If Director C.B. Harding's intention was to make one of the worst films in recent memory, congratulations are in order.

Georgia Rule isn’t serious enough for a drama and not funny enough for a comedy.
  1. It isn't as if any of the actors do an especially bad job or anything – Fox is capable enough as the lead, and Whitley and Wilson especially carry themselves quite well – but you can't help asking yourself, what's the point? Are there that many more broad topics in need of shallow examination by a Hollywood studio picture?
  2. Chalk is loaded with life, energy, truth and respect. It may just make you yearn for your high schooling days. Okay, maybe not, but Chalk will have you laughing long after the movie has ended. How's that for homework?

The most touching moments come from Amy Hill as Linh, who runs a nail salon located next to a strip of long-forgotten Hollywood Walk of Fame stars.

An existential masterpiece. Merging the stylistic direction of Jean-Pierre Jeunet with the existential sensibilities of Charlie Kaufman, creating one of the most memorable films ever made.
  3. Had Lucky You played strictly as a father-son drama set against the background of competitive Texas Hold 'Em, it would've been a much better movie based on the strength of Hanson's direction and Duvall's performance alone. But no, somewhere along the line they had to make this a romance, and that's the movie's fatal flaw.

Julie Christie gives a fabulous performance of mysterious, unclear depth as Fiona.

What saves Spider-Man 3 from becoming well, "Superman III," is the fact that it's still a solid film that packs a punch when it comes to turn on the spectacle.
  4. This one deserves to go back in the refrigerator – preferably to the very back of the refrigerator!
  5. Splendid.

Full of off-kilter characters who don't talk like anyone in real life, but sound a truthful chord.

While it sounds interesting on paper, the follow through is less than entertaining... unless you like unintentional humor.
  6. It's noisy, nonsensical, and will fade from your consciousness even before you make it out of the theater lobby, but it's entertaining enough, and Tamahori throws us a few curve balls to keep things interesting.
  7. Diggers isn't a bad film, but the underlying premise - the longing one feels to escape from a dead-end, small town life - has been so beaten to death in the movies that no amount of accurate 70s design or subtlety in the performances can hide the fact.

Rickman and Weaver sell it, and the utterly heart wrenching finale is the big pay off, and the experience is worth it.

One of those docs that takes the life of an individual and surrounds it with other people's stories that are just as absorbing.
  8. It's all a case of been-there, done-that, although the singing is nice. Still, do we really need another movie with thirtysomethings who ache to re-live their college years? C’mon, guys, grow up!

The thrill of Hot Fuzz is the chemistry between Nicholas and local oaf Danny Butterman, who is an action film aficionado and finds Nicholas' stories utterly engrossing.

It's rare to see Luke Wilson in such a serious role. He does an admirable job of ignoring his mostly comedic background but the real scene-stealer is Frank Whaley.
  9. Fracture may be smarter than the majority of movies out there, but it's not half as clever as it thinks it is.
  10. Isn't a bad film per se--it’s just an empty film.
  11. Plagues & Pleasures is kinda like one of those travel videos, except it's offering you a vacation like you've never had before and it's not loaded with bulls---.

The fault here lies in the film’s dead rhythm, which never lights the sparks necessary for an action film. The plot and action progress like an eroding lakeshore, but the energy and excitement are washed away in every scene.

Nothing but a perfect waste of a Friday night. Or a Tuesday night. Or any night of the week for that matter.
  12. A minor and forgettable bore.
  13. It's a bit of a shaky first screenwriting effort for Coupland, but not without its charms.
  14. Billed as a comedy but it would be every bit as accurate to categorize it as science fiction or a World War II drama. It is simply not a funny film.

Eccentric and pure like its hero, Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis will appall or bore many, but, a worthy piece of cultural history, it should delight devotees of the "real" reel underground.
