If you go into Nightcaster knowing it's a fantasy-themed action combat game and not an RPG by any stretch of the imagination, you'll be rewarded with a solid, gorgeous and low-maintenance experience.

Graphically Inside Drive is outstanding...Where the game fails is in the smooth transition of the ball up and down the court. The ball physics take a backseat to the look of the game.

A fantastic shooter. The levels seem to be just right in length, have lots of enemies to gun down or evade, and the scripted events make the missions seem logical and important.

Passable entertainment, just keep in mind that it's meant to be a light action game. If you're like me though, you're hungry for a true starfighter sim like you played in the glory days of the X-Wing series.

My favorite part of this game has got to be the curling; it translates exceptionally well to videogamedom...The mechanics are simple and yet this is a very involving mini-game and is worth the price of admission all by itself.

Even the level layout and "puzzle" elements--find the key, backtrack to the door--smack of things we've already seen, which makes the game, despite its arguable technical flow, something of a letdown.

Dark Armies wretchedly tells you exactly what you need to do (i.e. move your units down by those trees and change their formation), but never gives even the slightest hint in the direction of the almighty how the hell that is done (i.e. what combination of keys and mouse buttons you must manipulate to get an action done).

While it is fun in short spurts, there are too many issues to make it a first round pick.

It's weird, wonderful, addictive and groovin'.

The combination of the game's way-frenetic pace and the fact that you can only carry one weapon at a time (which translates to this being a game you play with a single button) adds up to an undeniably action-packed but ultimately shallow game.

In the end, the game felt forced like a classic episode of "Nightboat."

An excellent action game. Or is it strategy? Or perhaps action-strategy? Whatever it is, it is damn fun.

In a game already so dark and visually menacing, the Xbox gives the phrase "jumping at your own shadow" a whole new shade of meaning.

Level design is uninspiring--too many long corridors. Compare this with the stroke-of-genius falling cargo ship level from "Jedi Knight."

It features a game system rich enough to challenge and enthrall any experienced gamer, and Fantasy sublime enough to draw in the most hardened doubter of videogames.

Clearly designed by people who by-God know their Simpsons minutiae...An excellent-looking, perfect-sounding, perfectly-playable arcade game, albeit one of many missed opportunities.

A faithful retelling of an epic story by developers who are obvious fans of Frank Herbert's epic works, Dune is a slightly above-average third person action adventure with some frustrations that shouldn't take too much away from an otherwise decent game.

While one is stuck fishing for maneuvers, the computer is busy putting a boot so far up your rump you'll be sneezing shoelaces. The complete inability to respond to a flurry of deadly blows in kind renders human-controlled fighters all but helpless...Insulting.

Its pulp-novel story, gunfights straight out of John Woo's head, the incredibly cool Bullet Time gimmick, graphics that will stun the most jaded gamer.

Shadow Hearts’ enthralling plot and superb combat system make this one a keeper. Did I mention the micro-skirted heroine?

The graphics are cartoony and charming and I like the looks of the various enemies. It would have been nice if the environments had been a bit more interactive.

This excellent, visceral shooter is just the tiniest bit on the short side, but remember what the man said: In a New York Minute, everything can change.

Not since "Excitebike 64" for the now-defunct Nintendo 64 and the original "Motocross Madness" for the PC have I enjoyed a motocross game as much as MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael.
