Rocksteady Studios surprised us all back in 2009 by delivering one of the best games that year with Batman: Arkham Asylum. This year they show us that they are a force to be reckoned with when Batman: Arkham City more than lives up to expectations; it surpasses them in what is a very strong contender for Game of the Year 2011. No multiplayer? Who gives a bats a**?- Eurogamer Sweden

Dark Souls is the girl you had a crush on in high school. The one that really enjoyed teasing you, making fun of you or punishing you. But you couldn't help being drawn to her. And even when she was as mean as she could be, you still loved her. You knew in your heart of hearts that the torture was her way of saying she loved you. As harsh and unforgiving as Dark Souls can be to casual players, the pleasure and gratification received from completing seemingly impossible tasks are still off the scale. Bigger, harsher and even more atmospheric than Demon's Souls, this is an immersive and immense experience.- Eurogamer Sweden

Tales of Xillia doesn't so much innovate as it does refine the stable foundation laid by the previous games, at least not from a gameplay mechanics standpoint. Where it really shines is in the characterization, the world building and the mature, dark story. Choosing to play as either the young care-free Jude Mathis or the supernatural Milla Maxwell determines partially how the story is perceived and told. Tales of Xillia is one of the finest games to come out of Namco's Tales Studio and easily rivals, and in some cases clearly outshines, the competition within the JRPG genre this generation.- Eurogamer Sweden

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a classic that still works, even though it's essentially the same game as it was in 1998. It would surprise me if Nintendo in the future doesn't feel the need of releasing a new console with a battery that lasts longer between recharges, since that is the biggest issue with his remake. The original Portal was a delicious dessert in the five-course meal that was The Orange Box. Portal 2 is a much more meaty affair altogether and incorporates humor, great puzzling and a wonderful co-op mode while still being true to the original.- Eurogamer Sweden

Deadlight is probably the best downloadable title on the market right now, but that comparison does the game a disservice. Tequila Works have taken a step further to reduce the gap between retail games and downloadable titles and Deadlight will likely be the shining star of this year's Summer of Arcade.- Eurogamer Sweden

An absolutly gorgeous game with more to it than a pretty face. The compelling and focused single-player campaign, with its multitude of options, together with a fully fledged multiplayer component makes Crysis 2 one of the most complete first person shooters on the market right now. The AI may have some flaws and the minor graphic glitches tarnish the surface somewhat, but not in any serious way.- Eurogamer Sweden

End Game is a worthy ending to the Battlefield 3 expansions. It offers some of the series' best maps to date and makes the game feel fresh 16 months after launch. Battlefield 4 may be on its way, but End Game will keep Battlefield 3 alive for a long time to come.- Eurogamer Sweden

Prototype 2 is one of those games that makes you feel like the ultimate badass. Radical Entertainment knows how to do destruction in a great way. They might not know how to tell a good story, but they sure know how to make an extremely entertaining experience.- Eurogamer Sweden

Bastion tells a story about a boy and his struggle to rebuild a broken world. Masterfully implemented game mechanics, innovative dynamic story telling and a setting that really captures the imagination makes this a real treat for the demanding gamer.- Eurogamer Sweden

New Super Mario Bros. U may not revolutionize the genre and doesn't show us what flashy stuff the new console has to offer. But the playful level design, well balanced difficulty level and flawless control are more than enough to make this into one of the best games in the genre. This is 2D-plattforming at its finest, and a must buy for anyone who owns a Wii U.- Eurogamer Sweden

Team Bondi and Rockstar delivers a new kind of story telling. Brutal, mind numbing action has taken a backseat and the atmosphere, story and L.A. itself is driving this car. The different gameplay components in L.A. Noire may be a little repetitive after 10-15 hours play but mix everything in a blender and you get an experience not seen in many years. "No multiplayer?" you may say. I say multiplayer-shmultiplayer, this is a story to be enjoyed and taken in as on an individual basis.- Eurogamer Sweden

The Walking Dead: 400 Days bridges the first and second seasons of Telltales monumental adventure games. While it could have been longer, there's enough new questions raised and well-told personal moments to be worthwhile. Telltale still manages to deliver fantastic stories, and we can't wait to live through season two.- Eurogamer Sweden
