It might not be the best chapter so far, especially when you realize Max's powers have been mostly cut due to pure balancing reasons, but it still paves the way for the (hopefully) grand finale.

When the "grind&gun" works at its best, Sunset Overdrive is a joy to play, and the time needed to master the controls is well spent. On the other hand, the screenplay can't keep up the pace, offering boring characters and anticlimax, and the characters' growth in strength is slow and weak. Hundreds of collectibles and copycat secondary missions don't add much to the short main story mode: a true shame, since a more balanced offer in terms of gameplay and missions could have made a great exclusive out of Sunset Overdrive.

Although there is some decline on the variety front even with the excellent insertion of the cyclical reset, Stormland confirms another success for the Californian team, as well as the umpteenth production able to give more and more value to Oculus libraries.

The only real flaw of the title is the inability to fully understand the complex and exciting story told by Nihon Falcom without first completing the previous eight episodes of the saga. A problem that on Nintendo Switch is further aggravated by the non-publication of the indispensable Trails of Cold Steel I and II.

It's a basic tower defense and Defence Grid 2 doesn't even try to innovate, but it remains on of the most solid tower defense games around.

Despite some issues regarding the Artificial Intelligence and the dullness of the plot, Rage is a truly masterpiece. After 15 years id Software delivers a rock solid IP: a fascinating world meets an interesting gameplay, various as few other titles. Shooting and driving around in the wasteland is an experience every player should give a try.

This new chapter in the total War saga brings a new level of historic detail to the RTS and turn based strategy games, polishing a lot of flaws of the recent Empire. Although the much more detailed and intriguing campaign and the new online campaign features do not suffice to not make it look like a huge update rather than a brand-new game. An awesome update, but we should expect something more from a full release of the franchise.

If you have never dedicated yourself to fighting games due to the high game rates and overly complex combos, the Samurai Showdown could be the surprise that will make you passionate about the genre. If, on the contrary, you have always loved the fighting game with SNK's white weapon, this new version will not disappoint you.

It's the equivalent of a quality short novel: brief but intense, it will leave something behind. It's also a very passive experience, so don't dive in if you're looking for adventures: you won't find anything of sorts. But it's nonetheless a unique experience in a way, something you've never experienced before.

Ghost Song left a slight bitterness in our mouth when we consider its remarkable potential. The story conquers, the maps and in general the level design of the game are well built, while the variety of the clashes and the role-playing component work (initially) very well. Unfortunately, the average difficulty does not grow with the passing of the hours and on the contrary turns downwards, thanks to some devastating power ups and a general repetition of the enemies. Despite these critical issues, Ghost Song has amused and fascinated us, which is why we still recommend you try it, especially if you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber.

Convergence offers a playful offer supported by well-made gameplay - net of some roughness - and by a structured progression system, which over the hours enriches a formula that starts a bit with the brake on. Despite everything, having reached the end of the adventure, one gets the clear impression that the team has not managed to best express the potential of its creative vision, thanks to an uninspired and much less effective story than that seen in The Mageseeker. Net of its weaknesses, however, the title represents another good test by Riot Forge, waiting to see the third and final chapter of the League of Legends spin-offs.

Sumerian Six is a passionate and well-crafted homage to classic stealth tactics games, enriched by a fascinating fusion of mad science and the paranormal. Artificer's title manages to capture the essence of the pioneers of the genre, with the unique abilities of the characters and the variety of the missions that contribute to enriching the gameplay, which is engaging but not without some rough edges. While Sumerian Six performs well from a visual point of view, thanks to a distinctive graphic style, the plot and characterization of the characters would have benefited from greater depth. Overall, we are talking about a stimulating strategic adventure capable of offering surprises.

Star Fox 64 3D is the best version of the title we've seen on Nintendo 64. Its fast paced action and a perfectly balanced rhythm provide an experience which today is as good as it was years ago, not having suffered at all from the action of time. Extraordinary in its gameplay, the title still remains a masterpiece.

In conclusion, Darkest Dungeon II has taken a different path than its predecessor but its hardcore soul is intact and clearly visible. It is a ruthless, violent roguelite and embellished with a combat system of rare complexity which, after a few hours of experience and attempts, shows an incredible depth. Net of some problems mainly related to the excessive randomness of some mechanics, we are talking about a title that should not be missing in the luggage of any fan of the genre.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is a worthy heir to the Budokai Tenkaichi genre, because it offers spectacular battles, based on a "manageable depth" and suitable for players of all abilities. Battle Episode has some shortcomings and simplifications, but it also offers alternative events that are sometimes surprising, which can encourage the enthusiast to discover every secret of the mode, which could also be enriched with additional content in the future. From the little we tried it, the online dimension proved to be free of particular uncertainties, and the same can be said for the dear old split screen battles. The opponents' AI does its job, without reaching excellence, but on the other hand the roster of fighters is immense and strong with a 360-degree characterization of the individual fighters that is truly remarkable. Despite its qualitative declines, Sparking Zero's audiovisual department constantly reminds us why we love the Saiyans and their opponents, and overall Spike Chunsoft's production is one of the most beautiful titles based on Toriyama-sensei's world, a triumph for any Dragon Ball gamer fan.

Thanks to its variety, and to the numerous approaches available to complete a mission, stand as one of the finest single player FPS experiences of the last years.
