. Othello for Nintendo Switch is a digital version of the long-running board game also known as Reversi and is entirely faithful to the original, in the sense that it is simple to learn and perfectly enjoyable for short gaming sessions. While technically competent and without any execution problems, it lacks a sorely needed online multiplayer component, without which its selling price seems way too high for a game that can be easily and legally found for free elsewhere.

If Shift DX performs very well on its main mode, thanks to well-designed (and plentiful) rooms and a difficulty curve that feels overall right, it's lacking in other aspects such as multiplayer and online components. This is a fun and challenging puzzle game that could have gone further if other details had been thought of.

How could the Zelda series evolve and reinvent itself to reclaim its spot among the greatest games in the world? According to the Breath of the Wild book, by rewiring its main conventions and tapping them into the freedom template provided by the saga's very first chapter, adding to them the visual marvels that contemporary technology can achieve, the vastest space for exploration that has ever been created for a Zelda game and a perfect learning cycle that provides Link with an explosive potential for development.

Voez makes its arrival on the Nintendo Switch as a rhythm game that features a wide selection of songs and making full use of the console's touchscreen. Those unaccustomed to this kind of games may find it repetitive and it can cause some physical discomfort after long periods of use, which along with a lack of a real progression system makes this a game aimed mostly at fans of the rhythm and music genre.

1-2-Switch displays some interesting ideas and reveals part of the potential uses of the Joy-Cons as more than mere controllers. However, its steep price and relatively uninteresting content of several of its minigames, as well as the focus on multiplayer in detriment of single player, end up harming what could be a much more attractive window into the future uses of the Nintendo Switch.
